  • OMG! It's David Warner of Batman: The Animated Series and the original Fallout!

  • "I don't remember your love. I tried to recreate it but it's gone"

Reminds me of me and Bioware.

  • @13x1x20 Best. Comment. Ever.

  • Pauses.

Talking right requires to use pauses within.

    Still good work.

  • @CCFi99 remember that this was in the game :) The pauses between the sentences is where you could press "continue", so you had full control to move at your pace, slower if you wanted to read the subtitles.

  • No, you see if he behaves differently without his toys...

  • @blacksheepwall79 And what do you think he did in his exile? Started researching necromancy from the very start? So did he try to clone Ellesime as a hobby for when he was bored in between experiments? Or the Dryads who were supposed to teach him how to feel again? Ellesime's room he recreated in perfect detail? Just because the protagonist was quick about repairing him/herself doesn't mean Jon was. He had TIME to set up his dungeon. TIME to research souls and TIME to try and love Ellesime again

  • I felt so bad for Irenicus when I played this... by the end I just wanted to kill him to put him out of his misery.

  • Probably one of the single best games I've ever played, PC, console or not.

I'd love to see a 3d remake of this using the same voices, same portraits, etc.

  • David Warner needs to voice every villain in cartoons and games. I seriously couldn't get tired of him ever. Irenicus will always be my favorite game villian

  • queen ellisime:''is there anything that you can do to re-" jonathan: "BOOOM.sucka!!!"

  • " my love for you is dead, nothing more that once reminded me of you dosent exist!"

  • I always thought he kinda looked like The Rock, except magical!

    = p

  • David frekkin' Warner for the epic win.

  • David Warner has an amezing voice, perfect for irenicus

  • imo the most powerful scene in the whole game.

  • I love how he says "don't call me that" - with such a tone of embarrassment and pain

  • I came

  • I just can't unsee the Lobe from Freakazoid when I hear his voice now. But that's not a bad thing.

  • I wish Irenicus become God and takes Bhaal's place.

  • Fantastic..... The is what made cRPG's so great 10 years ago - hardness, depth, intelligence - and this conversation shows all that! I can feel the console gamers yawning...!!!

  • once my thurst for power was everything, and now I hunger only for revenge. AND I WILL HAVE IT

  • God, I'd forgotten how perfect the writing and voice acting in BG were. If only BioWare's other games could have followed suit. =(

  • @HotBlackDiasto BG2 was great, but the following Bioware games have had their fair share of awesome voice acting as well. Mass Effect? Dragon Age?

  • @SpaceMonkey1983 Not really...

  • @ManicSmile We agree to disagree, then.

  • I WANT MY SAMSUNG AND I WILL HAVE IT

  • @dinnermintXtreme I lol'd

  • We shall see, my former love. We shall see.

  • I'm used to polish voiceovers of this game, and Irenicus created by a polish actor is MUCH better than the original, which doesn't happen very often. This guy here gives Irenicus a taste of an old, hearty man. Unless you hear the polish voiceover, you'll never see how evil and cold Jon really was :)

  • @szczepanski666 Eh.. but he's not just evil and cold. Even in this dialogue there are still embers of his former self. No offense to your polish translation, i'm sure it's dandy, but if it fails to capture the complete and contradictory nature of Jon Irenicus, then it's nothing to boast about, and certainly nowhere near as good as this original.

  • Ellesime is an idiot. You cannot control Irenicus. It is the lowest form of bullying, and he has a stronger will than any other elf in Faerun.

I can't blame him for wanting to take revenge. He owes them nothing, the crime was theirs.

  • Ellesime is a bitch, next time I go through the game I will hack her to pieces

  • "and for what?.. Power?!"

I would say power is a pretty good reason to do things.. specially in a world were you can obtain powers like a God. To snap a finger and be able to kill someone. To make yourself almost invincible and so on.. A very good reason in my eyes, if only i could have been his apprentice.. ahh well..

