  • wtf he winked at me... 1:33..

this is good but not quite the same as classic pumpkins

which fused emotion with new sounding music.

  • FUCKING TIGHT.....

  • Was this recorded to vhs? Cause it looks like it was and it sounds better than the other video of the same performance.

  • @dubified89 TiVo Recording. Cable access here in the middle of nowhere doesn't give the best video quality.

  • his strat is so f*cking badass

  • Even if their new stuff will never quite be able to compare to the old, it's this performance that got me into the band. I saw it when it aired originally in 2007, and the Pumpkins have been one of my favorite bands ever since.

  • Holy shit the big band were playing King's X :O

  • the reunion album was alright, but Jimmy Chamberline was supurb on it as ussual!

  • @Metfan4000 I agree with wbarnhill Mellon collie is probably the best. Other then that I suggest Siamese dream and gish. There also great.

  • Jimmy so powerful

  • Absolutely sick drumming. Jimmy's still got it more than ever.

  • remember watching this on letterman , they were on there for like a solid week lol

  • @ aXmanchi - Ginger is a doll and D'arcy will always hold a special place in my heart. But part of me wishes Melissa was there from the beginning to the end.

  • smashing pumpkins make me happy

  • if anyone knows if theres an interview on letterman with the pumpkins send me a link plz and thanks

  • i like the smashing pumpkins their tite

  • jimmy :D

  • I think billy has a interesting, yet completely understandable fascination with hot female bass players.

  • professionals, look out

  • Wow Billy Corgan plays an underrated and mean guitar

  • anyone else notice him singing out of the microphone?!?! they sound good live but they look so monotone and dont move. sounds just like its from the recording studio though. must say. this is bothering me though check out how he moves closer and farther from the mic the whole song? it explains why he sounds the way he does I guess?

  • Billy isn't 20 anymore.

So he's not gonna move and jump around and bend like he did back in the 90's.

  • so the red hot chili peppers do and they were way more hard core than the pumpkins and theyre all in their late forties except for john

  • its mainly keetus or how ever you spell his name, who jumps around the most because he doesn't play an instrument, and when the band first started out he wasn't even a singer he didn't start singing until way later on

  • They are the only band that sounds good live! them and pink floyd

  • hey i'm trying to get into this band-got their greatest hits and absoloutely loved it. what is their best album?

  • Personally, I'd say Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. The music ranges from quiet and mellow to angry and thrashing, so you're bound to find at least a few favorites.

If you enjoy Tarantula, some songs on MCIS you might like: Zero, Bullet w/ Butterfly Wings, An Ode to No One, Bodies, Where Boys Fear to Tread, and Jellybelly. All strong musically, but might be a little more rough in vocals than Tarantula. Good luck!

  • cant go wrong with Siamese Dream either.

  • Adore

  • See, the thing is they are so diverse that everyone has their own favorite album and their own opinion on the best. For new fans I'd say Mellon Collie and Siamese Dream, and if you'd like more, Gish and Adore.

  • Comment removed

  • @Metfan4000 without no doubt i say siamese dream, that album is epic if u like "tarantula and "doomsday clock"

  • they're fucking amazing live hoylshit

  • billy's a badass guitarist

  • Did the network freak out that they played that long? Awesome! Letterman didn't walk over but maybe no time.

  • 3:45 tru 3:55 is awesome, especialy the guitars

  • The new drummer is NOT new! It's Jimmy Chamberlin!

  • Billy Corgan rules!

  • are these the originol members?

  • only the singer and drummer are original members :D

  • Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlain yes, Ginger and Jeff no, they pretty much only played on the Zeitgeist tour.

  • great song but you think the drummer could look anymore bored

  • he looks like he's playing some badass drums. i don't ask for more than that.

  • This is the best song ever!

    I love it

  • that was fu**ing beautiful, billy can molest a strat like no other..........im not jusst kissun ass to the boss either

  • 3:09 he misses the solo entrance and it's like he goes back to the mic to start it again half a beat late

  • You can tell it made him pretty mad too - he nails the guitar part though

  • well he always plays it like that live...i think he just needs the time to get to the note...he's trying to play too many parts

  • bullshit. he plays it fine.

