I'm not going to lie when I say that DC Cooper is my favourite singer in RH's history to date, but the work that John West did on "fear" and "the mission" albums was absolutely terrific!.

Have you ever heard him singing in ARTENSION? i know royal hunt since the very first album, and i like john`s voice better, i think he`s got a lot of punch and feeling in his voice. In the other hand, i think his voice changed a lot after the album fear, i dont know what happened, i even thought i was another singer.I like him better in ARTENSION.

Yes. and for RH's older songs, West's voice isn't proper. For exampe, for "Wasted Time" his voice is just TOO soft, though the softness is for good somewhere else. I just came to say my opinion for best vocalist ever in RH. Take no offense :D I just love The Mission -album and especially song "Surrender". Peace.

@mrmaybe It's not always the "technique" or "vocal range" which defines the best vocalist. In my opinion, DC always had better stage charisma, more "heavymetal-like" sound and suitability for being a frontman of RH. For example, RH song Far Away is one of DC's highlights and only DC can do it right. But don't worry, I love West anyway :D

@mrmaybe Well, why do u think fans around the world wanted Royal Hunt to do a reunion tour with Cooper and not with West? I watched those clips from 2011 tour and it seemed that DC had returned to the only band he belongs to. West is technically very talented and has far more "dimensions" in his voice compared to Cooper, but Cooper has always made me feel the the shivers in my spine, that no one else has done. Cooper is a perfect showman, and RH live 1996 is the best live record ever made.

@DamienDeeMusic I think it has to do with the fact that DC was there before West. People that started listening to RH with West tend to like West better. I think as a band, RH released better albums with West, especially Fear. The self titled song on that album is better than anything DC could ever write for them. Also, we can never really know the real reasons as to why it was DC on the tour instead of West.

@mrmaybe Just to remind you, Adersen writes the songs. And he made Fear album for West's voice. The fans, the promoters and Andersen picked DC for reunion simply cause he made a great and the best show for RH back in 1996 and for the following years. Without him, RH would have never reached the point that it is in now. Right now, people around the world are demanding Cooper's return for a permanent vocalist to the band. All those people can't be wrong. Watch Live 1996 again and see for yourself.

@DamienDeeMusic Right, so since he wrote it for West's diverse style of singing, the songs follow the same trend as well. As far as DC making the best show for the band, that can be easily disagreed upon. The same can be said about the band's popularity. And yes, all those people can be wrong. A good example of that would be how this year's American Idol winner is someone who cannot even use vibrato and yet he was selected by the majority of the votes.

@mrmaybe Are you saying that vocalist who has a better vibrato deserves to win, or deserves a place in Royal Hunt? Royal Hunt is a rock band, whatsoever. And being a frontman of a rock band takes more than perfect vibrato, wide vocal range and good technique. West was quite boring on the stage. Boals is even more boring. DC still got in on the 2011 tour. He has what it takes to be a showman on a rock band. He also has the needed "vibrato" you mentioned, and the ability of touching peoples heart!

@DamienDeeMusic I think the band deserves the best vocalist for it. That vocalist is John West. According to the 2006 live dvd, West doesn't seem boring at all. As for touching hearts, Follow Me, Sea of Time, Cold City Nights, The Prayer, Day is Dawning, those are all songs with just as much if not more feeling and 'heart' than DC puts in his songs.

I am also a huge Boals fan, so no disrespect to mark, the Collision Course album is awesome, but when it comes to the old RH material being done, NO ONE does it better than John

It is not a good thing to compare them, cause they have have quite different techniques. And also they convey different emotions. Luppi's voice seems to be more enthusiastic, but West's is deeper and more emotional. And what is your problem with Royal Hunt BTW? :)
