i still always think one tree hill should have ended here....yeah i would have been sad to see it end back then but if i knew what the seasons would be like after this and having two main characters leave (lucas,peyton) and have the whole original brother theme ruined well then i would say for it to stop at season 4. man...the first 4 seasons were excellent, really dramatic and exciting the whole way through, with pretty much every character having interesting personalities. the seasons after that were still good but....in my opinion the quality started to decline a bit. especially after lucas and peyton left, and they threw in all these new main characters.

i agree that they should have ended it here, even though it would've been sad to see the show end.

Paul Johnanson, who plays Dan Scott, is such a good actor some of his scenes give me shivers he's that good in them. Absolutely love seasons 1-4 of OTH. I wish there were more moments like the very last one on the river court though :( rumour has it Lucas and Peyton might be returning for season 9 so all is not lost folks ;)

Season 1-4 was definitely the golden years of the show. This scene captured the emotion of parting ways after graduation and moving on with life. But I still enjoy one tree hill now just in a different way, they graduated and so they have to have different drama not the same high school stuff. Its different but a good different.

I don't mean to sound arrogant or anything when I say that, but the brilliance of this scene is that it fully captures all the emotions that come with ending such a unique chapter of your life. This is my favourite episode of them all, It only just beat season 4 episode 9 i think it was, the national championship game. At the end of this episode you get to know why One Tree Hill is as special as it is, sure any program could portray friends being together but in this you have a sense of family with Nathan and Lucas. It is also made better because Nathan and Lucas faced off once before and if not for that they wouldn't be where they are in this episode. It is truly inspirational.

You can see those things in some other shows (Melrose Place). Look at Gossip Girl, that show is great. I remember something Brooke said in the 4th season finale about love triangles being "so high school" and i thought that would be the end of love triangle problems and the start of new, fresh conflicts; but low and behold the lucas-lindsey-peyton love triangle was the focal conflict of season 5 and it was just SO old, because we all KNEW lucas and peyton would end up together, since that is what Mark Schwann has openly expressed he wanted to happen....
