My battle with Falkner:

I took out his Pidgey in 1 hit with my Lv 16 Totodile

I used moves like bite and water gun to damage pidgeotto

it used roost. It continued to use roost for literally 30 turns in a row! i finally took him out with water gun. Did he do that to anybody else or just me??? Thumbs up if it did