  • 1:53 great solo so good

  • certainly explains why Billy doesn't play Guitar Hero... he IS a guitar hero

  • agreed!

  • best pumpkins song

  • i wouldnt say that but its damn good!

  • @beatlesfanman he IS a guitar hero for those who were not able to experience hendrix (did you see the pun there? did you see it?) or plant and page in their heyday, or hell, even someone like billy squier or eddie van halen.

    or dimebag. :(

  • Naah ... Sorry but Ginger is HOT !!! And hey... I mean Darcy and James were part of the Pumpkins, but now... Ginger !! I mean c'mon, if your girlfriend was playing all Pumpkins songs with a Bass ? wooot !!!

  • i really dont think it matters. billy is the main music writer in the pumpkins and the other musicians just kinda fit in with him. jimmy has awesum druming and its him and billy who make the pumpkin sound not really the others, hence the way theyve made an album which not only lives up to the amazing SP sound, but is actually better in every way than some of the others. its as gud as mellon collie or siamese dream, if not better.

  • the smashing pumpkins are and always will be my favorite band, but this album is in no way better than Siamese Dream or Gish, for example

  • great tunes, but with James and D'arcy is a totally different story. Get them back Billy please!

  • This is good, however Corgan needs to call iha and darcy up right now and get them back together, then everything will be ok in the world.

  • solo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sick sick sick, phat phat sound!! This song incorporates everything great about the pumpkins <3

  • that was great!

  • pretty much the catchiest song of all time... i heard it one time about 3 days ago and it has been in my head ever since

  • james iha is gettin' fat. poor guy.

  • thats not james iha you moron.

  • IHA...!

  • Gave me a reasone to watch Letterman that night

  • coolness, back to guitar-driven pumpkin rock... i always like Billy better with a strat.

  • uh...billy seems so shy in this performance

  • thanks for posting. "reunion" more like a Zwan reunion. it's good, and he has the right to use the name, it's like the Cure now, Robert Smith and whoever.

  • Thanks for posting. I love SP!!!!!

  • Am I the only one who has a strange attraction to the new bassist?

  • no, you are not the only one ;)

  • I wouldn't even call it strange.

  • Listen to the album, which is simply awesome, before you judge the new band

  • Theres more or less a "band" on the Zeitgeist album because all the song recordings on Zeitgeist consist of Billy playing guitar, bass, vocals and editing with Chamberlin playing drums. The touring bass and guitarist came after all the recording was done.

  • not even one close up of the new guitarist wth is that...

  • what kind of a weird disgusting diaper is ginger wearing there? gross

  • i think it might be some kind of hoop skirt that's just being pushed back by her guitar? it looks awkward, whatever it is. ;p

  • She's a fluffy swan! Thats hot.

  • Zeitgeist's awesome!! It brings back the classic SP sound missing on Adore and Machina. And this song kicks ass!!

  • Classic? Are you deaf? This sounds nothing like Gish or Mellon Collie. What do you mean?

  • los smashing pumpkins es mensa banda, que bueno que regresaron, lastima que no estan james iha y darcy, pero iwal me alegro que regresaran, excelente cancion...

  • sasto! son la ostia

  • this was not smashing pumpkins. This was Billy Corgan and Friends. No D'Arcy, no James, no shmumkins. Song sounded alright I guess.

  • Billy Corgan IS the smashing pumpkins

  • I'm with you. It's just not the same. They could have at least got James back...but no, it's not the same.

  • the477...

James had no interest in returning. He's to busy turning into a fat, non-relevant fan boy of shitty acts like Vanessa and the O's. fuck 'em! We 'gon keep on rockin'!

  • i agree, it's not the pumpkins without james + d'arcy or melissa. this is billy & jimmy + two anonymous people not allowed to take any attention away from billy.

  • Try seeing them in concert they're still the pumpkins, they still kick ass.

  • Their new album is thrilling!

  • This is very very good, they wre always amazing and they keep on getting better. I miss Billys rasp, but I'm really impressed with his current vocals. Not to mention those amazing guitar solos. He's still got it!

  • OMG! THEY ARE SO AMAZING
