  • My favorite movement is the 2nd movement

  • LOVE that shirt's collar...haha just had to say it

  • Bellisima interpretacion !

  • Absolute amazing! Love it! :)

  • Man, this is pretty good...

Adagio cantabile is definitely my favorite movement in this sonata.

  • it's YouTube...there's no such thing as "Superb" audio quality.

  • I'm learning this! It's so pretty +_+ When I finish it (I've only learnt 8 bars so far so it'll be a while from now haha) I'll upload it!

  • God, that was bloody awesome

  • This was my favorite song to play... I haven't played it in a while though, hope to learn it again soon.

  • Ack, the arpeggio at 0:35 erks me. All's forgiven because he has the most perfect hand balance.

  • Beethoven wrote "Adagio Cantabile", if he would have listened to Barenboim, he would have changed it to "Perfection".

  • muito lindo!!

Sou fã de Beethoven, belíssima execução.

  • Very beautiful

  • This is what modern music cannot give to ur soul.

  • @Nuno4lbano Thank you, I was reading about mondern music a while ago...

    THIS was awesome.

    Regards!

  • SMOOOCH

  • Such beauty as this interpretation by Barenboim is truly a rare treat. I am working on this piece myself, and it is inspirational beyond words to hear such a masterful presentation of this beautiful Beethoven sonata. Bravo Barenboim, bravo!

  • everything perfect, thanks mr. Barenboin

  • You can search for any other interpretation of beethoven's sonatas, no one has the same combination of sensibility and comprehension of beethoven's intentions and spirit. It is absolutely perfect. It s a kind of evidence for ears and soul. Technique matters less with a slow sonata, but what is more difficult to acquire, is what you won t find in any school and with any professor, it s when what someone does with his fingers is instantanetly the expression of his soul

  • @teofeel I've never read so much bullshit in such a short amount of time.

  • Comment removed

  • @LucasGonzalezTube Well, I've just read the shortest bullshit in my life --> your hateful sentence.

Teofeel is right, I don't see a reason why that what he wrote should be a bullshit...

  • @Standa95 Wow, you came up with all that by yourself? Cheers.

  • 0_0 wow

  • bravo, bravo maestro.

  • Am I the only one who has noise (hussing) on HD?

  • His music is what feelings should sound like!

  • Certified Intergalactic! Daniel Barenboim - a musical genius!

  • every other plays i listen, this one gives me the best feeling ever! really love the way daniel barenboim played it WITH EMOTION!

  • ¡Sublime!

  • When I first heard this song, I thought it was easy peasy. As the rythm is slow and all.

But back in real life, it's goddamm hard lol

  • @darkspartan78 tell me about it T_T it challenges my pinky

  • @darkspartan78 Agree! i used to think like that. And i just only can play the intro. But this song, don't know somehow it brings me so much inspirations, cannot stop making improvisation versions. It's like a train taking me to new lands which i can see through every single notes. So amazing song!

  • @darkspartan78 I know right?! I've been working on it for over a year and am not even close to perfection.

  • @23Nellie1

I've been working on it for 2month and I can only play to 2:43. Even if I know the notes it's hard to master it.

  • @darkspartan78 Yeah, I know what you mean. And even when I get the notes, rythem, everything, I will never be able to play it with the expression he does... :/

  • @darkspartan78 Nothing is hard if you practice

  • Oh, Daniel Barenboim - amazing pianist!!!!

  • BURAVO!

  • One of my favorite pieces

  • This melody is like hapiness after the storm

  • go away random man

  • how can he take so much care with every note and still play so expressively? it's so measured, but not mathematical in the least. this is music.

  • beautiful

  • Where does Daniel get his shirts?

  • Best moder version there is... Stunning :)

  • Breathtaking!

  • I love how Vladimir Horowitz played the piece to perfection.

  • beautiful movement ! , It is like a magic dream.

  • You can see the notes bouncing in your head.

  • parfait!

  • Impeccabile!

  • quase dormi aki..afffffffff

  • just perfect! Most of the other versions on youtube are played too loud and too fast. I love this one!

  • ¿Se puede llorar?

  • he is feeling the music and it is obvious that he is delighted by the way he plays it.

  • the best best best!!! hello, see my video now, please!! thanks

  • whoever dislike this, they're whore!

  • And I'd like to add that when I first saw this performance, it taught me why people move while playing music. It's the feeling of the music itself in you and expressing it. It's hard to express such emotion without moving.

  • Now I'll leave a real comment.

This performance... Is breathtaking. I don't know of many words which can be used to describe something like this. This is art in its purest form; this is the Mona Lisa of music. This is pure genius and takes more talent than anything else in the world.

Barenboim did a perfect job. He performed this so tangibly, he showed the world just how incredible music can be with this performance. And of course, Beethoven would be pleased. This song is beauty itself.

  • Who the fuck could dislike this video? I'd love to find those two people and slaughter them.

  • Bravo !! There are no words to descibe this masterful performance...

  • The best performance of this piece I've ever heard and seen! At counter point 2:14 the contact with Beethoven's soul is totally awesome!

  • Es Argentino!! Viva argentina!!

