Just bought this exact truck (minus the nav radio, thankfully). Love it so far, and I can't wait to get to Moab and compare it to my previous 06 Tacoma. I love all the Toyota hater comments.... LOL!!
All this Toyota bashing yet Ford been having issues with the frames bending on the Ford raptor and Ford will not cover it under warranty. They say its the user driving the trucks off-road in serious conditions. Yet most of the drivers reported that the issue occurred on Ford's own off-road test trails. Way to get shafted on a 60k truck.
@Truemoderate then don't buy the fucking car. It's not like you live on fucking mount reineer or something, where you would actually need one of these things.
Too bad toyota's quality is GONE, they are built in America now by people who make less than 1/2 union wage, no wonder quality is gone, and when you have a problem toyota wont fix it. Theres no way I would trust my family's safety to a toyota today.
@juki0h Tundra frames rusting in half, corolla electric steering failure, prius brake problems, sienna ball joints, uninted acceleration, the long list of toyotas with engine failure from the pvc design defect i.e. ( toyota engine oil sludge ) airbag failures, toyota suv tip over design flaws, ect ect ect
@meattube4u33 i would really like to see the website you found this at, because its really hard for me to believe this, toyota are the best quality vehicles in the entire world. have a 1998 tacoma, i run that truck like im in an off road race everytime i drive, no engine problems, no nothing.
@juki0h just start typing in ( toyota problems ) in the search bar right here on youtube and you can stay busy all day looking at toyotas problems, theres dozens of videos on my page even, but my biggest problem with toyota is the fact that toyota hid behind floormats while people died in thier known defective cars, toyota let greed and foolish pride cost people thier lives and now they call Americans ( LAME ) in thier commercials, nice try toyota but this lame American will never trust you.
@meattube4u33 you should tell us your government conspiracy theories too. hahaha, some people are so stupid and act like they know what they are talking about when they don't know shit.