  • @Dimajo Well, in this world some Lawful Good dickhead will come and hack you to pieces with his Carsomyr sooner or later. What goes around comes around. The more power you have the more likely the stronger will come to kick you down from your throne.

  • @Ranziel1 a very true saying. But just thought it would have been a cool option. Not something i would do in real life, just to make that clear, i would obsess with power but not to meme and murder. ; )

And attracting power in Baldurs gate is only fun, the bigger the challenge the better <3

  • @Ranziel1 a very true saying. But just thought it would have been a cool option. Not something i would do in real life, just to make that clear, i would obsess with power but not to meme and murder.

And attracting power in Baldurs gate is only fun, the bigger the challenge the better

  • Ah, the child of Bhaal has awoken! It's time for more... experiments!

  • Ellesime is one pissed queen, have to admit the DEA part is frustrating lols

  • Irenicus is one of my favorite characters, but Ellesime must be one of the stupidest. He was the most powerful of their mages, a man who could flatten armies; he nearly annihilated their entire society; he proved himself reckless beyond belief in his first attempt to assimilate the power of the Tree into himself, and, as punishment for his crime, she only maimed him and exiled him, doing nothing to curtail his power and giving him every reason to return and take vengeance. Elf-queen fail.

  • Incredible writing and voice acting.

  • The "tree" is a metaphor...yes Jon and Ellesime had sex...she's such an arrogant whorelf lololol

  • I hope Bioware includes a character voiced by David Warner in future games, he is just way too awesome.

  • Irenicus's voice reminds me of Kain from the Blood Omen series

  • If you think about it from his point of view, its actually a really sad tale. Shure he tried to take over a major elven encampment, but so does every other conquerer. He just wanted revenge...

"Wait! There is something wrong. We are in an ambush."

"You are perceptive for an old man. You know why I am here. Hand over your ward and no one will be hurt. If you resist it shall be a waste of your life!"

  • Holy shit !

What is happening with the gaming industry nowdays? It is sad that from this perspective it seems that the best games were made ten years ago.

  • Yea, makes me glad to have been born in the 80's, when the gaming generation first emerged, so that I could have grown up and played these great games as they were released. However, there are a few rare exceptions with modern games that actually capture the essence of the old games.

  • @HansiIsMyGod sadly, you are right

  • BG 2's no doubt one of the greatest RPGs ever made. Incredible voice acting, great epic music and plot, funny and intelligent dialogue, interesting characters, the ad&d style fighting and magic system, beautiful graphics, the romances... Every single aspect FTW. Baldur's Gate <3

  • "All that awaits you now, is DEA-"

  • Ugh... yes, I know. First youtube video, and I had no idea it was going to cut a good second off the end of the video. That annoys me tremendously.

  • @Pantsmaster5000

Damn he was the greatest drug lord in the realms....he will be missed!XD

Jokes aside one of the greatest villain ever!

  • Kath Soucie !

Joneleth Irenicus = best villain of all time.

"You warrant no villains exposition from me, I bid you farewell Child of Bhaal, we shall not meet again"

  • I'd want revenge too if a tree touched me long ago.

  • lols

  • "We shall see, my former love.. We shall see.."

  • you are irenicus.. and all that awaits you now.. is death..

one of my favourite lines in the game. she sounds so sad. very touching

  • ..I swear the Baldur's gate series has the BEST voice acting ever. EVER. I swear. EVER once more!

If they made this into an animated movie..I swear..

Cept they'd probably fuck it up like they always do..

I hope if they do someone that's actually played the whole series, or the people who made the game made the movie. I'd pay a thousand to see that.

  • @kecona i would say a non-animated version with real actors (not famous ones like brad pit or anything like that...), make it rated R so violence and blood can be pushed to the max, and it could definitely happen. shadows of amn was a great book, and they could make a movie out of it or throne of bhaal.

  • This is exactly what recent Bioware games have been missing.

  • wow this is so epic.... this is much much better acting than in most if not ALL movies! so much emotion even without seeing their body language. truly wonderfull!

  • Irenicus Rules!!! Best infidel ever!!!

