  • Go up a hill

  • so... are they going to put a price/Kw on the Public charging stations?

  • Yesterday I was driving home and one of these shot past me, only to get pulled over by CHP a couple miles down the road.. just seemed funny to me

  • @techdude6693 LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My parents have one and they love it. It's a 2011 model and the color is white. They called around the west coast dealerships and managed to find it. The dealership that they got it from was from Seattle, Washington and they manage to find a truck that was going to the east coast to ship it here to Maryland. It's a really nice car and it helps to have a eco-friendly car.

  • I love my LEAF. Had it for over a month and a half now. I commute 33 miles each way and am able to charge at work. Using only about a third of the battery's capacity I have no range anxiety at all. If we ever need to take a long trip we'll just take my wife's gas engine car -- no problem. Charging only takes about 5 seconds... just plug it in and I'm done. The car is incredibly fun to drive and luxury car like smooth and quiet. I'm done sending petro-dollars to the middle east.

  • AWSOME!!! I wish i could afford one of these...

  • And if you make a decent income buy the tesla model s that can get up to 300miles on a single charge and looks better than most other luxury vehicles.

  • This is what you can do! (drag the e-brake) But dont do it!! Thanks for telling us that!!!

  • Interesting but how will it handle a snowy winter, will range drop? Very likely.

  • If you don't want people to drag the back tires with the e-brake on, then why show it to begin with.. You created a "Negative Suggestion". This will probably be one of the first things that people WILL try with this car.

  • @SilverWolf25 The point in showing people what HAPPENS when you do X action is to show "this is bad, don't do this unless you want to detroy this vehicle/object/etc." Showing the consequences squelches some of the curiousity when you say "don't do this because x will happen" and they show this is what happens when you have x and y.

There's nothing wrong with showing people this is what NOT to do.

But obviously people won't try this unless they have money to burn and want to destroy the car

  • how do they solve the problem that the electric grid is already taxed. say half the people in that area get electric vehicles. won't that cause rolling blackouts? you have to burn oil or coal to get most electric power so is this really that green?

  • You don't get away from fossil fuel by using this vehicle, so for those who "hate fossil fuel," walk.

  • The leaf is a good start, but why not add a Z-Car variant. If Nissan did build it to optimized the handling by taking advantage of the low center of gravity, it would be a winner. Price it at $35K after rebate the call it the V-Car.

  • They are not offering it in my state at least up front for now. I think these cars (and trucks) are needed more than we think. The Leaf fits my driving habits to a T.

hawkermustang.....I echo your sentiments exactly I hate it when someone stands up and tries to speak for all people without asking ALL people what they think. He/she should have said "I" and not "We".

  • Garbage.

  • She's so pretty... sigh... daydream...

Stupid car though, manufacturing the batteries is bad for the planet. Modern gas powered automobiles are insanely clean too, they actually filter the air in polluted cities.

  • @bdub232 "Modern gas powered automobiles are insanely clean too, they actually filter the air in polluted cities." Ha! Good one. I'm going to start planting ICE cars around my house.

  • there is not charging station in the city yeah.

  • You guys need to review a Ford Ranger sport!!

  • For 35000, id get a camry or fusion hybrid

  • Not quite there yet.

  • piece of shit

  • okay, the leaf wont emit any emissions but the power plants that provide the electricity will...

  • oh! my eyes! so ! much! glare! from! sun!

  • Doesn't have enough 'bark' in it for me

  • yeah like everybody else is saying how is this car gonna be successful with the lack of charging stations? I live in Dallas and there are only a few electric vehicle charging stations in the northern part of the city. If you live in the country or the hood you're screwed.

  • dam and i was planning on getting a tundra

  • So are you two dating or married?

  • forget electric cars all we need is direct injection and big turbos on 2L engines

  • I'll wait until this can get 200 mills of real world driving range.. I say 5 more years..

  • honestly, the auto industry is going to shit these days. seriously the electric car first, and i hear of cars that will drive on there own? honestly if you find driving tedious and boring, or are the environmentally concerned, stay the fuck off the road. ill just stick to driving the way its meant to be, thanks.

  • @xxpac4lyfexx electric cars are fast look up the EV1

  • @xxpac4lyfexx You do realize electric cars have been around since like the 1890's? I guess not. But yeah they were once the popular thing until gasoline engines took over. Electric cars are just seeing a resurgence in popularity in recent years due to technology advancements.

  • What a great view of Long Beach. Who knew it could look so good from an automotive perspective? Great review, always a pleasure.

  • I know the Volt and Leaf are two different types of vehicles, but the Volt is better looking and seems a lot more practical for anything more than a short commuter car and really isn't that much more expensive.

  • Nissan, Fuck all the electronics, the touch screens, the crazy instrument panel and just take a plain old sentra and put an electric powertrain in it. People don't want gay little futuristic cars that cost as much as a bigger/nicer car.

  • People who bash the car should realise that the car isn't marletted towards them. There's a compromoise to everything. Want 300 miles range? Pay up.

  • I think the Leaf is an excellent second or third car. Something to have along your gasoline car. Use the Leaf to commute to work, get groceries, go to the mall, etc. And for longer trips use the gas car. Sure there are drawbacks on owning an EV at this moment, but we had to start somewhere, and this is it. And for tha reason I congratulate Nissan, instead of marketing a long range Hybrid as an EV like Chevy does.

  • Instead of trying to make quick-fix battery electric cars, why don't we actually work on making a car that, when it comes down to it, actually runs on renewable electricity, like hydrogen fuel cells. Even if this uses electricity to move the wheels, that electricity is still coming from a power plant, most likely using a fossil fuel. This is just a waste of time and resources.