I do not need calus words to get my point across the statistics and DEATHS speak for themselves!!!!!!!!!!!
@888shelly888So you thought you'd risk your kids life more than once? The U.S. gov. and NASA have found that there was no electronic fault in the Toyota accelerator system. The only faults proven so far have been from linkages that get stuck in a non original floor mat. Of course none of this means anything to an American media that glamorizes flaming wreckage and death. As for the lawsuits, they are all filed by people like you who feel they can get some money for free, truth or not
@888shelly888 :Really? So all those NASA scientists who studied toyota's computer program in their cars and gave it a clean sheet must be dumb and you must be the genius. Duh !
@TechCrazy They were paid to test a reflashed ecm, funny thing is when toyota recalled all those millions of cars for a gas pedal fix they also reflashed the ecm, YEPP they sure did, toyota reprogramed the ecm to give the brakes priority over the gas pedal and the gas pedal fix was some bullshit do nothing shims ( just an excuse to get the cars in to quietly reflash the ecm's ) but dont worry it will all come out at the trials where if toyota wont settle thier expected to go bankrupt.
@meattube4u33: Bullshit ! I have a 4Runner and i went to the dealer and all they did was replace the mat (which i didnt need as i had no issues) and shaved off the accelerator pedal.
@TechCrazy BULLSHIT toyota reflashed the ecu's of cars and trucks with fly by wire throttle control to stop sudden unintended acceleration because it was the only way to safeguard against the electronic glitch, and toyota slipped this ecu reflash in when they shimmed gas pedals, now if your four turd was older and it had a cable throttle then it wouldnt need a reflash or a shim and you got the hacked off gas pedal and smaller floormat as part of the toyota cover up show
@meattube4u33 You drive a clunker and you are jealous? How sad. Toyota 4 runner rocks ! I have it and love it. Now shove your clunker in a land fill and drive something decent !
@TechCrazy I drive a 2010 American car and its AWSOME, it even has brakes that work and no sudden unintended acceleration, so I can take the family with me and not kill anyone.
@meattube4u33 :That says it all. You drive whatever you want. Open the hood and you will find your car isnt all that american. Hey whatever works for you.
As for me? I will never drive another vehicle even if the gas hits 10 dollars a gallon. Its 4Runner for me all the way !
I WAS ALMOST KILLED IN MY TOYOTA '06 4 RUNNER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WITH MY TWO YEAR OLD IN THE BACK! NEVER EVER EVER WILL I BUY ANOTHER TOYOTA!! THIS WAS BEFORE ALL THIS CRAP WAS IN THE MEDIA...THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY FLOOR MATS!! TO BAD MY ATTORNEYS PROVED OTHERWISE. I HAVE BEEN CONTACTED FROM AROUND THE GLOBE FROM LAWYERS THAT HAVE CASES AGAINST TOYOTA. THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM....WAIT UNTIL THESE CARS GET HIGER MILES AND ARE KILLING NOT ONLY THE PEOPLE DRIVING THEM BUT ALSO THE INNOCENT!
Don't blame Toyota because you don't know how to drive. You're a fail. Toyota didn't have the pedal problems until 2009. "'06 4Runner" my ass. Go buy whatever you wanna buy. They will crap out every few months. My entire family has Toyotas dating back since the early '80s and we have some of the new ones. Not a single problem.
I have a 1990 Jeep Wrangler and it hasn't gotten me stuck yet, hoping to get one of these new 4runner trails to go with it, only problem is the MSRP is a little high for my taste. 4runner is the only SUV that I seem to like now a days, since it actually seems to be off road capable. I know I will use my Wrangler for my off road fun most of the time but it would be nice to have a comfortable vehicle that is equally as capable.
@texasyj2009 Why not stick with Jeep? A Grand Cherokee will do all the 4 runner can and more. I don't know about the price difference though the Jeep GC might be a little bit more expensive.
@texasyj2009, I agree. I have a 99 wrangler that is lifted and I find the 4runner a good fit for my next vehicle as well because of its off road capability and comfort on road. Toyota makes great SUV's and trucks but the prices for them are on the high side. Even a used 08 4runner with 80k on it is still going for $28k up here in Minnesota. I guess its up to the buyer to determine what a reasonable price is.
It looks like Toyota went down a little bit in quality with the 5th generation compared to the 4th generation. I wish they brought back the front tow hooks, and the Interior niceties. My '94 is great. not a rattle or a squeak. Like the 4x4 lever on my '94 better than the new ones as well. Just looks like a downgrade to me.
I love the new 4runners! I am from Colorado, the off road capital of America. (Utah is the only state that even comes close). In Colorado, the new more compact body lines and higher ground clearance is exactly what the doctor ordered for Colorado 4-wheeling. It gives me something to think about for my next vehicle. Do i get anouther jeep or go with a 4runner or Tacoma?
@n8dawg82100@n8dawg82100 If you get another Jeep I hope you have tow coverage on your insurance ;] I have a '94 4Runner with over 300k on it. I want to get a new 4Runner after they re-vamp it again next year hopefully.
The new 2010 4runner looks crapy ! I like the 2002-2009 versions plus it is too long the fucken added a third row. This is not a good off roader if it is to long. If you want a third row buy a Sequoia.
WOOT 4RUNNER FTW! I own a 1990 4Runner SR5 V6 Coupe only has 270 000 km on it, but my god is this thing a beast i just wished i had a solid axle up front like the Land cruisers have :( but aside from that it is god like! Even though my 4runner is stock it can do things even well built heeps can lol oh and the new 2010 jeep is IFS all around which = the jeep version of the dodge journey which also = JUNK
@theguyyah I dont know about that. Whenever you have a removeable top like the Wranglers, you cant have roof rails needed for a roof lugage compartment that is needed when a group/family of four or more goes camping. Trust me. the lugage area inside the vehicle is barely enough for the cooler and stove. You still need room for tent(s) sleeping bags, and clothing. I say keep the solid roof with roof rails.
the 4th gen is not so good.i went off roading with my friend yesterday after heavy rain.he has the 4th gen.i have a stock 03 discovery with open diffs and tc.he has a front locker stock.my truck out did his in everything even though it was open diff with tc
I am a 4runner owner. my last one is an 04, and after going to the dealer to upgrade to a 2010, I was completely disappointed. This is a step backward for any 4 runner owner. A 6 cyl, featureless box thats so ugly, it makes my 04 look brand new again. and 19 inch ghetto tires??? WTF? not one reputable tire co makes a decent 19. its time to look elsewhere for me ( and many others) as this horrific looking piece of shit hits so far below the mark its embarrassing.
@rivengle I guess utube gives an opportunity for those, such as yourself, to imagine what its like owning a new vehicle, much like smelling the steaks the neighbors are cooking, or imagining what a decent piece of ass is like. Now, hop on your bike, go cash that cheque, and dont forget those extra fries...... mmmmm.
