I am having the same problem as thedoctor. I start to get smoke but then as my muscles get tired I start to lose precision and I knock the forming dust pile with the plow. Any suggestions?
Hey. I am having some difficulty trying to prevent the plow from disturbing the coal dust heap at the end of the groove. Do you know any techniques which might be able to assist with preserving the coal dust?
@Thedoctor19000 I find it helpful to assume a kneeling position, keep your arms straight and use the sum of your upper body rather than using only your arms. I also prefer to grip the plow closer to the board for better control. I hope this helps, it can be a real challenge!
you did really good my friend thanks for sharing

That's interesting that you were able to use fir wood for this method because usually people say those woods are no good for the bow or hand drill

Yes, I used balsam fir for the base and plow and for tinder I used inner poplar bark.
