This is the second time I've heard of Mayo on the bird this week. Never heard of it before. Will give it a try this December. Thanks for the great channel.
Also...let it REST BEFORE you carve it!! I do about 20 minutes to let the juices re-distribute...works on ANY meat! (but I usually only do 10 minutes on everything else, but my turkeys are big, so it takes longer)
I always cook mine breast side DOWN for the first hour or so (about the first 1/3 cooking time) then regular the rest of the time. Comes out juicy and perfect every time!
Great video Eric! Entertaining as usual. Why didn't you put the mayonnaise on the underside of the turkey? You tend to look to your left of the camera...what are you looking at? Do you every make your one mayonnaise? Can one make mustard at home?
@IndianaMatt85 hi matt, i did put the mayo under the turkey, i just didn't show that in the video. and we have a how to make mayonnaise video on our youtube channel!
working on a home made mustard video too. thx, eric.
Ever since I was a kid, my parents always roasted a turkey in a Nesco Roaster. I bought one myself quite a few years ago, and have cooked turkeys in it with a lot of success. I had a small oven like yours and when it died, we got a 30-inch oven in the space allotted in our kitchen and it's good for turkey as well. I really felt for you when you were trying to maneuver that turkey. Yikes. Potential "burn city" with the grease factor. Get a GOOD ROASTING PAN and ditch that one Eric. Too flimsy!!!
Those doggies were trying to hypnotize you to walk to the door Eric. Then they would have been off with the turkey. I know that look. My German Shepherd used to try that with my mom years ago, lol!
Oh man Eric. We've gotta take up a collection for you to get a new stove up there. Frugal is one thing but it's time for that stove to go to stove heaven. C'mon. New Stove for Christmas. What'd ya say?
@blukatzen i'm working on a kickstarter campaign, if you join our email list - you can sign up on our site or youtube channel page - we'll let you know. thx, eric.
My wife always uses the bag and it turns out great, but a pain to get out of the bag. I never seen the video of how to carve a turkey yet. (will go watch it later this week. I like cutting the breast along the bone and then cutting into smaller pieces.
Big congrats on having labs that are looking very fit, and not overweight like so many