"You will suffer you will all suffer!"

  • Yeah, I think he's my favorite villain ever. He oozes evil, hate, loss and tragedy.

  • one of the best games ever, powerful voices, incredible characters , everything is at the best.

  • never noticed how powerful the voice acting was in this game!

  • one of all time favorite bad guys

  • Actually, in terms of "revenge" I think Irenicus has a damn good point. On the one hand, he was expected to seek redemption. On the other hand, he was only given the opportunity to do so AFTER being punished by having a spell cast on him (the removal of his SOUL) which made seeking that redemption absolutely impossible. What Elliseme is asking of him is roughly the equivalent of being chastised for failing to climb a ladder- by the person who cut off your arms and legs.

  • An excellent way to summarize Irenicus' situation. Without a soul he is unable to feel any positive emotions. Add to that his failing memory. What did the elves expect to happen?

  • @Ingenna well the idea was that what he nearly did to ALL elves was done unto him and then he was thrown out to think about what he had done, with said pain burning inside him as a reminder. But what does he do? He tries to recreate what he lost instead of earning it back. He builds something new, the same thing, when the very point was to earn back what was taken from him. He missed the point to start with and well we all saw what the "recreation" consisted of, enslaved nymphs and all.

  • @Bartron100 Life is a path we all walk, you can not live in the spirit with the ego, one can not serve two masters, trying to do so will result in you being cast out of grace. I was cast out and I only have two choices, to forgive the punishers and become truly free in the end, or become a true fiend, where nothing matters but revenge. In the end he choose his faith himself. As did I.

  • @Bartron100 Yes but he did not even SEEK redemption. He only kept shaking his metaphorical fist at those who punished him. Had he recognized his error, perhaps he would have been given back his soul. If a child repeatedly breaks his toys, you take away his toys until he learns to not break them. If a child never learns it, then he never gets them back.

  • @blacksheepwall79 You determine if the child learned by eventually giving back the toys and observing to see if he behaves differently. Did they ever give Irenicus his soul back for a second chance? No.

  • @Bartron100 I'd say his entitlement of revenge even supersedes that. Not only did they do that. They stripped him of his entire personality, essentially. By taking away his memories permanently, they took who he was, what he was. They robbed him of his very own identity. Talk about your privacy intrusion. Now that's something one might say is even worthy of avenging. Not being himself anymore, he's not even avenging himself, he's avenging another guy ( a distant memory to him) who was slighted.

  • @Foxstab powerful game!

  • the best game ever !

  • The memory of the memory!

  • Stil playing it. But never bored humiliating Irenicus.

  • great dialogue...

  • legendary !

  • best game ever

  • Can't help but feeling a bit sorry for Irenicus, even though he doesn't really deserve it.

  • geez.... i think I've watched this about 50 times now over the past couple months! No game will ever rival this one.

  • Indeed it is so. One of the best games ever. Even that there are mistakes it's no matter. Baldurs Gate is the masterpiece forever.

  • She deserved whatever he would have done to her.

  • This is the voice of Ras Al Ghul from the 90's Batman cartoon, The Lobe from Freakazoid, Alpha from the MIB cartoon, and Nergal from Billy and Mandy.

  • Yep... and tons of others, including 3 characters in Tron.

  • Plus, The Archmage in Gargoyles, pure badass.

  • Wow... I never put that together but now... Damn... Everything.... Brings back memories of the Gargoyles series as well now.... Thx for pointing that out! xD

  • And don't forget Morpheus from Fallout 1 ;)

  • I... I do NOT remember your love Ellesime!

  • AND I, WILL, HAVE IT!!!

  • Ok, ok... have your ice cream sundae, jeeze...

  • =3 Huzzah

  • Forgot the exact words for a while. Awesome dialog....

  • Actually I started playing BG2 again....but as I watch and listen to this movie I realize that I do not want to guide a party to destroy Irenicus. His hatred, his anger and lust for revenge is well justified...simply I cannot face him again, because if I did, I fear that I would have to sacrifice my party, so that Irenicus can have his rightful revenge.......

