  • haha i have to say i really love sawing shingles its boring but you can make some money at it if the wood is right i guess

  • beleive you me it's one of the most boring jobs in the world....... pick N' clip all damn day

  • you'd have to pay me $50/hr to do his job and i'd quit after 1 day. i hope you pay him a LOT!! :P

  • danger danger dam watch out for that saw blad danger

  • Thanks for the video and input,I'am a green horn saywer reaching out for input, help me keep my position.2weeks old cuting 10-11.50sqrs a day,are right but not enough expearence in recovery, would you consider a lesson video on recovery?

  • @Numas02 @ the speed you are going it is a good time to focus on recovery, making sure you do not trim off too much of the shingles with the right hand, and taking time to examine the blocks before putting them in the carriage. Make sure to learn good habits, develop your techniques now, speed will come later.

  • might try some ear plugs for safety too

  • Thanks for submitting a video. Some tips to make your work easier; keep your elbows in close to your sides and down low, don't lift the shingles so high to clear the frame, but drag them down low across your body. Your shoulders will last a lot longer. Also try standing erect while trimming. leaning forward over the trim board will not only wear out your back, but will also put your face over the chips and slivers flying off the saw.

  • Thanks for that mate, happy new year

  • yo're welcome, i just posted some other videos of the other sawmill i work at, most of the footage is of us sawing large diameter western red cedar logs (5' - 7' in diameter)

  • Very interesting video. Thanks for sharing it.

  • What is shingle please?

  • a shingle is a thin tapered piece of wood (like a wedge) used for roofing or as side wall material on exterior walls. Western red ceedar is used because of its decay resistance
