The Tornado here is ZA447 TA of 15 squadron,it was originally a GR1 but was converted to a GR4 ....its on the 'Scramble air show reports' for the Avalon airshow 2001 as a GR1B....
hey.. jsut to say that TheFighterpilot93 is wrong ! there is a GR1 ! a quick google search will show this ! - - - - The RAF Tornado GR1 was the first generation version of the Panavia Tornado strike aircraft of the Royal Air Force. The first of 228 GR1s was delivered on 5 June 1979, and the type entered service in the early 1980s. 142 aircraft were upgraded to GR4 standard from 1997 to 2002, after which time the GR.1 designation was abandoned.
Nice!....this is a Tornado GR1 by the way,if you ever see the two together, the Tornado F3 has a longer nose and no tail cutaway just above the thrust reverse gear....
the tornado is actually primarily a fighter or multi role it's just used as a bomber and low level infiltrator becouse of the things it can do . don't worry i'm ultimatly agreeing with but filling in the bits you missed
@Diemerstein The Tornado can fly in excess of mach 1.2 at ground level, No other plane can do this piriod, Wanna bet!!! I can name a couple, F-104 Starfighter and the F-111, They long since retired the 104 but the Ausies still use the F-111 and it can match if not out run the tornado at see level.
@Diemerstein I am not correcting you or anything, just curious, surly an F22 fitted with beyond the horizon missiles could take down a Tornado GR4 or F3?
@Diemerstein i'm wondering where did you hear this: "The Tornado can fly in excess of Mach 1.2 at ground level, no other plane can do that"? you really think planes like f15,typhoon etc can't do this??
you fuckin cunts!!! this is the GR tornado..... it don't sound like your typical yank shit cos its built to be silent and deadly.... clown shoes? by the time you've been bombed its kicking its heals???? think about it? you some redneck clown?????? got a big shooter????? hahaha dick HEAD?????
Huh I used to work on XV(reserve) sqn years ago. Since it's the training squadron (both basic flight and weapons training) for the Tornado GR4 they provided the display team each year. They'd practice most days over Lossiemouth during the air show season. Always decent to watch.
10years ago it was a horrible sqn to work for. Low morale because of it's downgrading from active service left a nasty atmosphere, if only I'd got to work with Nimrods further down the road at Kinloss :P
I was also there! Best hi speed pass i have seen at Avalon! It got the blood pumping! Pity they did not bring them back for the recent Avalon Airshows.
They havent brought them back due to being deployed across the world and the UK's RAF display resources wearing very thin - same goes for the Chinook Helicopter thats not displaying this year. :*(
heres a llama theres a llama and a nother little llama fuzzy llama funny llama llama llama duck! i was once a treehouse i lived in a cake but i never saw the way the orange slayed the rake i was only 3 years dead but it told a tale and now listen little child to the safety rail

the tornado is a tri national project as the eurofighter is i live in northwest england and have worked on both as well as the f 35 lighting wich the fuselage is built in same areas as the eurofighter by the same technicians ..
The Tornado is a three-nations project developed in the 70's by England,Germany and Italy and actually is one of the best low-level penetrator in the world (600 knots at 200 feet with his terrain-following radar).
Nowadays the interdiction rules are changed and this peculiarity is non required to the new-generation bombers.
The tornado still is powerful even though its not the newest generation of planes. It's cool. The F-22 can take the Tornado or any other US plane too, easily.
The Typhoon is an awesome plane in the airshow ballet and is gaining a good reputation, but the GR4 is just a solid muscle with bombs on that just punches it's way in every time.
Don't forget to get you tickets for RIAT this year the F-22A has confirmed and hopefully the Vulcan.
The Tornado is one the prettiest planes ever. Even though it has some years on it, it is still a very capable aircraft that is still being used. I love planes from the UK and I,m an American.
the tornado is an old plane though, you compare the migs manuverability to the raptor its even , yet the migs have been doin that for quite some time...

The GR4 is a upgraded GR1 which was the initial Tornado version in the RAF.
blablubb12345 2 years ago
GR4s are modernized GR1s. The Tornado GR1 was RAFs initial version of the Tornado IDS (interdiction/strike).

Comparing a F-22 to a Tornado is just plain stupid...why you ask? Because they are 2 separate aircraft types.
The F-22 is a fighter, the Tornado is a bomb truck.
It can deliver 20,000Lbs or ordnance, the F-22 can't.
The Tornado can fly in excess of Mach 1.2 at ground level, no other plane can do that period.
The Tornados best defense against fighters it can't beat, is to simply outrun it .

The Tornado F3 in this vid IS a fighter. There are 2 different types of the Tornado, the IDS/GR4 strike fighter and the ADV/F3 air defence fighter.
