  • You lost your job as a haircutter why again??

  • WTF! I hope you are kidding us and it was a plastic tree...

  • This may be worse than expertvillage..

  • @maksenDK don't curse nothing is worse then expertvillage......although...

  • I don't believe it, you are the worst bonsais on the world, this work is terribile!!!

  • noooooooooooooo! 7 22 :(

  • The soil should be actually well draining too much water-logged soil could mold the roots

  • @AF501GUY Even though watering regularly for pines is good too much could suffocate the roots correct me if I am wrong?

  • @AF501GUY The sphagnum moss has chemicals that protects roots from root-rot and as long as there is good size holes in the pot the moss drains pretty easily while staying moist.

  • @ChassyGirl0 Thanks

  • I would like to see what happened to that juniper after a month or two. Chlorosis? Tipburn? Root Rot?

  • no is good

  • "... And i don't think we need this piece over here at all, so i'm getting rid of it."

    Haha!

  • Ge is already a star! haha I like to give the bonsais a oriental shape, but I really like your style too... sometimes the trees just need to grow their natural way to appreciate their true beauty

  • O_O LOL

  • Your pottery is terrible but the info is great. haha.

  • Perfect example of what always happens when western culture adopt a foreign art....total disrespect. Sphagnum moss man you are a butcher.

  • @AirForceLebo just another method to obtain an aesthetic result,, does eastern culture get western culture when it tries to replicate? Its not disrespect. just a way of getting a result, a look, Take cartoons,,,a western tv driven medium,,we get manga, take rock/r&b and then listen to eastern takes on the genre,,it mostly doesnt work,,in our eyes,or in our ears to correct myself. I am not arguing that the skill, the time, the pure years invested are for nought, but its an intro to the art.

  • Can you suggest any good books on bonsai caring ?

  • That was Betty Grabel

  • this plant looks sad

  • Hello, i've made my first bonsai, and i'm searching for experienced people who can give me tips about my juniper bonsai, there's a video of it on my channel. Please watch and comment. Thanks!

  • i feel that you can do what you want with your trees but when you put these videos on the internet as a source of information, you raise yourself to another level. if you are going to teach something, you should know what the fuck you are doing. i feel sorry for newcomers that come across your videos first. not to mention, junipers thrive in a fast draining mixture, not moss. idiot.

  • @jcore316 he did choose one pot over the other for drainage. I think he understands drainage for the species.

  • why sphagnum moss? I've always thought that a mixture of sand, and a gravel mixture like Akadama was needed for junipers.

  • I wonder how often do I have to water it. Thanks for the video.

  • this is not bonsai that poor tree this guy is blindly chopping away at it never would that pass as bonsai

  • A bonsai is not suppose to look neat it is supposed to be what you feel so it this guy feels that his chopping is right then this is the most beautiful bonsai ever

  • No bonsai is a skilled art are there are rules to it. Not just what you feel if you think that is okey thats crazy and you should go to a bonsai expo one day so you can see what real bonsai is

  • @ memphis550 you 're right, he should follow certain rules in bonsai. This was a nice bonsai material before he wasted it. A letter "Y" shape doesn't exist in bonsai world. Maybe for him its just ok but for me this is a completely crap!

  • Thx for the vid, great job!

  • ???? not good

  • TRue it typically takes patience and time to make great Bonsai. However this guy is making a VIDEO. As such, it works-providing rudimentray education to people interested in starting bonsai.

  • Yes, there are many sources for details on bonsai care, including books and You Tube videos by the traditionalists. Unfortunately, I am limited to 9 minutes and 59 seconds on You tube per video.

  • thank you very much for this video i subbed

  • Why dont you want to add/ mix materials with the sphagnum moss?

  • that was good i lernt a lot from that

  • Its true this is done rather quick and rough, but you must also remember that not all bonsai are started from seed. Many bonsai artists begin their bonsai by going out to the mountains or even the forests find a tree and take that tree or shrub home with them and do a similar process like this. But they don't leave off in the rough cut this man did it here. But they add additional steps to begin their design.

  • wait tell me about the chinese view to japanese view part from anyone on this comment list...see my bonsai has all sides view of a perfect bonsai but one is not? does this in anyway affect it being called a true bonsai?

  • Some of the comments are correct in that a bonsai purist would scoff at this method of "bonsai" creation. Practitioners of the Japanese and Chinese form of the art will tell you that it takes years and a great deal of patience to make a true bonsai. That being said, there is nothing wrong with this method for beginners or casual hobbyists. Not everyone who paints has to paint in the style of Da Vinci. It certainly does hurt the plant (plants have no central nervous system). Overall, great videos

  • If this guy was a painter he would be the equivalent of someone finger painting on the walls with his own poop! This guy is giving out nothing but bad information. Butchering a tree for the sake of butchering a tree does not make a bonsai. I dont care if you are a beginner. That tree looks like ass!

  • hi, my name is diego, i from venezuela, valle de la pascua. i too make bonsai, but i have little. is very good your work

  • what is the name on this plant ??? i new fanatic of the bonsai !!!

  • it is a juniper

  • to all the bad comments: man go to the hell why us not are whit green pece or simething like this, is a cute tree and after a super cute tree, the tree surviving of any way soo go to protec cow's o something like this (im from arg soo i write very bad in inglish)

  • Cry Cry, any plant manipulated by man could be reffered to by sensitive people as plant torture the second you snip the branch! only ruff at the start then the tree is enjoyed for generations

  • it ´s a juniperus procumbens...

but please don´t do this at home.this way.

     that´s plant torture.

and wont be a bonsai anytime.

  • apalled abit disgusted? lol! adjust your meds!!

  • Hi jerry ,ive watched a few of your videos but after watching this one and reading the comments,i just had to write a comment and im apalled and a bit disgusted that you didnt know what type of juniper it was you were cutting up.How can you care for that tree and give it the right requirements if you dont know what it is.Also i would like to ask have you been doing bonsai for all the years you have used this moss?because i havent seen one good bonsai specimen if u have been doing it for 16+yrs

  • What will happen if you mix the moss with dirt or gravel? because it says in one of my bonsai book to add it to help roots and foliage color for chinese juniper or shipaku ( very good for bonsai )

  • Not only is it recommended, but it's crucial for most, if not all coniferous trees. Gravel is 'grit' and is needed for soil aeration, as well as drainage. Make sure the gravel size is correct. Soil mixtures vary, but I use 10% peat, 40% akadama, 30% volcanic lava or grit, and 20% bark humus. Some masters in Japan use 100% coarse sand so they can totally control all the nutrients. Your roots will branch out more with grit, but as for color, you need fertilizer high in nitrogen.

  • Hi, This is some sort of ground cover juniper, I'm not sure of the name. Sorry. Jerry

  • You're wasting these poor plants... You better stop doing it!

  • what kind of juniper is it??

  • The tree he's butchering is called a green mound juniper, aka procumbens nanas. However, don't subscribe to his bonsai antics. Any bonsai artist will tell you that he's a butcher. Wrong potting mix, terrible pruning technique, wrong repotting technique, et al. He doesn't even know what variety of juniper he's butchering. Amazing.
