@sputerhead Yes you can :) but if you don't find any papers its worthless, car without papers is worthless it can't be registered, even if you start searching for papers in e.g. your county court house you must be careful because if the car is stolen than you might be in trouble! :)
I once had an idea to do a photo essay of abandoned cars across America. The idea was to trace back each car, using available VIN numbers and state DMV records. I wanted to see if I could find a story on some of these cars; who owned it new, where was the car first sold, who owned it along the car's lifeline, etc, etc. A story of the person or persons, family or families involved in the car's history. Not possible for all but, perhaps, some? It would be fun to know the stories, it's history
@MrRonnieGWhen i find one, i always try to picture the old abandoned cars how they were when they were new and how it must have been for the owner to bring them home for the first time, or the journeys they have been on. It is very interesting if you think about it. Good idea.
Ghost towns....abandoned farms....cars so old they are now 'classic'. Interesting to see, wonder who lived there, what their lives were like, why the town/farm was abandoned.
@tvcat1 Some towns are abandoned because of the simple reasons like what happened in Cars. Some towns, especially out west, were bypassed by a new road. Before that new road, people would have to pass through the town because the existing highway became the main street of that town. When a new road is built nearby, the old highway becomes an off ramp, and the town is no longer constantly flowing with drivers, which meant no revenue for the town. Therefore, many towns were abandoned.
the first 2 pics are from alberta ive seen places like this many times before the road is cut off so the only way to get to these old farms i son foot leaving them preserved truly amazing
the reason they were abandoned is because when they were, the owners wouldve seen them as "old junk" and not worth fixing or taking with them, so they wouldve been left there. its a shame now but at the time they didnt see it as throwing away a valuable classic, just junk.
This video inspired me for some reason. When I graduate in 2 years, I'm gonna do 4-8 years in the Army, & then I'm going to wander around the North & South American continent for the rest of my life.
@majorporpoise lol.....it costs a ton of money to be able to roam around, if you don't want to be sleeping on the ground. If you want to be able to really pull this dream off.....don't get married and save every cent you make while in the service. You might be able to have enough money to do this a few years in comfort. You may find that a few years will seem like the rest of your life.
Well, if you had enough people to help and a big enough trailer to haul 'em, you could pick these things up IF you were out in the middle of nowhere and there was no one to tell you otherwise. That would be great!!
@my5guysgirl Thats for sure some people have 1000 acors and don't even know whats out there and even if its governorment own land means its everyones land out there in the middle of nowhere just pick up some junk car and get a salvage title.
Most of those photos were from the ghost town of Bodie, CA. A place that is definitely worth seeing.

Some cars just looks better left alone as the the -37 Chevy coupe. Let it rust in peace!
Just love restoring cars, but some must survive as non survivers.......Get it?
campingkillen 2 months ago
does anyone know if these cars can be registered even if you dont have the title ???
deputy1040 3 months ago
@deputy1040 you just need to fill a lost title or if there is an owner to the land where the car is at then he can sign bill of sale..
