I've gotten to like the soundtrack album this recording's from, but I'm afraid Charlotte's contribution's one of the low points, imo. What a weak singer. She's not even a strong whisperer! There are many other female (as well as male) singers on the album who do fine jobs: Cat Power, Mira Billotte, Georgia Hubley of Yo La Tengo, Marketa Irglova, & Karen O., whose version of "Highway 61 Revisited" is my fave vocal performance on the album. But what a yawner Charlotte is (sorry Charlotte!).

Just because her style of singing does not appeal to you, or just doesn't do the trick for you, it doesn't mean it is so for everyone. Personally I love the way she sings and I wouldn't have it any other way from her. She's unique and her voice is beautiful. If you don't like it, don't watch it, the only purpose your offensive remarks serve is to annoy those of us who actually like and love both Charlotte Gainsbourg and her cover of this song.

I think she's a very beautiful woman, and a very talented actrice. But I don't like the way she sings. She's reminiscent of her mother - singing in a whispery little girly voice. I always found Jane Birkin laughable, & I pray that Charlotte FINALLY learns that she should stick with what she's good at - acting. If she loves singing so much, she should do what most other untalented singers do - just sing in the shower, & not subject others to this embarrassing rubbish! She's better than that.

I love Charlotte Gainsbourg!! A gorgeous looking creature; a very talented actress; she fascinates me. But as a singer? Sorry. She ain't no Maria Carey or k.d. lang. In fact, she's got a thin raspy voice, and can barely carry a tune, let alone hit the notes - but full marks to her for trying. She's very brave. I f were her I wouldn't publically cheapen what formibidable talents I already had, I'd just sing in the shower - with all doors and windows closed!!
