As an office lab rat sort of creature, any time I make a change in my appearance I have to be ready to cop the scrutiny of every cubicle dweller. They stop you in the hall "oh you've changed your hair, blah blah blah" So I wonder sometimes what it would be like to cop that sort of scrutiny on a global scale. I think you would probably need to be a thick-skinned arrogant prick to really cope with being a celebrity. That or drugged to the eyeballs. So I guess being a lab rat's not so bad really.

I do think it would be a major uphill battle though to deal with criticism across the board every time you changed something about yourself. Just look at most of the younger celebrities of today. They're a complete mess!

I think it's possible to be arrogant and drugged to the eyeballs for a while, but it's not really sustainable. There's a lot of celebrities in rehab. I wonder if there is a middle ground, a way people can cope with being under mega-public scrutiny with out having to turn into drug addicts or egotists. I reckon there's at least one phd and a couple of journal articles that could be written on that topic.

A middle ground? I would agree with you that there is. Just look at celebs like Johnny Depp. He keeps his private life really private and seems to be a very grounded guy. So maybe if you just keep your private life behind curtains, you can reach that middle ground. Although, most celebs, Depp included, go through their partying phases and either screw their life up or grow out of it.

I agree.. Angelina and Brad don't do the whole Hollywood thing eithor..only time they are there is for the opening of a movie release..otherview they are off on their own..and Jonny Depp... the ones who CHOOSE to be in that world want the attention even when thry pretend they don't want it...
