Hey man. I've watched all of your videos and I must say the quality of your work is fantastic. Granted I'm not an animator (but I do love animation, trad especially), but there always seems to be plenty of life in your animation/drawings, not to mention the tight line work.
Just out of curiosity - have you always been adept with pencil in hand or did you have to practice/study as often as, for example, a musician would?
As for your question I asked a lot of animators myself that same question and the responses were always the same: "The more you do it the better you get at it." So yeah, it's the same thing as a musician practicing his instrument. Whats more important is to keep a very open mind when you're learning to draw, especially when it comes to using theories and practices and using curved and straight lines together to give drawings more strenght.
Likewise, I always find myself wondering how naturally talented an artist was when they first took pencil in hand. Probably due to the fact the I fall into the have-some-natural-talent-but-need-to-work-at-it bracket and envy those who seem born to draw. But, as I've discovered over the years, even the greatest artists worked hard to achieve their lot regardless of natural aptitude. Moral of the story: keep on doodling! =]