@llammaplease There is no safety in driving on lights at day. In country which I live in every car has to drive on lights 24/7 .... the number of crashes are 10% more. The pedestrian and bicycle (crashes with children) have risen way over 15% ... also crashes with motorbike above 40% rise.... Where is the safety DUMBASS ???? Also you destroy your night vision very fast - for about a year your front lights are no good - have to replace them.... Visibility at day is good enough to drive without
@ATV8153 Drive a Hummer in Iraq or Afganistan on lights so the nearest man with a rocket launcher see can pick you easier .... Still I think it's stupid and destroy your lights .... get outside sometime and see how hot they are at day driving slow as in a traffic jam.... See the mirror inside how is it burned.
The Electric Steering in these Toyota cars is extremely bad. The new Corolla with electric power steering has dangerously bad road handling issues. I cannot stress in words how badly these cars handle on the road. Toyota's spokesmen lie about the problem and they are ignoring this problem because there is no fix for it. The problem is the steering system itself. Toyota cannot afford to do what is right and that is to repurchase these awful cars from customers who bought them in good faith.
@leadnsteel lol, the new explorer is gay, the Traverese is gay, the Pilot is gay, and Nissan is getting rid of the xterra, like I care, its a pos anyway, so the 4Runner is really in its own class! Awsome!
@1997cochise hahah why would you want a product from the almost forgotten Chrysler LLC? especially when all of their vehicles are rated below average for dependability? no offense just curious (:
@Zinizzle No offense taken. I had a 97 cherokee with a 4.0L I-6. It was a great car. I drove it until it had around 300,000 miles. I've held off buying another Jeep because, just like you said, their dependability has gone to hell. I'm hoping Fiat will help them get it together, and give the Wrangler some balls besides that outdated mini-van engine. My friends and family have and do own Toyota products. They've been great until recently. Besides, it's hard to beat 370 hp and 11in of g. c.
@1997cochise ohhh the 4.0 I-6 is legendary. By far one of the best American built engines. And yeah I hope Chrysler can pull it back together, gonna take a lot of work. But just for Jeeps sake. I could care less about Chrysler or Dodge. And Toyota is a great manufacturer, as well as the rest of the Japanese. They started slacking when they were made more in the US then the big 3. Our Toyota 4Runner has close to 300,000 on it now. Nothing done.
@Zinizzle My brother in law had a 90's compact Toyota pickup. I think it was before the Tacoma nameplate. Anyway, it was bulletproof. The only thing that slowed it down was the Saturn that he ran into. It killed him to trade it in, but he and his wife are starting a family and needed something that can haul kids. I think that whole recall will keep Toyota from resting on their laurels and get back to what they do best. Making great cars.
I would like to see this with an off road package with 15 plus inches of wheel travel with fox racing shocks, 35 inch tires with two selectable lockers, I am dreaming, Toyota would never do that, And I wouldn't call this a serious off roader, not like the Ford Raptor or H-3 T Alpha or the Jeep Rubicon. I have owned many modified Toyota trucks, so I am not a blind biased badge whore.
I love the 4runner, the Ford Explorer is going to uni-gay facking body frame for next year, and who knows about the chevy and dodge, the pathfinder is gay. So the 4runner is really in its own class. It rules!
I have always loved the 4Runner and the new redesigned 2010 Trail Edition is by far my favorite of all. Great go-anywhere vehicle that not only looks great, but is also very functional and dependable.
LMFAO !!!! I own a 2nd generation 4runner. 1995 was the last year Toyota made a 4runner, this is soccer mom crap! Off-Road capable lol with that whole 8inch of clearance! This is nothing more than a Toyota escalade! They haven't even had a box frame since 95. Mine can fit 32in tires stock.
@Lukeschedel If you're buying a 4WD, you don't look at how fast it can go. You buy it becaues it's capable, economical and drivable. How do the things that count stack up against the Dodge?
I love the styling and performance to back it up. The i-Force V8 in the Tundra would have been neat to see in a 4 runner, but the V6 is nothing to scoff at.
The 4Runner is a very sturdy car-though not as fuel efficient as some other cars. My first car was a 1999 V6 Limited. Some guy in a van hit me from behind once at a stoplight at ~ 40 mph which caused my car to hit a Honda in front of me (sandwiched). The van got dented a bit, Accord took the most damage, 4Runner-no dent at all with only scratches on the front bumper.
inner office documents at toyota proved that toyota knew they had a deadly problem and that toyota intentionally avoided recalls to save money, now toyots says they are sorry, toyota is sorry, sorry they got caught.
4Runners are really nice, I'll buy a new one after I finish college and begin making some real money. Hopefully, they'll do a facelift (like adding projector xenons, LED tails, upgrade interior etc) by then. I wouldn't buy any new car without HIDs, period.
@kingfarticus LOL i understand ur point but i think this whole recall is a big overreaction. DId you know every one of GMC's cars is currently under recall (every single one)? No one said anything about that! Toyota has too much in the future for this to hold them down.
Chrysler has had that same problem for years, they don't try to fix it, Ford had the fire problem, took them 17 years to think about fixing it, think next time before you speak! people just cover those up with the yota problem!
unintended acceleration kills, protect our childern and know the facts about toyotas unintended acceleration and what too do if your toyota races out of control, god bless the usa
I just had test drived for a few minuts and i like it, i m going to order one with third row of seats, that probably is going to take a couple of weeks, but i let you know for sure in a few days.
@zadryum It's pretty good. More than it feels smooth... it feels big. It has a distinct feel compared to other SUV's and Crossovers, but the feel is not overpowering. It has a surprisingly good ride, but the cabin noise is elevated because of the big tires. However, don't let this discourage you- it's an amazing car. If you buy one, Just have them fix the throttle right then and there.
@Motorfordtoyota No, it's not on the recall list. They released the fact that the American manufacturer of their gas pedals in the United States was to blame.
Automakers are so globalized these days. The FJ Cruiser was designed and engineered in the US and built in Japan. How do you know if the 4Runner doesn't use CTS brakes?
I LOVE 4Runners, last gen, toyota was loosing the 4runner but now, I LOVE IT again. That look is the best in class. To bad they aren't putting the 4.6 in it :( I want one, Well when the gas pedal problem is over!
The 4th gen was a dissapointment to me. I grew iup in the 90s and ALWAYS loved those rugged 4runners of that time. Finally I have something I can buy and like. I really like this.
the engine on the 2009-present Toyota 4Runner

