  • "Dya remember Fafner?!"

  • I don't know where she got that "coming out of Wotan's head" bit. Act 3, Scene 1 of Siegfried features Erda talking about giving birth to Brunnhilde.

  • It's actually *nine* daughters. Brunnhilde + the 8 other ones.

  • Brilliant!!!

  • ............ she then procedes to bear him Eight Daughters! *Audience ROARS* I adore this woman!!!

  • everything i ever needed to know about the Ring Cycle, i learned from Anna Russell :D

i'm not making this up, you know! ;)

  • Her impression of the Valkyries was dead on

  • "...and THAT'S the great beauty of grand opera. You can do ANYTHING...so long as you sing it."

  • ....warned him to be careful....she then borns him eight daughters...SHE should've been careful! LOL!!!!

  • Hoyotoho! Hoyotoho! Hiaha, hiaha, hiahaa XD That was hilarious!

  • If Ronnie Barker and Mollie Sugden had ever had a daughter.....

  • beeeeeee careful!! LOL

  • Hilarious! Moving on to part 3..... :)

  • ..."it says they're all virgins...i'm not the LEAST bit surprised..." hahaa

  • "Thats the great thing about opera. You can do anything!!! .... as long as you sing it." lol amazing and so true.

  • What ring cycle should I get?

  • @Huddiethegreat Are you getting a DVD or CD recording?

  • @Huddiethegreat are you looking to get a DVD or CD of the Ring?

  • @Loismustdie26

CD. I went ahead and bought the James Levine set, but what do you recommend?

  • @Huddiethegreat Well Levine is hard to ever go wrong with. I always find that musicians from the country where it was written gives it an extra kick. There's a truly excellent recording with Sawallisch as the conductor put out in 1998, though the Bohm recording (from 1966?) seems to still reign supreme in many eyes. There's also Solti with a lot of fire and drama (it is the Ring after all), and a Karajan with a fluid beauty at heart.

  • @Huddiethegreat The ring is so large a work that anyone who is going to put it on is going to do it well so it's hard to get a bad recording. But as it's so large, and Wagner so intricate, it's hard to find two that are similar so you'll never get bored. Each new recording is like a brand new opera (or 4 brand new operas).

I'll recommend getting a DVD as well if you're becoming more interested. The music is great, but when you see the staged productions with subtitles it really comes to life

  • "so SHE should have been careful!" (-:

  • ...then he nags her into a coma...

    fantastic!!!

  • he naaaaaaags her into a cehomar

  • brilliant !!!! Always makes me laugh

  • AWESOME! THANKS FOR POSTING
