One of the best concerts I EVER saw,and I've seen a crapload..great songwriters...great song..and yes,I've done too many drugs also.Still a wonderful song..I picture it coming from the POV of an immigrant/foreign exchange student,new to America,in High School,nerdy/stoner type,back in the 80's maybe..asking the hot cheerleader chick to go to the prom...or maybe he's asking Ally Sheedy's character in The Breakfast Club.

I've never heard the Violent Femmes before... and if they take down this video, they have no one to blame but themselves for not getting my business. Because they will get it BECAUSE of a violation of the terms of the venue. I agree with brianf01... This will help more than hurt Violent Femmes.

@bryanpoko this is crazy the first time I heard this song was in the 6 months I was living in Milwaukee (originally from L.A.) and it really spoke to me, with me esp the part about the "ugly lake" - then I find out they are from Milwaukee. Nice place, shitty weather

Why do they care if they are filmed? This is the stuff that fans want to see, and makes us buy more music. I think youtube gets the more exposure than anything. I love Violent Femmes. They need to take a lesson from Phish and Greatful Dead on this issue.

oh, i seriously doubt that the actual band had issues with getting filmed. it's the venue's policy to not allow cameras into the shows. the stupid thing is that they don't search people as you go in and if you get caught, they don't throw you out. they'll just confiscate your stuff until the end of the show...