In Colorado, the new more compact body lines and higher ground clearance is exactly what the doctor ordered for Colorado 4-wheeling. It gives me something to think about for my next vehicle. Do i get anouther jeep or go with a 4runner or Tacoma?

Toyota, please bring back the removable top on these 4runner!
theguyyah 1 year ago 32
@theguyyah I dont know about that. Whenever you have a removeable top like the Wranglers, you cant have roof rails needed for a roof lugage compartment that is needed when a group/family of four or more goes camping. Trust me. the lugage area inside the vehicle is barely enough for the cooler and stove. You still need room for tent(s) sleeping bags, and clothing. I say keep the solid roof with roof rails.

WTF? not one reputable tire co makes a decent 19. its time to look elsewhere for me ( and many others) as this horrific looking piece of shit hits so far below the mark its embarrassing.

llammaplease 1 year ago

1997cochise 1 year ago
@1997cochise hahah why would you want a product from the almost forgotten Chrysler LLC? especially when all of their vehicles are rated below average for dependability? no offense just curious (:
Zinizzle 1 year ago
@Zinizzle No offense taken. I had a 97 cherokee with a 4.0L I-6. It was a great car. I drove it until it had around 300,000 miles. I've held off buying another Jeep because, just like you said, their dependability has gone to hell. I'm hoping Fiat will help them get it together, and give the Wrangler some balls besides that outdated mini-van engine. My friends and family have and do own Toyota products. They've been great until recently. Besides, it's hard to beat 370 hp and 11in of g. c.
1997cochise 1 year ago
@1997cochise ohhh the 4.0 I-6 is legendary. By far one of the best American built engines. And yeah I hope Chrysler can pull it back together, gonna take a lot of work. But just for Jeeps sake. I could care less about Chrysler or Dodge. And Toyota is a great manufacturer, as well as the rest of the Japanese. They started slacking when they were made more in the US then the big 3. Our Toyota 4Runner has close to 300,000 on it now. Nothing done.
Zinizzle 1 year ago

The 4Runner is a very sturdy car-though not as fuel efficient as some other cars. My first car was a 1999 V6 Limited. Some guy in a van hit me from behind once at a stoplight at ~ 40 mph which caused my car to hit a Honda in front of me (sandwiched). The van got dented a bit, Accord took the most damage, 4Runner-no dent at all with only scratches on the front bumper.

santiago360uru 2 years ago
@zadryum It's pretty good. More than it feels smooth... it feels big. It has a distinct feel compared to other SUV's and Crossovers, but the feel is not overpowering. It has a surprisingly good ride, but the cabin noise is elevated because of the big tires. However, don't let this discourage you- it's an amazing car. If you buy one, Just have them fix the throttle right then and there.
