the only part of this that really makes you a fighter is the conditioning, felxibility,balance,agility and the bone conditioning. since impacts make your bones denser as long as you keep doing it your whole life.
However, as for the acutal fighting and striking, Muay thai, Kiyokushin and kick boxing (k1) would rape them.. probably even a boxer not to mention their not so great nurition.
Actually these people fight with weapons, so everyone in K1 would actually just be dead if they tried to fight a Shaolin Monk, also you have no idea how good a shaolin monk fights. They have actually taken part in historical battles. They first started learning martial arts because their temples got attacked often. If it didn't work, I'm sure they would have noticed when they all died... I know a guy who sparred Sanda with a monk, "Fastest guy I've ever fought, really good at reading"

Basically they are unbreakable and due to the fact they feel no pain they can rush any attack without fear of being hurt and end fights within a few punches on top of that they are super strong, fast and masters of their art. as well as having the best cardio in the world and knowing how to use a multitude of weapons i would have to crown them most deadly melee fighters of all time

I'm not quite sure its traditional. The style should've started around the 1950s or so. But then again, it could be considered as some-what traditional because it incorporates many different kung fu styles. I think it would be more accurate to say it's chinese stand up MMA. As for it's name, the cantonese name it is called both San Da and San Shou, a word for word translation would be free/scattered fight and hand. Cung Le is a very famous san shou fighter and is in the MMA scene.
no, sanda is not a traditional art, sanda is a modern art developed in the 70s through to the 80s, it is based upon the basics of shaolin bare hand kungfu and develope in the same formula as how most modern sport martial art were develope. The real traditional arts of shaolin kungfu can only be studied in the temple as a monk.
they can strengthen any part of their body throat neck head etc.. and if they're getting choked they can fight while it's happening. also if they can break stones with their heads they can definitely take a fist. and their speed is alot faster than most if not all ufc fighters.

Don't compare UFC and shaolin monks =P It makes no sense, Shaolin Kung fu is not proven the best, no monk claims to be the best. Shaolin Kung fu is a life style. Shaolin Monk VS Brock Lesnar... Brock would be stabbed to death by a spear... So why even compare, the two are different and for different reasons. UFC is not martial arts, it's just violent people fighting with martial art techniques. Martial arts is much more than how to hurt someone. Shaolin is MARTIAL ARTS, UFC is fighting.

i think a lot on the time form and technique is lost in a real fight because of the adrenalin flow and nerviousness etc that comes wit the teritory of a real fight. meanin u act more then think. now wat i suggest is training in a more real atmosphere so as to become use to it so that wen u act you wil do what uve trained and set out to do . this will help a lot to those of u who have been fortunate and unfortunate enough to not have had been inmany or any fights

The UFC guy would use his brain and go for submission. If it wasnt a staged fight the Monk would maybe be able to get out of the submission and knock him out.
But if staged the monk would lose due to submissions (if he didnt knock the UFC guy out at the start.)
Anyone who've been in street fights know they are very rarely one on one, there's no way anyone could use BJJ as effectively as in MMA comps. Shaolin Kung Fu would be much more useful in those situations, which also happen to the be the situations you need it most.

That only applies if you are a moderate fighter not an ancient warfare fighter. These monks are prepared. "Jiujutsu and Muay thai" These monks have special training in order to counter simple moves such as choking. One of their training enables them to resist neck-breaking&hanging.
BJJ and Muay Thai are not the end all (wile they are esentual). Muay thai is to slow (compare to Savat or American Kickboxing) and BJJ dose not practus strike (original BJJ) that is. .. One must train in more then two styles to say they are a compadent fighter. . .otherwise they are just a "MMA" fighter who has rules to go by. .
Shaolin is made to fight in real ancient times of warfare - not like the modern fighters whose goal is money, competition, hobby or as a fancy. These require training for all their childhood, adulthood, lifetime.

its definitely one of the most disciplined. i'd like to see a good shaolin trained person step in mma cause so far all the traditional kungfu guys havent made it very far in that type of fighting.

i love ufc and i love monks
but i'd have to say that the shaolin monks work harder then the ufc fighters

they can strengthen any part of their body throat neck head etc.. and if they're getting choked they can fight while it's happening. also if they can break stones with their heads they can definitely take a fist. and their speed is alot faster than most if not all ufc fighters.

Don't compare UFC and shaolin monks =P It makes no sense, Shaolin Kung fu is not proven the best, no monk claims to be the best. Shaolin Kung fu is a life style. Shaolin Monk VS Brock Lesnar... Brock would be stabbed to death by a spear... So why even compare, the two are different and for different reasons. UFC is not martial arts, it's just violent people fighting with martial art techniques. Martial arts is much more than how to hurt someone. Shaolin is MARTIAL ARTS, UFC is fighting.

people need to stop comparing these humble monks to shitty streetfighters, brawlers or UFC dudes. They practice some heavy self defense. had some UFC moron attacked a monk, and that monk through his experience deemed his attacker dangerous enough (red level), he would have killed him. these monks are on a whole diferent level than most humans ever reach. they can withstand attacks to the throat and groin, why would they lose their calm in a fight? come on.

i think a lot on the time form and technique is lost in a real fight because of the adrenalin flow and nerviousness etc that comes wit the teritory of a real fight. meanin u act more then think. now wat i suggest is training in a more real atmosphere so as to become use to it so that wen u act you wil do what uve trained and set out to do . this will help a lot to those of u who have been fortunate and unfortunate enough to not have had been inmany or any fights

The UFC guy would use his brain and go for submission. If it wasnt a staged fight the Monk would maybe be able to get out of the submission and knock him out.
But if staged the monk would lose due to submissions (if he didnt knock the UFC guy out at the start.)

Anyone who've been in street fights know they are very rarely one on one, there's no way anyone could use BJJ as effectively as in MMA comps. Shaolin Kung Fu would be much more useful in those situations, which also happen to the be the situations you need it most.

That only applies if you are a moderate fighter not an ancient warfare fighter. These monks are prepared. "Jiujutsu and Muay thai" These monks have special training in order to counter simple moves such as choking. One of their training enables them to resist neck-breaking&hanging.

BJJ and Muay Thai are not the end all (wile they are esentual). Muay thai is to slow (compare to Savat or American Kickboxing) and BJJ dose not practus strike (original BJJ) that is. .. One must train in more then two styles to say they are a compadent fighter. . .otherwise they are just a "MMA" fighter who has rules to go by. .

Shaolin is made to fight in real ancient times of warfare - not like the modern fighters whose goal is money, competition, hobby or as a fancy. These require training for all their childhood, adulthood, lifetime.

i agree with both of you but this is applicable on the streets i wouldnt use bjj on the streets im not saying it doesnt work it does if your fighting one person but in reality people fight in packs and honestly you think think their friends wont jump in if you whip their friends ass? honestly but stand up you can take on multiple people
