Its just dumb! stock motor will handle 10psi with a intercooler! 7-10psi on a LSx motor makes 600hp...even 5psi would make 500-550hp...it is a Z06...THIS IS A STOCK Z06 that took the SVT!

Im a Ford guy till i die, but honestly the LS7 is one good damn motor. +500HP on all motor is great. and its an aluminum block, great engineering. not a fan of vettes though.

@BPCHAMP07 high compression motor cant handle lots of boost. the turbos are capable of a lot more psi with the right engine internals. its enough for now.
So cam it...upgrade the pistons... throw some bigger injectors in.. and an intercooler (assumably you already have that though).. and tune it up to 12-14psi... senor mustang wouldve been a footprint in your dust
@BPCHAMP07 High psi does not a big dick make. The more power you can make with least amount of boost is ideal. FYI that Cobra needed 17psi to keep up with the 7psi on the Z.
@BPCHAMP07 7psi is probably all you can get away with on 93 octane and the relatively high compression of the LS6 without meth injection or other band-aids.
@BPCHAMP07 not to mention some people go boosted to maintain the driveablity yes. 500-550rwhp even 600 is possible with heads and a cam on a 402 or 427 but they become big and lumpy at that point versus the quiet smooth driveablity than comes with a s/c or turbo.
@BPCHAMP07 Alot of oldschool guys ran like 5 to 7 psi on the roots 6-71 blowers. With a big engine it makes a real difference. I know old gearheads....
@cstritz AGREED~ I grew up in the late 90s owning 5.0s. So even though i grew up ford, i love american muscle, or even fast cars in general. That said, CHEVY IS KING! The ZR1 is AWSOME, for 120k you have a car that beats cars 4 times the $. But the Z06? WOW, Zo6 is the BALLS! 75k new! put some turbos on that car, and for under 100k, you hav a Supercar that absoloutely BITCHSLAPS EVERYTHING! I hate to say it, but fords overpriced GT500 is no match for the new vettes, id still love a GT500 though
@IRONSEAN7 Shelby ruined the mustang...gt500s are slow for how much hp they have....once the cobra is back it'll be nice! :-) Also, there's no denying it...the new 5.0 RULES the camaros etc! Oh and the Ford GT is better than the ZR1...you can get a ford gt for 120k....tts on a GT and it dominates EVERYTHING, nothing touches it...that's why it almost always holds the record standing mi time (267mph)

the mustang would be better off the line because aerodynamics will come into play quick for the cobra and they never have had a good top end anyway they mustangs are a drag car

Corvettes and Mustangs are 2 different cars from factory. If you want take off and straight line 1/4 fun, that' s the Mustang. If you want speed and track fun, that's the Corvette. Note how I used the word "Factory" not modded. Looks will come down to personal preference.

a 3.4 wippled cobra can put 600 to 650 rwhp. Turbos work best after 2nd or third gear when they kick in. That's why the cobra beat it for the first half of the race until the corvettes turbos took over. Superchargers make car quicker but turbos make a car faster. put those turbos on the cobra and you could see that thing get 800 to 1000 rwhp.
I think its dumb when people try and compare two cars that arent even in the same class. Mustangs re affordable sports cars. Corvettes are not so affordable sports cars. vettes are made of fiberglass and composites and only have two seats. mustangs have metal bodies and have 3 seats-rear seats c'mon! the back seat in a stang is completely useless. First: shelby didnt ruin the gt500. They arent slow.(this coming from a chevy guy)
Secondly: the new 5.0 arent ruling anything. I practically live at the track and all i see is mid 13 second 5.0's and only ONCE have i seen one get into the 12's.
People believe all the hype/diss of magazines. It takes skill to get a 400+ hp car to it maximum performance. My 2010 camaro ran 12.8's at 113mph BONE STOCK. And yet, i see many other 2010 camaro owners struggle to drive theirs to a 13.

@BPCHAMP07 not to mention some people go boosted to maintain the driveablity yes. 500-550rwhp even 600 is possible with heads and a cam on a 402 or 427 but they become big and lumpy at that point versus the quiet smooth driveablity than comes with a s/c or turbo.

@cstritz AGREED~ I grew up in the late 90s owning 5.0s. So even though i grew up ford, i love american muscle, or even fast cars in general. That said, CHEVY IS KING! The ZR1 is AWSOME, for 120k you have a car that beats cars 4 times the $. But the Z06? WOW, Zo6 is the BALLS! 75k new! put some turbos on that car, and for under 100k, you hav a Supercar that absoloutely BITCHSLAPS EVERYTHING! I hate to say it, but fords overpriced GT500 is no match for the new vettes, id still love a GT500 though

@IRONSEAN7 Shelby ruined the mustang...gt500s are slow for how much hp they have....once the cobra is back it'll be nice! :-) Also, there's no denying it...the new 5.0 RULES the camaros etc! Oh and the Ford GT is better than the ZR1...you can get a ford gt for 120k....tts on a GT and it dominates EVERYTHING, nothing touches it...that's why it almost always holds the record standing mi time (267mph)

@IRONSEAN7 ford focused on making small blocks, supercharging them to make their power, while chevy focus's on displacement. chevy continuously makes their "special" vehicles, while ford makes theirs collectables, hense the lightning, cobra, and the GT. theres nothing special about the vette axcept performance, but all of fords special vehicles like the cobra, lightning and gt have collectability and performance.

Corvettes and Mustangs are 2 different cars from factory. If you want take off and straight line 1/4 fun, that' s the Mustang. If you want speed and track fun, that's the Corvette. Note how I used the word "Factory" not modded. Looks will come down to personal preference.

a 3.4 wippled cobra can put 600 to 650 rwhp. Turbos work best after 2nd or third gear when they kick in. That's why the cobra beat it for the first half of the race until the corvettes turbos took over. Superchargers make car quicker but turbos make a car faster. put those turbos on the cobra and you could see that thing get 800 to 1000 rwhp.

I think its dumb when people try and compare two cars that arent even in the same class. Mustangs re affordable sports cars. Corvettes are not so affordable sports cars. vettes are made of fiberglass and composites and only have two seats. mustangs have metal bodies and have 3 seats-rear seats c'mon! the back seat in a stang is completely useless. I have an 02 Z06 and I hang with SVT guys on weekends...its how it goes. Besides..when its a close race..it does not matter what the 2 cars are...the desrve the chance to go against each other for fun.

@HWYHNTR Never said it wasnt a cobra. Never eluded to the presence of modifications nor the absence of mods. If one were smart then one would try and compare cars that are in the same class. The mustangs, including the cobras, are classified as pony cars. Not two seater sports cars.
