Can you imagine one of these Victors being sent back in time and landing on a RAF Bomber Base full of Avro Lancasters ! The Base would have vacated itself very quickly by the sheer 'fear factor' of this Bomber...lol
Great video of one of my favourite aircraft. Even today the HP Victor still has something futuristic about it (until you watch the cockpit videos of Lusty Lindy!).
Brilliant footage, buddy. Without a doubt THE sexiest plane ever to grace the RAF. I can only dream of working on/with an interesting aircraft type in the RAF now. Being born in 1991, I believe I was born 40 years too late. What used to be the Royal Air Force is now nearer to 'Royal Air Should-be-force-but-actually-just-a-smouldering-crater-of-broken-dreams-careers-and-global-influence' or 'RASFAJSCBDC'. Rant mode off, merry cynical Christmas.
I always thought that they were a very pretty airplane. From certain angles they looked like a sci-fi movie prop sitting on the ramp. I got to crawl around on the K.2s a bit when I worked the flight line at Offutt AFB, NE back in the eighties. They'd visit several times a year. We got on well with the air crews, they were good folks and true professionals. I have a lot of respect for the RAF.
@gnark1ll1us I remember friends of mine on the same deployment telling me the yanks thought it was some kind of brand new stealth bomber ! it had the looks for sure
Superbly crafted video, thanks. It's amazing how futuristic this aircraft looks, even in 2012!

I bet the Victor Pilots back in the 50s/60s made sure they always touched down softly while carrying the nuclear bomb under their butts!

Just one look at this thing & you can tell this is a plane only the Brits could love. Sad, that the legacy of RAF bomber Command is all a memory.
WALTERBROADDUS 5 months ago
@WALTERBROADDUS Sorry, but you're just a bit wrong on this. The Victor was a bird that was so ugly it's beautiful.
An automotive equivalent would be the Gumpert.

One of the most beautiful flying objects ever built by mankind, amen!

joshomezza 10 months ago
@joshomezza
No, it was retired from service in 1993, as the last one of the V Bombers. Maybe a few still fly in shows or so, that's possible.

Superb forward view in these isnt there? For such a large plane.
Haha, I wonder if when teh victors arrived in Saudi, the Arabs were like 'Allah Akbar, sell us some of those planes, they are so mean looking'
We were like 'sry they are half a century old and about to be chopped up for dog food tins'