  • he tried to commit genocide for his own gains. how is revenge justified

  • BG were the best RPG's I've ever played (I speak purely imo). Morrowind came close, and Oblivion failed to reach that standard... great games. Loved the rpg genre. And then I played NWNights 2... "The horror, the horror" - Marlon brando apocalypse now (I think.) They just started making these ridiculous rpg's for kids with ADD syndrom. When I first heard the NWN 2 story, I nearly puked... Gods, how the mighty have fallen. Bring back the BG!

  • Sorry, probably not my place, since I'm not much of an RPG fan at all... But Bioware seems like the smart end of the stick. They're still making enjoyable games for everyone, even if they lost some of the talent behind the storyline/dialogue.

  • stupid bitch elf. i wanted to kill her after i learned she created him.

  • Nothing better than a character that one loves, yet one hates.

This game captures his character in every essence perfectly. I love, yet hate him.

  • Black Isle Studios.....creator of greatest rpgs and dreams, Fallout 3 fans will never understand it, NEVER!

  • Go to hell! I like both studios.

  • Just becasue you like both of them I should go to hell ? Go be a good consumer and enjoy brainless dialogues, fucked up voice acting and shitty quests....If you cannot see the difference in quality between this and that, you are an idiot!

  • Ths "fanboy" terminology is so pathetic. If I find that Black Isle did Fallout better than Bethesda I'm a fanboy? Don't be ridiculous. If two companies differ in quality and style I have the right to say that one sucks without being a "fanboy". The problem today is that only a few people have their own opinion most of them buys the PR shit....

  • No. I agree that Black Isle did better at Fallout, at least a little. I disagree that "Fallout 3 fans will never understand it, NEVER!" I understand. I just happen to think Fallout 3 is still a great game.

  • Bioware get full developer credits for this game Im afraid, they were the creators. While I have greatly enjoyed ganes from Black Isle and Interplay, they both only get publisher credits on this masterpiece.

  • Now that's where we should stop for a minute. Bioware developed the engine, all the credit for that goes to them. As for voice acting and story telling, Black Isle's touch is everywhere. Furthermore...Irenicus voiced by Tony Jay, voice actor for Fallout 1 (Bioware was nowhere in sight) Also note that one of the magelings has the same voice as the skull in Planescape (entirely Black Isle game). Black Isle as a "publisher" supervised the whole project and ensured that it is a great rpg.

  • No, Bioware created the Infinity Engine and developed both Baldurs Gate games and their expantions. I wont deny the possibility the some Black Isle employees helped out, but nevertheless, the is entirely a Bioware developed game. Look on the back of the case and you will see this. Heck look on the internet and you will find it. It should also be pointed out the Irenicus is voiced by David Warner, and Rob Paulsen voiced Morte, not anyone in this scene. He voiced Anomen and Kivan in the BG games.

  • David Warner : "He has also contributed voice acting to a number of computer games, most notably playing the villain Jon Irenicus in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and Morpheus in Fallout." /Wiki/ That means he was with Black Isle when Fallout was created. Also Rob Paulsen worked for Black Isle in 1998 (Planescape) That means these two guys WERE employed by Black Isle Studios and NOT Bioware. Also, the story and the dialogues are typically the work of Black Isle.

  • Voice actors are HIRED for work, not EMPLOYED by games companies. Check their history and you will see a number of different voice acting jobs. Bioware using them has nothing to do with Black Isle and everything to do with their talent. Plus Rob Paulsen work on Baldurs Gate before Planescape, so by your logic, hes a Bioware employee (not).

Check the general consensus among people who know their games and they will tell you Bioware also know how to craft great stories, and dialogue.

