With that it's like it didn't know whether or not it wanted to be serious and tragic with freeze's wife and alfred's illness or just campy and silly with the rest of it. Those two things don't really go well together. With the 60's show and this movie it knows that it's a straight up campy parody of batman and that was because the comics around this time where either just as silly or maybe even more so than this. So for what this is it's fine.

Yes. It's true, you should see it. They're all gathered at a meeting table, where they're all arguing about something, when penguin, joker, and crew "dehydrate" them all into colored sand, put them into tubes and run away with them. Batman and Robin eventually save them, using a cheesy "Super Molecular Re-hydrator" that restores them, despite the fact the sand got mixed up and seperated. There are a zillion things that should not work here (you should see it), but they do anyway.