  • this piece is not pathetique at all

  • @yeeerk haha nice it's actually pronounced "pah-tay-teek"

  • Those 2 people are whats wrong with the world today. This performance can't get any closer to perfection. STOP HATING!!!!

  • @smirnov452 this is a really good interpretation but isn't perfect.

  • Best rendition ever. I tried to play the piano but it was not in the cards for me. I do know enough, however, to be certain (at least for me) that it is proportionately more difficult to play a piece slower than faster-compare another great pianist but always faster Valentina Lisitsa. Flawless though she is, I prefer this rendition for its slower, and i think more difficult, tempo.

  • fucking love this! this is the best piece of music ever

  • I'm amazed.

  • one of the few videos on youtube where the performer actually voices the melody correctly, bravo

  • Perfect! Beautifully interpreted so naturally--not affected.

  • There's no "pathetic" here... this is definitely "pathetique"

    BRAVO!!!

  • Beautifully interpreted--the mood flows throughout.

  • beautiful beautiful beautiful, so much like a lullaby. I think it can do with more rubato and he can cut loose a little more but still, wow..

  • omg i have to comment again cuz im so in touch with this tune T_T

  • omg i almost cried!

  • Who is the ass who disliked this video? How insulting.

  • @ThePoliticalMusician

Probably someone was clicking like and misfired... the only excuse I can muster.

  • @ThePoliticalMusician he obviously had no sound

  • Perfect and touching. My favourite version. Masterpiece

  • Wordless! Love this!

  • heavenly and perfect.

  • I have heard Wilhelm Kempff's version so long that it is a bit ingrained, but I enjoyed this version as well.

  • Played

  • Where is that recital player?

  • My favorite interpretation. His hands seem to flow like oil on the piano

  • Dios no existe, Barenboim si...

    esta música te hace volar...

  • i get shivvers from hearing such beatiful music ...masterpiece <3

  • He's not just playing the song,he's breathing it !

  • @coglione11 it's not a song

  • best version i've heard so far, for me. C:

  • Comparing Barenboim playing this movement to anyone else is ludicrous. His absolute virtuosity and connection is incredible. Never mind the spiritual aspect..the cerebral quality is stellar.

  • I've listened to many different interpretations of this movement, all well-played and moving in their own way. But this one feels like the "right" one. It just somehow captures that lyrical, song-like feeling - cantabile - that eludes even the most technically proficient pianists. I would want this interpretation to be played at my funeral.

  • @SadisticPyro i watch a show with this guy giving a master class on beethovens sonatas

  • @SadisticPyro A person like you,who post such a moving comment, wouldn't deserve death ;-)

  • yes, barenboim is great, and yes, barenboim is definitely one of the greatest living musicians, but i prefer kempf's interpretation

  • I love the way he does the transitions, and I can't help but be drawn into the mood he creates with such depth of feeling - slow but not ponderous, careful but not strict, a reverent masterpiece in my opinion.

  • I would want to know who would hate this, because I think it would be impossible to find people that do or their just crazy.

  • debe haber sido muy dificil para ese publico abstenerse de aplaudir al final de este movimiento

  • great version

  • Although i know its my imagination, but it seems as if the music is alive with an orchestra backing the piano... magnificent, just magnificent

  • This is better than Kempff!

  • @ThePVGS1 waaaaaay better :)

  • excellent. And he rather looks like Ludwig :)

  • That must have been a smart audience. How did they know not to clap at the end of this second movement? (out of 3)

  • @TruthfuLie you dont have to be smart to know Beethoven.

  • wow...that's perfection!

  • vamooooo al fin te encontreeee increible!!!!

    beautiful song!!!!!!!the best :D

  • Daniel is just an amazing performer. I love his style and feeling. I grew up musically listening at his performances (in vinil records), and I simply haven't find anyone who could play this well. Thanks for posting this video!.

  • can anyone tell me what grade this movement is?

  • Does it matter?

  • I love this song! Great performance! Awesome!

  • Wonderful piano... I wish it for me... a day...

  • This performance is perfection. Seriously.

  • this guy's face is awesome lol

  • made in Argentina boys! ;)

  • alexilmagnifico: right on the money, if you like it, spend the money, but it would be cool to be able to watch all 1020 minutes of these 6 DVDs online. keep wondering when netflix et al are going to catch up to the online music services in level of DVD content they stream. with music, it's almost getting to the point where a subscription to a service is the only thing that makes sense.

  • Barenboim is my idol

  • does anyone have this concert event in a playlist

  • come on.... buy the dvd collection... its a same to ask for this collection on youtube.. come on... its brand new and if we want to listen to artists recordings we need to support them...

  • Barenboim is definitely one of the greatest living musicians/performers/conductors.

So many people play this piece and they all try to make it sound good. But Barenboim just makes it amazing. He's music is always so emotionally deep and well thought. Every note makes sense.

  • @iamviolist

Every time I've heard a wonderful performance, and I comment, I can't find words for what I'm going to say. You just said what I thought! Great comment!

  • The best version I've ever heard. Too! magnifico!

  • The best version I've ever heard.

  • Is great to see Barenboim! he is a pure romantic pianist!! thanks for sharing this Hi Quality video!!

  • Best interpretion ever.
