hmm nobody complainting about the only black guy getting shot in the head .smashed in the trash and thrown of a skyscraper ...hmm i guess thats just what a good partner is for... haha super granny must've watched this one tooooo
I totally agree with 027220. This cartoon is so awful that I can't believe Granny would mistake those two cops for trick-or-treaters. This is why I never watch this cartoon anymore.
@Addiskrilla Neither the granny nor crook have anything resembling an Irish-American dialect. The crook is Blanc's standard petty thug voice. Joan Gerber's using a cliched old woman's voice. Irish cops were stereotypes in cartoons for years.
I've never seen this one. I like the idea of Daffy and Porky as police partners. My favorite Porky/Daffy is "Robin Hood Daffy" after that,"Daffy Doodles". But I like this quite a bit.
@Colierrannd2 --It wasn't the first time. In "Rocket Squad" (Jones, 1956) Porky and Daffy spoofed Dets. Friday and Gannon from DRAGNET. In the couple of other pictures Porky played a cop he was usu. arresting Daffy, who was on the other side of the fence called law. Dum-de-dum-dum....
@dolphinluv2413 It's not you. A lot of it was rotoscoped/re-used from earlier Disney films/features though, especially in the Wolfgang Reitherman-directed ones.
@littleNorwegians Sort of like in "22 Short Films About Springfield" on The Simpsons when Lisa gets her hair cut. She kisses the barber instead of appearing to pay.
The animation style was just the dominant animation style at the time. The style was influenced a lot by Modern Art and budget constraints. (less animators.)
I'm actually a huge fan of Irv Spector's work. He certainly wrote a lot of the best/better Famous Studios' output, especially the studio's later-era one-shot cartoons ("Chew Chew Baby", "The Plot Sickens", "The Inquisit Visit", etc.).
This obviously isn't a great cartoon but it's probably the best Spector could have worked with at the time. Also, I actually LIKE Bill Lava's opening title music from 0:16 to 0:37; very jaunty and moody, almost like it belongs on a 1960's cops TV series.
Yes, I'm sure that's true, it's just that it's a shame. They really set a high standard, which this certainly isn't up to. . kinda like the Stones doing 'Wild Horses'. . and then eventually releasing crap like 'She's So Cold'.
Just saw this on the channell..JGB. Joan was at that time "Roger Ramjet'"s females, and later voiced Irma on "Wait till your father gets home. Actually a good use of Daffy, with Porky, in light of what woulda happen soon with Speedy..

My favorite part:
3:23-3:30
Daffy: Oh no you don't! You're trying to get all the credit, I'll take it.
Robber: You got it!
BOOOM!

Scary intro.
jazzbutterworth 10 months ago
is this in Boston, cause I notice that daffy's last name is " O'Duck" and granny's,
the robber and the trick-a-treaters all have Irish-american accents. and the
Seargent O'flarity YES escially him, orange hair and the irish accent.

@dolphinluv2413 101 Dalmatians was actually made by UPA but I will. ;-)

@MatthewtheY No, Disney made '101 Dalmations', not UPA.

@MatthewtheY The Reitherman-directed Disney cartoons/features were the best Disney created. By far better than today...in my opinion.

Animation sure is different than the 1940s-early50's Looney Tunes! Did Chuck Jones leave or something?
SomeFluffer64 1 year ago
@SomeFluffer64 Not sure if he left but the animation does look different.
honeegrrl 1 year ago
@SomeFluffer64 Yes. He went to MGM to correct those Tom and Jerry cartoons. He left Warner Bros. in 1963 after he made TRANSYLVANIA 6-500.

The animation certainly isn't as sophisticated as the earlier WB cartoons but it's still entertaining.

I think so. She also appeared earlier the same year(1965) in "It's Nice to Have a Mouse Around the House",which was the first Daffy/Speedy cartoon.
