  • Note Holly and Terin's 'hug'.... such an american way to hug!

  • Absolutely outstanding performance from the first step on the carpet to the last one!! Extraodinary!! Who said Americans can't dance?? I'm smashed!! I was born in the USSR and did gymnastics there with choreography being put a great emphasis on.. The tumbling is great and the dance is perfect, feet positions, arms, shoulders, open , beatiful neck and the splits are just balletic!! So lovely and powerful!! How come they say she was and alternate?

  • @lilidaification Yes this routine is exquisite I agree....

  • @tomsk14 )) Thank you

  • why would she not have competed on bars, I thought she was one of the top qualifiers that year?

  • People STOOD after this routine. This is MAGNIFICENT.

  • So beautiful!

  • really? i always felt that she was kind of underrated. i was so happy at the olympics when she hit every routine. what a time to do it, eh?

  • @MsNoelle555 I agree, she was gorgeous on floor, she's so elegant :).

  • She is so low on her full in pike but she twist so fast that she is able to nail it. She is amazing.

  • she totally is. but, wow, i just realized how difficult this routine is. arabian double, tsuk piked, 1.5 thru to 2.5, and a triple. that would make it amongst toughest, even today.

  • loved her double arabian...

  • Did u know that she had to retire because of her back

  • dang... she twists freakishly fast on her third pass!

  • Best choreographed routine ever all the way till the end

  • Yeah, I've NEVER seen her get that double tuck jump all the way around.

  • whats her floor music called???

  • Armenian Tango.

  • Oh yes, an armenian old song....I guess Armineh barutyan fong picked up this melody for her composition

  • she was at my gym to day!

  • The triple wasn't quite completed. If you watch her foot as she puts it down, it's only at the 2 1/2, although she kinda covers by turning her torso to complete a triple. The code states that the foot must complete the full turn in order for full credit, not just the body. Just like on a triple full, the body may be around, but the feet may not and that's why the deduction occurs. Too much nit picky stuff, huh?!

  • now she is a little bit more than a 2.5...its closer to 2.75-2.8....but its definitely more than just 2 1/2. not a full 3 twists nonetheless.

  • true, but they don't give credit for 2.75. You either get credit for a 1/2 or a full, not quarters.

  • score?

  • I think it was only a 9.35. She was robed! They still won though!

  • That is true. I think Courtney Kupets should have been left off given how things turned out. And she still went on to compete in AA when she could have given her place to Mccool who would have had a higher chance of getting medals...

  • i think athens is my least favorite olympics or worlds. it was just boring.

  • They were fantastic in anaheim but lacked something in athens.

  • I think they just had an off day in Athens. @ mistakes cost them the gold, 2 by carly patterson, and i by Kupets. If they would of hit, it would have been golden!

  • I actually think the americans got it wrong in athens! Why did they change a winning team??

  • I don't see where all the deductions came from in this routine..her landings were really clean and that was one of the better choreographed routines of the entire championships...ah well, they still won. Wogafan, that's a really good question. No offense to Mojini Bjardwaj, but she wasn't strong enough on her other events that she competed to contribute to the team totals in Athens (imo).

  • I totally disagree! MO saved the team in Athens! She scored highest on FX in prelims for the US team! If anyone should have been left off, it was Annia! It's a shame Yim got hurt, she could have really helped on BB and FX. It's a shame that McCool imploded.

  • While Terin's FX may have been designed to start from 10.0, I don't think it was awarded. I think the judges started her from 9.8.

  • You're right. Her tumbling was pretty strong on this night with no major errors on landings, but on the jump double twist, she doesn't quite make it all the way around and the same with her triple turn. That's a possible four tenths for those two elements. Anyway, she did what she had to do and did it extremely well.

  • did she win

  • as a team, yes, the U.S. won

  • sothey were the first us team to ever win the team all around?

  • they were the first to win a team gold at a world championships (although the US won team gold at the Olympics in '96)
