But I don't understand what the point is for the Chinese government to destroy these Tibet monastery. Do they get any benefit from it? That's easy. If then can water down the culture and religion then these areas of society will be easier to control. How does it benefit them? Silly question. Hundreds of thousands of pounds of gold, silver were taken to China mainland just prior to the cultural revolution. They are in Tibet for the land, space, resources, lumber, WATER, strategic military location, etc. They are busy trying to make Tibet look like it has always been theirs, changing street names to Chinese, etc.

I think it is important to understand why Tibet is NOT part of China because this seems to be the cause of misunderstanding between Chinese and Tibetans.
The Chinese government insisted on the signing of the 17 Agreement of 1951 between Tibet and China, which you can see at
