To my ear, vocally, this sounds a bit like Willie Nelson doing a cover of the classic Blind Faith song, but I'm diggin it. The guitar playing is mad evocative. This take is definitely original in sound, so big props to you!
This is one of my Favourite songs of all time..I was expecting to hate this..I am a bit of a 'purist'.I guess you could say..I prefer original Artists...You haven't done too bad a job Ricky...Nobody is Steve Winwood or 'Blind Faith'..but,good work..I will check out more of your Music...Hmmm...Interesting version..:)
Man, talk about benefits of punchin' in the 'ole echo and reverb knobs! Grandeur in simplicity. And what kinda pathetic moron would punch the dislike red button for this marvelous Ricky Shades cover of "THE" quintessential Blind Faith classic. Fabulous vid. 110% rated.
Wow! You've done a really great job on this! I'll frequently listen to covers done by little- or unknown on here and usually am unimpressed. You definitely HAVE impressed me. Good going! Hauntingly good voice, gread guiter...Love it! Play on, man, play on!
Bravo! You have reinvented a classic and made it your own. Awe-inspiring work, Ricky...keep em coming! This music has to live on brother, and you do it justice for sure!
Blind faith - Jimi Hendrix - janis joplin etc Even skipped school to see them ; I love your version though It has a brightness and the soul that belongs !
AHHHHHHHHHHH what bad luck !!! Since I am from Holland Woodstock was a bit too far ;-)
But there is one night I remember when Jimi and Janis where both in Amsterdam One in paradiso the other in "de melkweg"and after their gig they jammed in Paradiso till 4 PM You would have loved it ! great to be 51
Thanks for your comments visionarydreams. Yeap, this song is a real classic. Blind Faith was only together for one album. I think they only perfomed it live once.
Thank you Lilleny for your comment. Really much appreciated. Just wish my camera had an audio input so that the sound would be much "cleaner." Thanks again talented lady! :)
Holy cats! How gorgeous is this??? Thanks so much Ricky...this is an all-time favorite of mine and I've NEVER heard a good cover...until now. Beautiful collection of guitars you've got there...this one sounds fabulous!
Thank YOU for comments. It's also one of my fav songs. Performers are usually their own worse critic and I've been meaning to someday redoing this song with better sound quality. I wish I could find the B/W video taken of me doing this song in the middle of an empty, garbage strewn lot (lol) in NYC in 1971 filmed by filmmaker and video pioneer Bill Creston.
Ian Anderson from Tull? hahahaha