  • As far as voice acting is concerned, you are right, my argument is faulty. But there is still the question of the style of games. I mean before the collapse of BIS there were games like: BG1-2 and their expansions. These strongly resemble to Fallout and Planescape (BIS works). After BIS however, games like NWN, KOTOR 1, MASS EFFECT emerged. These games have nothing to do with the style or feel of BG. I see your point, and I agree but I still think that there was something more than "influence"

  • Also, please take a look at Neverwinter Nights 1. It was entirely developed by Bioware, since Black Isle had already went bankrupt then. It is a great game however it does not feature: gripping story, clever dialogues, great voice acting. These are the things wich BG2 had, and all because of Black Isle!

  • No it wasnt, its a shame you appreciate Baldurs Gate II, yet insult it by completley ignoring the fact that its a great game that Bioware made. Ever heard of Icewind Dale? Developed by Black Isle, it was a game with many fantastic features. Unfortunatly a long epic story and intricate roleplaying were not among them. It was an average rpg because it focused on dungeon crawling and combat too much. There you have an example of where Black Isle failed. Give Bioware the credit theyre due.

  • To prove the point in my other comment, take a look at the dialogues of Fallout 1-2 and Planescape and compare them with Baldur's Gate! After that take a look at Neverwinter or Kotor and you will see the difference. I'm not "discrediting" Bioware for those great games, it is just a bit suspicious that after the fall of Interplay, Bioware took up a completely different style both story and dialuge wise.....

  • This is 100% complete and total nonsense. You quite clearly are as that other person said, a Black Isle fanboy. If you want to try and parade around about how brilliant Black Isle are, go and do it on a video for a game they developed, like Fallout 2 or Planescape, not here. Bioware developed this game and FULL credit for its brilliance. PERIOD. End of discussion, I will answer no more replies on this subject.

  • You *are* a Black Isle fanboy. Not insomuch as you simply like them, but Ive seen you numerous times tout them in different videos as some sort of RPG messiah. I wouldnt mind that, but unfortunatly you were taking credit from Bioware and passing it over to Black Isle. By the way, Black Isle was owned by Interplay, who in turn owned the D&D liscence. You really do give Black Isle more credit than their due.

As for Icewind Dale, the music and art were top notch, but it had barely any story.

  • I wanted to elaborate on some parts you have written but I reckon it would be to no avail. My answer is simply this: I'm a Black Isle fanboy and in a time when rpgs are dying out and getting dumber and dumber for REAL mainstream idiotic fanboys I'm happy I can still cling to my "old" "outdated" "not cool" not "zomfg" rpgs. It was a good discussion thank you for that.

  • the longest arguement in youtube history without the use of the word fag or nigger.

    now ive seen everything

  • Icewind Dale is hack n' slash, didn't you know? Barely has any story. Not exactly an RPG in my eyes.

  • I know what Icewind Dale is. Yes it is focused more on battle, but it has top notch audio, story and atmosphere. Just because it dosesn't have that much dialogue, it doesn't mean it hasn't a great story...

  • Ok, I checked it again on Wiki and it DOES have a better story than I remember, you're right. However, you only gain from it once every two hours. You talk to this guy for.. 3 minutes. Then you go fight monsters for two hours barely no dialogue or story during this time period. Then you come back to this guy to get some hints, some dialogue and then it's back to the monsters. The story could have surrounded the gameplay alot MORE, like the Baldur's Gate games. It's 10% RP, 90% hack n' slash.

  • IWD have vere nice story dude

  • Hmm, I never found IWD to be more balanced.. Both games have the same fighting system, so please tell me why you think that. BG is like 10/10, IWD is more like 6/10. I didn't like coming back to the same town again and again to talk to the same dude over and over and get new directions to a new dungeon with stronger enemies. No, IWD clearly didn't need the same effort from the developers with that kind of game play.

  • When I mean balanced, I mean the encounters were more balanced. You faced enemies roughly as strong as your party members were when you faced them. In BG, and particularly BG 2, you were always outclassed; the enemies always had better weapons, MUCH, MUCH better magic, and their characters, especially Mages, always managed to make the Will save to resist your spells. BG had a superior storyline, true, but I don't care how good the story is if the game is more frustrating than it is fun.

