Awwwwww poor poirot. Someone needs to tell her that a third grader has better accents than her and that she can not tell a good mustache when she sees one
Her Russian accent is awful too. But she wouldn't be alone in that. No one ever gets Russian accents right. They should have gotten her diction coaches.
I think also think it was probably difficult to try to manufacture the feeling and buzz in the room that a smash hit show would have had.
@schaferhund11 Money isnt the problem. I recently saw Le Trou, a little seen 1950s French prisonmovie which blew my mind. It took very little money to make that masterpiece, it took talent and passion. The Brits dont have such treasures. The Germans for most of their history didnt have much money to work with, yet they have such a beautiful filmhistory. The same goes for the Japanese, the French, Italians, etc.
How come the Brits are such horrible filmmakers.. Their movies allways seem to be so dull and amateuristic. Germany, Italy, France and Spain all have an extremely rich and diverse filmculture, youd expect the English to have one to. Especially with all those masters of fiction they have produced, ike S`peare, Christie, Dahl, etc
@shnoepie1 Firstly, this is a TV show, not a film.
Secondly, are you choosing to ignore The Third Man, Brighton Rock, Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire, In Bruges, The King's Speech and all the films of Alfred Hitchcock etc. just because they don't fit in with your little theory?
@Mr1958louief I guess for its time it was funny for the crowd. That actress is really quite good, though. I always wondered how Carlotta as described in the book would look like in real life. :)
hahahaha theres that look, when poirot asks hastings about his wife. that moron look. no 1 can do it better than hastings XXD. smh/xxd, maaan, seeing this has me missing ole dumb dumb.XXD. hes such a hoot.
I can't believe Hastings finally got a woman, let alone a wife! He's Always struck out with all the ladies!
Actually, he did get to first base with one, i remember the episode ended with a picturesque sunset evening on a pier at the beach and the heroine had returned to him with her feelings accompanied by her lips in a warm embrace that lasted till it went dark..... the credits that is.
He went to hug her and she decided against it and gave him a firm handshake. she even looked at his hands as if she'd prefer that he didn't and continued through the warm welcome with forced laughter. I thought they were all old chums? Why couldn't he get a hug?.... it's hasting for peat's sake! harmless hastings. Give him a hug girl!
@thepcgamewalkthrough Possibly because Mrs Hastings might move in too when she's wound up their, affairs in Argentina, and as an old bachelor fixed in his habits....
i love how hastings says shes a beautiful woman as she is walking down the stairs and it shows them watching her from "behind". hastings hastings hastings... and if im not mistaken poirot takes a little peek
@airomjg sigh! :P @5:50 you can see her descending with her companion. they're in a building with different levels of open floors. Poirot and Hastings stand on the landing to the left of her, below the steps which she is descending. u can see that 6:14. she continues to descend further, while Poirot and Hastings stand above (on the same landing which she had just passed) watching her leave. Naturally with Hastings lusting after her
This is one of my favorite Poirot films and I think that you are going to love it! I also love the book as well and I have to say that as a whole the film was faithful to the book. Actually Lord Edgware Dies was one of the first Poirot films with David Suchet that I watched and it became one of my favorites immediately. Since then I became a big fan of David Suchet's stunning portrayal of Poirot.
@MusicLoverBrian1 for me too David Suchet is the best Poirot, i have read all ACs books since i was a kid, since then i really wanted to see Poirot in flesh and blood coz i adored him,i watched peter Ustinov and Albert Finney really did not like them i felt there is something wrong they dont resemble Poirot but when i saw Suchet i was super happy felt that he is the Poirot for real and thats what AC talking about in all her Poirots books.Im sure If AC was alive she would have honored Suchet
Hastings mentions his wife's name, "Bella" - see "A wager on murder" to see how they met.
