Ok so what I gather watching the video numerous times is that they forgot to rehearse. Noel thinks that the strings come to early in the intro. Watch his head turn when he first hears them.

When Noel starts singing he comes in too early but it fits perfectly with the crowd's singing which makes me believe noel forgets that the strings section has an extra 4 bars at the start. the crowd sings 4 bars too early leaving Noel the come in too early too cos he busy shouting at Liam the sook

For people wondering; Liam got frustrated because he claimed that the harmonica player started early. Hence the harmonica player giving him the finger at 1:38. Noel basically told him to sit down and let him sing it, which is why Liam was giving the "go on then" hand signals to Noel. Noel started at the wrong part because he did not want to screw up the audience. Also, Liam messed up because traditionally, the audience sings the first few verses. As I said, that's why Noel started wrong.

Noel, ever the perfectionist, got mad, and the hot-headed Liam storms off to the side, gets flipped the bird, and smokes a cigarette. Sometimes watching the brothers interact is the best part of watching a live Oasis song.