  • I only work 4 miles away from my house so I wont have range issues but......the price even after the government incentive is still pretty high.

  • i'd still want a volt........

  • Electric cars still have a long way to go. You did even mention how its likely that the battery will have to be replaced within 6 years at a cost of $6,500 plus dollars, especially is you quick charge it frequently, and quick charging is really the only appealing thing about fueling the leaf. Which is essential to drive it!

  • i would buy this at 20 grand and not a penny more, 28 grand or 35 grand is a joke

  • Would definitely buy this over that junk box Chevy Volt. But I don't think we're quite ready for pure electric vehicles just yet. Maybe more charging stations will change that.

  • its funny how idiots bash this car......the last time i checked the first gasoline car didn't have a 500+ miles driving range and a 0-60 of 3.5 secs!

  • @ricksmiths10 They bash it because it's practically useless. I understand your point, but hardly anyone will purchase this car due to lack of charging stations and it's range.

  • @ricksmiths10

Implying that this is the first electric car...

  • @Charles2337 first mass produced electric car...yup

  • @ricksmiths10 You keep in mind that this is in no way the first electric car. The electric car and the gasoline car are BOTH over 100 years old and started out in nearly the same way. 100 years later we have multiple gasoline cars that can go over 600 miles on one tank of fuel and have multiple that can do 0-60 in under 3 seconds. And we also have electric cars that at their fastest go 0-60 in around 6 seconds, and manage around 150 miles driving distance, and there's only 1 that can do that.

  • @AdrianC12345 while there might have been fully electric cars 100 years ago (i don't know of any mass produced electric cars), manufacturers do not innovate something that they don't sell...now obvious people being more aware of the future fuel crisis upon us, the sales for these electric cars will increase compared to past and it (electric car) will only get better from now on out.

  • @ricksmiths10 Very well said! people are stupid for saying, "oh we are not ready for this car because it cant take me from Alaska to Florida" well DUH, but im pretty sure when the first gasoline cars came out, there werent gas stations every mile so you can charge your gas guzzler up. Well same here, we dont have as many electric stations as we would need, but eventually we will. Someone had to start, and Nissan took the initiative.

  • @datpimpinboy my point exactly

  • @ricksmiths10 a car is a car it doesent matter if it is gasoline or electric, ofc the first car was slow but you cant directly compare it to to the first electric car

  • @geppegep bcoz...................

  • Saw one on the road today for the first time. Seemed to get along with traffic at 70 MPH nicely. Still wont ever want one tho lol :P

  • unjourneyable

  • Id rather get the Volt because you can use only electricity for daily comuting and gas/electricity for road trips

  • @yopranay Im the same way

  • we're just not ready for this car right now, when more charging stations are commonplace then maybe

  • @NadrianATRS there needs to be more Electric cars to justify the charging stations. can't have one without the other

  • @NadrianATRS Perhaps, but I don't have a gas station at home. I do have electricity.

  • @NadrianATRS I'm ready! Its not a primary, but at this point it works great a second car for daily stuff.

  • @NadrianATRS ,,,,Sure that may be true for some people, but Just because you and other drivers are not ready for the electric car doesn't mean everybody else is too. There are plenty of people who are ready and have waited a long time for their own electric car. So who's to say "WE" are not ready for this car, when you do mean "SOME" people are not ready!? BASICALLY no ones forcing you to buy this car, BUT don't stand in the way of the people who do.

  • @NadrianATRS Wait, what? We have been ready for some time, it's just that if there's something new, new technology ( ie ) The mobile phone, we are most likely to shy away from it. I live in Ireland and already there are over 3,500 charging posts that charge two cars at the same time, and there's not over 200 EVs in the country yet. I do know the lack of charging infrastructure is bloody annoying to think of, but in the US you have a strong infrastructure planned and in construction.

  • @NadrianATRS I think too many people are misunderstanding what I meant, let me explain: The whole point of spending a lot of money for a car, I'm expecting it to do MUCH more than drive from point A to A and a half. I need to go to point B, C, and D then back to A again. I don't want to have to buy a second car, I only want one car for myself. When I see a charging station everywhere I go, THEN I'll want one of these ugly Leaf cars. I don't want to be nervous driving it or left stranded.

  • @NadrianATRS I completely agree. It seems there's millions of dollars worth of funding going toward making better electric vehicles, but only 100,000 or so dollars going toward charging stations. Hm, there's my million dollar idea, open up a charging station in my city. How much do those things cost again?

  • @nexorabolis Oops, flaw in my idea. No one wants to sit at "Johns charging station" for 30 minutes waiting for their car to "fill up". Rats.

  • it is a neat car but 28k? ill just get a fully loaded mazda 3 for that much

  • Worthless shit car!

  • @RansomCowboy why is that?

  • @aarikc17 If you want to travel 100 miles, then have to wait almost a full day for the sake of "saving money" or "saving the world" to charge the damn thing, then sure, get one. But with the cost of the "car" being so high and the fact that its to small to do much with, it makes it worthless.

  • @RansomCowboy What about those who travel 30 miles one way to work everyday, and then just drive home. Sometimes the thought of never having to go to the gas station is pretty cool.

I think this is a good vehicle as long as it isn't your only vehicle, this is why the volt seems much more feasible for us midwesterners.

If you live in the city and NEVER drive that far then I think this would be a good car to look at.

  • @RansomCowboy noot worthless, useless, its not practical for most
