  • this is the shit! have the 45, w/ armorlite rifle on B-side

  • Killer bass tone!

  • Comment removed

  • I saw them live in Cleveland, Ohio in the early eighties...fantastic and still a favorite.

  • love it love it love it...gimme your anthrax anyday

  • argh, I love this so much, why does it have to stop just when they are about to destroy us w/ "At Home He's a Tourist"? (T-T)

  • I was at this gig. Fantastic show, much better than the last time I saw the group which was a bizarre show at Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park (of all places???) in Calif back in '82. Thanks for posting.

  • The only re-formed eighties band I'd actually like to see live.

  • @JohnMoseley What about fucking Wire? (Okay, they are a 70's and 80's band).

  • @postyesterdayman Fair point, especially since they've actually got it together to record new stuff. Based on clips, Go4 a lot more exciting live now, though.

  • @postyesterdayman and they have still been going since the 80's, they have a new cd out this week

also check out object 47 another recent wire cd.

and Go4 have a new cd also , "Content"

  • should be on the curriculum

  • That guy in the audience doing the air drums and air bass is awesome.

  • the best new wave band in my opinion, of course Devo is a close second

  • while categorizing music is mostly a banal exercise, I'd have to stand up on this one and clearly say that Gang of Four were not New Wave -- they were obviously a post-punk band with politics at the heart of their effort. If you didn't know it -- they were serious Marxists.

  • whatever man, its all just rocknroll. and yes is was aware of their marxist tendencies.

  • brilliant! old school--fuck this fucking music today!

  • Saw them at the US Festival in 1982. Great show - blew everything else out of the water.

  • Great Band - Awsome Song - just listened to it on my ipod! Love the intro!!

  • What a great track. I loved it when it came out and still do. Love'll get you like a case of Anthrax! Ha ha ha

  • I was at the same gig-1983 with the Smiths supporting....found a tape later of the gig and played it to death.

  • Ferocious live band...seen them many times

  • Gang of Four are my fav band of all time - saw them live only once, in London in 1983 supported by the Smiths. They never toured Australia as far as I know.

  • wow that must have been amazing!

  • They were way ahead of their time. Yet another example of a hugely talented band who never achieved the recognition they truly deserved. Saw them at a gig inLoughborough around 1980 and they were awesome.

  • so AWESOME!

  • saw em live at Essex university back in 80/81, one of the best gigs I ever went to....Many thanks for this. As for the balding problem, I just shave it all off....

  • is this some sort of ricky oh reference?

  • Gof4 are guvnors.electric ballroom with the sublime Mekons 30 years back. Then few years ago at shep bush empire where Andy Gill was using some kind of fender tweed valve amp..and his sound lacked attack..in old days i swear he had an HH tranny amp and his sound was proper fucking brutal.call me a cunt but too much distortion/tube compression can make your effort lack conviction?coz Andy is a producer and everything i rekon the sound engineer was tooo pussy to have a row! maybe i is a CUNT!!!

  • broadly122 I have been looking up all the stuff I used to love back in the day, Magazine, Joy Division, Leisure Process and now this! Saw Gang of Four live once at UCL, to use Comic Book Guy voice, Best. Gig. Ever. I'm female and don't have the baldness problem, but ageing, yes. But this really took me back. 23 Skidoo next! Isn't YouTube the best?

  • Sometimes when youre an ageing.balding x punk type a tune pops in your head and u think -fuck me! i must go and look it up on u tube.-BRILLIANT-THANKS FOR POSTING.

  • i still feel like a beetle on its back !!!!!

  • nihlist lulibi

  • "entertainment"--still one of the best albums EVER. saw them perform at 688; up there with x circa "wild gift" and talking heads circa "remain in light" as one of the most brilliant shows of that era (and what an era it was).

  • the bass line makes me cum...

  • fkkkkk yaaaaaa

  • you are a true wordsmith

  • Gang Of Four were way ahead of their time. Its such a pity they never got the recognition they deserved.

  • me myeeee love FEEDBACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • it doesn't seem like they had fun...

  • and the listeners either! but this song is still soo great!

  • wilko jonhson or what.

  • there arnt enough gang of four videos on youtube damn it they are sounderated

  • This was the most extreme, noisey, avant garde song most people ever were exposed to in th 70's. Put this on then put another tune from 1979 like 'Escape' by Rupert Holmes and you get some idea of how out there this tune was.

  • The drummer, Hugo Burnham, is my college professor.

    Crazy huh?

  • What does he teach?

  • Freshman Seminar. He's a full time teacher @ The New England Institute of Art.

  • I guess there's hope for starving musicians, afterall.

  • And yeah, I spelled wrong. That still doesn't change the fact that those lame ass booze-hounds fucked up my Gang of Four YouTube experience. :P

  • Who are those meatheads in the front row? You can just tell the lead singer wants to kick them all is the teeth so fucking bad he can taste it. Fuckin' Austin, shorthorn-football lovin', "I like Gang of Four, so that means i'm still cool and I can act like a complete dip shit alcoholic jock asswipe during Gang od 4's entire set", ass clowns. Peace!

  • i was going to defend austin by mentioning that during sxsw there are more non-austinites than natives. however, when i saw them play a normal show in 2005, the audience was pretty shitty then too.

  • @pleasureavalanche I take that as a compliment since I was one of them. The rest

of the crowd were invited industry people. WE were the only real fans there.

  • what an inredible band/my favourite guitarist along with steve albini/prolapse do a good version of this/thanks for posting this/

  • amazing band

  • fucking awesome

  • Dammit I must be getting old!! That sounded like a lot of noise for the first minute!!:)

  • thanks for posting this anthrax and damaged goods are sheer genius

  • fucking genius. my favourite ever intro sequence. thanks

  • Brilliant bassist

  • THIS SHIT ROCKS!

  • my favourite gang of four song - thanks for putting this up - its excellent

  • I love this song

    thanks for posting this

  • Lovethat BASSLINE!!Jesuzz!

  • this makes me feel like a beetle on his back

  • I can't believe they are touring, hope they come down under to OZ!!

  • This is Fuckin' AWESOME! I love these guys.

  • Thanks very much for this video!! I was at that show in the front of the stage and to be able to see myself with one of my all-time favorite bands is beyond excellent!!

  • Yeah -- a force of the darkest and most corrosive sort of irony that exists in popular music today, and that's something I don't want to catch. I was hoping Andy would be using THE BANANA here. (Cf. other photos from SXSW.) LOL.
