I can imagine, that your 8 month old puppy is a bunch of energy! And it will be like that for a few more years ;-) :-) Which is a good thing. You only have to make sure, that you focus your puppy's energy in the right direction ;-) Casanova is 1 year now and he is energy pur ;-) .....so it is a good opportunity for him to be so focused and disciplined in the show ring!
If you combine socializing with having the opportunity to get rid of the puppy energy, I would say "yes" ;-) It mostly comes down to training, practice and lots of opportunities to perform and excel (in what ever activity) is helping the puppies to find their balance. ;-) Puppies are eager to learn and hope for getting a treat and praises! Sometimes they are so full of energy that they do not know how to show you HOW smart they are. You just have to find a way to focus their energy! :-)
Good luck and LOTS of FUN......that's what is all about anyway! :-) :-).....just another little hint....Do never play rough games with your puppy like tug war or chasing or "fighting". And always praise your puppy, when it just lays down and does nothing. You can name that behaviour like "Good calm"....."relax" and give a little treat and some praises. As I said earlier, they hope for every chance getting a praise and a treat. So just treat the behaviour you like. Even it comes by surprise ,-)

is it true that a well socialized puppy will calm down faster?
