Doctor Who - Clean Tom Baker Opening (1974)

Hello can someone help me . What is the name of the Tom Baker Dr Who episode, it has one of  the Romana's and some other guy.

The other guy walks into a strange room and tries to run but can't get anywhere, like some force field is stoping him.

Dr Who pushs some button on the wall and Dr Who and Romana walk into the room and step on some sophisicated transporter zooms them across the room in seconds.

I actually believe that Paul McGann would have done a great job for the doctor if the story for the film of doctor who had been good enough to turn into a series but sadly no... still thiink he would have been great :)

By now, I'm pretty sure I missed out from not knowing about this show back in its hey-day. Not that I even existed during this fourth doctor era, however. But I do get the vibe that was its prime, the fourth doc really looks the most like it.

Anyway, I'd heard the name before but I got here by watching the Family Guy Blue Harvest (Star Wars parody) movie. When they're going into hyperspace and this this title sequence kicks in... the music just got me. Freaking out of this world. Gotta have it.

It was iconoclastic. It was different from tv as usual. It didn't have the stuff tv shows are supposed to have: a beautiful lead who was a military captain or super cop, it didn't have music that sounded like a commercial, it didn't have a sig. theme with actors in various action poses...

@aquagrl63 It was weird and wonky and not trying to be anything other than itself; and it was this which had an impact and why the writers of Family Guy naturally think of Tom Baker when they want to make a drwho reference. Perfectly natural for anyone who is not a dues paying fanwank. Because the rest is just commerce, innit. Although I get that fanwanks are undiscerning, I still want to grab one and ask, "the boy chorus schtick used in action movie trailers? Really? xmas specials? Really!?"

@ion010101 This is actually why I like the fifth season of the new show. Because the music got way less intense, and Matt Smith is WAY less angsty than David Tennant. And there isn't a dramatic romance. It's just a girl and her quirky imaginary friend. It's less an action drama and more of an adventure show.

Pink Floyd-esque. It wasn't trying to be anything other than itself. It wasn't a parody of itself. For a while, it rose above camp. Sherlock Holmes in space. It was a kids show for bright kids, a straight drama that dared to take kids seriously; and that made it good for adults, too. The hero didn't need to be beautiful, or win the day with violence, or be a dashing military officer. It didn't need to be a commercial for itself, or court popularity with 100 voice boys choir action music...

Is Tom Baker the definitive Doctor? (The... ah... Genuine Article?) Maybe. He was certainly the first I ever saw, and had a great big run. But he always had the air of someone laughing at you, and the the show and the fans. In many ways, he reminds me of the Star Trek movies, where Shatner, Kelly and Doohan would exceed their usual overacting and almost mug at the camera, as if to say "Yeah, we know it's awfully lame, and our fans are total dweebs, but I'm getting 3 mil plus points."

I am disappointed the show ever changed from the Tom Baker theme. Still the best one. Had all of the intrigue of the original from the 60s, with the little ornaments that made it interesting. Very haunting. The 80s one was trying too hard to be cool, and the newer ones are trying too hard to be John Williams (and who wants to hear that?). I'd love to see Matt Smith's next season open with the old, haunting, charming theme music.