  • @GameSheriff - I have to respectfully disagree that BG is tougher than IWD. In BG1/2, you can do quests/obtain NPCs in any order you like. Sure, if you dive into the Heir'delis(bad spelling) "Prison" side quest straight out of the Irenicus Dungeon, you will probably get your ass handed to you.

But if you, say, do the Skinner Murders, Slavers, and Nalia's Keep chains first, you will find a more friendly experience. (good aligned)

Class usage/balance plays its part, but im out of space to type :)

  • Yeah, but that whole "being able to choose the quests in which order you wanted" thing that screwed you up. Apart from BG being overall tougher than Icewind Dale; the fact that the quests were non-linear really made it hard for you to know where to go and what to do. If the game at least gave you SOME IDEA of which quests were suited for your level, but no, it didnt. And the level of difficulty really bogged down the BG experience for me, I can appreciate a diffcult game, but give me a break...

  • @GameSherrif - Before Baldur's Gate, I played the Final Fantasy series. A series where, at the time, you were lead-by-the-nose 95% of the time, aside from locating powerful weapons end-game and such.

Fast-forward to BG, and I was thrilled that, for the first time, -I- was in total control of my destiny. I could quest in any order, and as any class/class-kit I choose. It was magical.

If your really looking for non-linear gone amuck, play Sword of Vermillion on Genesis.

    Good, but hard.

  • But in Megaman, there were no lvl up systems, so all the stages were equally tough. Even if you're a huge fan of BG, you have to admit, some of the encounters are just ridiculously tough for no reason. And I'm not just talking about major foes like Aran Lindvall or Irenicus, I can see why the king of the S. Thieves and the high mage of the Elves were such tough opponents (though I think Irenicus was a little too overpowered, even if he was the final boss)

  • @GameSheriff - There are two areas in BG/ToB that stand out as "really tough", depending on your team.

    -Watchers Keep

    -3rd Bhaalspawn Trial

(the one with the improved Ravager)

God, that monster truly was a beast! A fun fight, but challenging.

To kill Irenicus, summon Aerial Servants/Fire Elementals-send them first. Use up all summons/AoE first, then go melee.Buff Minsc/Keldorn, send em in. Have Aerie/Jaheira heal, while you assist based on your class. Should be an easy fight. :)

  • @GameSherrif - One other thing to consider, is that finding what parts of a game are hard, and which are easy, is part of the fun of it. Similar to the "choose a stage" style of Megaman 2 on the NES, you try each area until you find one suited to what gear, party members, and spells you currently possess.

Many gamers prefer a linear game progression, circa Final Fantasy, but I grew out of it over time. I want my in-game path to be my choice, win or lose.

    (out of space) :)

  • Do you know that Quest where you have to stop the cult of the Unseeing Eye? Well, I never even made it to the cult, because I couldn't get past the thugs camped out in the sewer. I mean come on! Was there a reason why the mage of a group of street thugs could kill my main fighter with ONE spell??!!! And I often found myself asking: "what's the point?" If I'm always going to be outclassed and mages can kill me with one spell, why am I even bothering leveling up?

  • @GameSherrif - High Level casters in BG, incl player-made Sorcs, can be OP at a glance.

For the Unseeing Eye Chain, you dont go to the north end of the sewers, you skip the thugs and go east until you meet Keldorn. Speak with him to unlock the lower dungeon. (wont spoil the rest)

To kill the sewer thugs: Send in Summons first, then back off. Cast AoE over and over until dead, making sure to back WAY off to reduce their chance at attacking you. Works 95% of the time. Collect spoils after combat.

  • @GameSherrif - I'm gonna have to Roleplay to explain the Sewer Thug encounter:

This group of thugs terrorizes an entire district of pampered mages, priests, and faithful denizens, plundering at will. They retreat into the sewers where the city watch wont go, unless it's in a large force, which logistically speaking, wont happen without weakening the overall deployment of watchman through Athkatla.

With this gear in hand, they are more than a match for you, just freed from Irenicus clutches.

