You are crazy!! like he has said in interviews after interviews, He is not in it for the money He don't care two get rich twice in his life and also it is not like his life can improve anymore than it is now.
If you look he is subbing 20% of wind energy to free up 20% of Natural gas that is used to make Electricity. then use Natural gas to power cars vans trucks to reduce foreign oil.
T. Boone Pickens is correct we cannot drill our way to energy independence. We give welfare yearly to big oil....why so shocked he's getting his pathway greased? He's just smarter and quite a bit ahead of his oil buddies. I don't like his republican politics but the man know oil. Underestimate the man if you wish...I know a lot about him...I don't.
The Ogallala Aquifer is the worlds largest known aquifer. It lies under the American High Plains, an eight-state region (Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming) which spans 174,000 square miles.
Its called the Ogallala Aquifer. There is 3.3 billion acre-feet of freshwater in the Ogallala Aquifer [an acre-foot is a way of measuring water; it is enough water to cover one acre of land with water 1 foot deep].
@morelltechyahoocom The US population is expected to be 1 billion by 2100 and T Boone will make a killing selling water to the crowded southwest. Funny they shipped out all the jobs from around the Great lakes with NAFTA you can turn the faucet off to the country and control the people you can't live without water
You guys rock! I never really bought into the pickens plan as wind won't power my auto, but I never knew the extent of his motives. While some will argue the electric car crap, an electric car requires charging for 8 and driving for 1 hour. Wind has it's place as do all energy sources.I say if we combine them where applicable instead of all or nothing we'll suceed
Yes CNG can power cars, however there are no filling stations currently available.True we could transition some of our vehicles to that fuel in time but for the present we need more availability of the black gold, lol.
@marklincoln We need smaller cars and less of them. We need to clear out all the criminals and 3rd world invaders and restore safety to the country. People will start walking, taking public transportation and riding bikes instead of driving everywhere again. People fear being robbed by 3rd world trash

@Fruityfed Why are the illegal aliens concentrated in states with natural resources. When they get legalized, will they vote to let them drill offshore steal all the natural gas and coal from the Appalachian mountains will they vote.
Create such a economic crisis and strangle the people to get these natural resources.
Who cares if Boone cleans up during this process. I'd rather see American Boone making money from our energy needs than those in the Middle East that hate us. Gimme a break.
So what is your plan? Or do you just want to gripe about someone who actually has a plan?
i care if he "cleans up" during this process.if he came out and said i got this great plan thats gonna make me a shitload of money cuz i snaked my way through loopholes. i wouldnt support it but at least it woukd be the truth. instead he wants you to think he is doing something great for america and you. in reality its so his pockets get fat.
Whats garbage about a man that wants to use wind energy as a cover to buy land and water rights? You think thats fair? You want to pay more for your tap water and bottled water because someone owns the rights to the source? You give us a break.
It is amazing what some people will allow in the name of 'renewable' energy. Apparently they don't care how corrupt government is or how much one man makes or obtains. All the terrible things they say about oil companies is all of the sudden ok if it's a renewable source. Sorry, but i'm not in to trading dictated energy for another.
do you know that wind energy needs a backup plan for the days when it isn't windy enough? do you realize what backing up a wind farm the size of Pickens' would take! It's like running a whole town on a generator (like they do a hospital)
Besides, we do not have enough steel to build the windmills! So just because someone has a plan doesn't make it worthwhile.EDverything-almost-that we use is made from oil.Plastic,tires,roads,asprin,clothes,etc.We aren't replacing it for a loooong time.
There have been innovative developments in storing windpower. My fave is storing energy as a compressed fluid. Simple & relatively easy to manage.
I am, however, curious where you're hearing we wouldn't have enough steel to build windmills (even though steel is just one material; remember, airplanes are mostly aluminum or carbon fiber composites).
"just because someone has a plan doesn't make it worthwhile".
Exactly my thought every time I hear about McCain's nuclear power plans. Well said.
Excellent work. I suggest everyone google the Ogalalla Aquifer and look at the map. I'm all for the wind energy (balls to the wall on that one), but when you start talking about tapping the water I'm very nervous. Go to the Nebraska Sandhills. See the wetalands and prime grazing ground. Now imagine it dry. Use all the wind you want Boone. Kill my home... over my dead body.
So what would you prefer? Giving some money to Pickens, or giving a whole lot more to the Saudis, who want to reduce the status of women to mere property? Try rocking the facts on the U.S. oil habit first so you have some idea of the business-as-usual alternative you are implicitly suggesting. You might also want to educate yourself about "peak oil" so you understand what we're in for if we don't develop renewable energy before the oil supply starts falling increasingly short of demand.
Peak Oil is unproven-it is based on what we THINK we have! We have many trillions of barrels of oil that has been untouched. We need to DRILL so that we are not dependent on the Saudis. Look into Picken's plan it revolves around him making money on everything from water to GAS.How do you think the oil got in the ground? What makes it a non-renewable resource?Has it been proved non-renewable??And what is cleaner,as versatile, and as cheap?NOTHING.That's why oil brought us out of the dark ages.
"getting off oil" is a farce - it can't happen because so much of what we use is made from oil. Sneakers, asprin, roadways, bike tires, clothing, plastic, and on and on. If want to get off of oil then oyu better stop using your computer - it is made from oil!
Not entirely accurate. While it's true so much of what we manufacture is derived from petroleum, it's not simply "made from oil". Plastics, the most obvious example, may be mineral-based or organically derived.
The computer I'm using may or may not be "made from oil". Just like we have corn-based ethanol, there are plant-based plastics. There are even bacteria (e.g. pseudomonas) which eat styrene and defecate medical grade bioplastic. Google "Kevin O'Connor white biotechnology" to learn more.
Just as Peak Oil is based on projections, so too are reports "we have many trillions of barrels of oil". They're linked. Discounting one discounts them both. Also, it's a slight exaggeration to say we're "dependent on the Saudis". The DoE reports the U.S. imports 58% of its petroleum & of only 11% of it comes from Saudi Arabia.
As to Pickens', I prefer "making money" capitalism to pure socialism.
Lastly, it's a stretch to say "oil brought us out of the dark ages" (which ended around 1000 AD).
Good job. Next time try to keep the ghosts in the background from walking past the doorway....and keep informing the public about Pickens and his using tax payer's money to steal land from others.
T.Boone Pickens is an evil man.. People should be screaming bloody murder for what he is doing.
