yes work, just you neet to turn on & off the airplane mode same thing with 3g,cellular data & cellular data network. woks to me...( also reboot ).

Thank you so much im using an iphone 3gs i got from my buddy 4 free cuz he upgraded,i bought a 20$ at&t go phone at the store and called and activated took 10 min then got the 50$ plan for txt and calls then the 25$ 500mb data but data didnt work! i really thought i was screwed but then i found this video and did the unlockit apn thing and bam it works great thank you so much your a lifesaver!!

It worked for me. The set up is a little different. Choose "AT&T" one the carrier and you are all set.

Using iPhone 3gs. Works perfectly.

If not, please please please tell me how you were able to do so, I got an iphone 3GS and purchased a 50 unlimited everything from at&t and got a 3g simcard (universal).....the phone and texting work fine, but data does not, i did all the APN settings and still doesnt work.....please help! @jorgemb77 and anyone else who knows...with the $50 unlimited plan on AT&T's gophone are you using only edge or are you also accessing the 3g network? I'm with tmobile's $50 unlimited and they are unable to offer the 3g to iphone users, only edge.

I'm on metro pcs with another phone & I use the 3GS as a iPod & for the apps. I'd rather have it as phone. Check this out...I went to my local AT&T store and gave them a BS story about needing a sim card. So right there in front of my the guy Activated a new card for me and I paid the $50 for the plan. So I get it home, cut it down and put it into my iPhone 4. At first there was 1 bar, then it said SEARCHING, now it's back to saying No Service!!! What's the problem???

@mollymichelle05 it's probably not your phone's fault but AT&Ts. give them a call and tell them that you popped your sim into a prepaid phone (dont let them know it's an iphone) and that it's not working, and they'll probably try and troubleshoot it. make sure you go to unlock it, choose the correct network and turn data roaming on and wifi off.

@verstail09 I think you'll get charged $0.01 for every kb used after you exceed your 100mb. I'm only visiting the States for 2 months so i don't use much of the text/sms except for the data to connect with my friends and family overseas. You can assume that i'm only paying $20 per month for data then...occasionally exceed a few dollars cos i'm on the $2 unlimited talk/text package.

@tevinscott1 you'll have to pay $20 every month which gives you only 100mb worth of data. The other option is paying $4.99 for only 1mb worth of data. That's the only option you've got now on AT&T if you're using their GoPhone services. I'm still new to AT&T but that's the info i got based on the website.