  • @GameSherrif - Lastly, I'm very sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the BG series as much as most others. Tastes differ between gamers, which is fine, but the gamer in me cries out to see you unable to enjoy the full scope and beauty of the series, due to questing woes.

If you are still into BG, I recommend checking GameFAQS --dot-- com. There's bound to be a guide to get you back to enjoying the game.

I wish you many hours of NPC dialog, deep quest chains, and legendary loot. :)

  • And don't even get me started on BG1! Do I even need to explain how unbalanced that thing was?! After 3 years, (I only got BG1 3 years ago), I still haven't figured out a bullet-proof strategy to get past Tarnesh, the first boss of the game, WHICH CAN KILL YOUR MAIN WITH ONE FRIGGIN MAGIC MISSILE.

  • @GameSherrif - BG1 shows it's age in a number of ways. The first of which being a VERY hard time for casters, for the first few levels. It -is- true to the P&P game in that area, but for a CRPG, it does get frustrating.

Tarnesh? One of the thugs inside Candlekeep? The name seems familiar but it's been a year or two since I played through BG1. If you died inside Candlekeep, ehh, can't comment without it sounding like an insult, which is not my intent at all. Try a Paladin or Fighter imho. :)

  • @Myself - Silly me, I forgot Tarnesh was in front of the Friendly Arm Inn.

Curse my memory, and the damage the passing of years does! lol

  • He was pretty tough, but the guards will help too. As a warrior I've killed him without being hurt, but his magic missile can kill you outright if you have low hit points. I saved immediately beforehand and just tried as many times as I had to. I can be done though. I also always took out the guys in the sewer. You can always come back to it, but Jaheira's insect plague keeps the caster from casting. Cloudkill also works to damage/kill them without too much trouble.

  • yup guards help + preperation its really not hard i beat him as a caster many many times,

you dont have to wait til he attacks you to kill him

  • @GameSherrif - I do want to say that I played IWD1/2 and enjoyed both, just for different reasons.

IWD1 had great music, and the ending, though not as "fleshed out" as BG, still found me having alot of fun fighting against a powerful demon of the hells. Good times!

IWD2 backtracked into stagnation with lackluster final bosses, and music that didn't hit-home with me, like in IWD1.

That maze-forest tested my patience beyond it's limits for days. Not a puzzle lover.

    (out of typing space) :(

  • @GameSherrif - All that said, I respect that you enjoyed IWD more. In the end both series had their weaknesses and strengths, and IWD was ALWAYS fighting against the BGs for "It's Place" in the hearts D&D lovers - this is undeniable.

I enjoyed BG for single player, but IWD for LAN play. IWD just seemed to flow better with friends, than BG. When playing BG, you WANT to hear NPC banter..read lines..hear dialog. In IWD you want to fight, and MP is all about that.

    Both were fantastic series, imho.

  • Best antagonist of all time ? Of course..

  • David Warner is brilliant as Irenicus.

  • Greatest RPG ever... and some of the strongest voice work ever in a video game.

  • Irenicus. I...almost feel sorry for him. Which I guess is saying a lot, considering all the crap he did to me in the game. I guess that's my Lawful Good Inquisitor Paladin for you...

  • Yeah, I can't help feeling a little bit sorry for him too. He's pretty much baby eating evil the whole game, and then this. Like you said, you ALMOST feel sorry for him.

  • In the end though, he still brought it on himself. Without giving out any spoilers (for people who STILL haven't played it), it was his own ambition that doomed him to his punishment, and his lust for revenge that was the final nail in his coffin.

  • A sad reminder of what gaming used to be and what it is now. Great works are now history...

  • AND I.. WILL.. HAVE IT!!!

  • I love this game!

  • I didn't beat the game but I'm looking for his scenes here. He's by far the most awesome villain ever man. The way he is unstoppable is killer. And he has issues that you also feel for, like how he got screwed over things in this dialogue. Damn man, great game.

  • Best game voice acting ever.

  • So fucking true. <3

  • Agree fully

  • This is awesome! I've been waiting for someone to do this forever! Thanks, man!
