I have been in precision sheet metal for approx 18 years.I not working,not because i do not want to.I am unable to work as a production operator.i am hoping to find leadership opportunities or a chance to be trained in a new job. i live near dallas in the 75114 area.If anybody has any leads,let me know. The Video was excellent. I find that a lot of people lack the understanding that their resume must match the job description. They must learn jobs skills fast, online, books, take a class, download free software. They must get the necessary skills that are lacking on their resume and add it. I collected only 3 weeks of unemployment in 30 years of work. Three times I was laid off, I got a raise the very next week because I knew what the employeer was looking for.

WHat stupid advice. To prioritize means that you have SOME money. I've just gone 4 weeks with $6. California owes me $1269 unemployment that they aren't paying. It's an interstate claim, and they won't let you web cert.; They won't let you call in, and then they send the paper claims late to you so that you can''t file on time.

I'd like to find someone else who's sueing these bastartds.....

a lot of us are way beyond this point, sold assets, cashed in ins. the web is useless you pump out 100's of resumes and get back spam. all my old network channels are dry no one i know can help they are worried themselves. taking a $10hr job is useless you spend more than you make getting there. can't get support from anybody its like you have the plague if you don't have a job. eat better??? i can only afford 1 meal day. 1st time in my life thought about stealing for a living LOL WTF...

Finding a job depends on not being underqualiied, over qualified, and have the right personality and 'look'. It's a sales job to find a job. You have to meet the needs of the possible employer better than 150 other applicants.

Now, the way the economy is, it's important to network, and be open to putting yourself to some disadvantage (which others might not do.)

Sad news for people hoping that Obama will call a emergency session? of congress to consider a unemployment extension. In order for him to be able to do that the senate would have to not? have meet for at least three days. Guess what, I have been watching the Senate at senate.gov, and every three days they meet for a pro forma meeting which qualifies for a meeting, to prevent the president from calling a emergency session. Nothing gets done at these pro form sessions except planning.

Employers for the most part are fucking liars who try as hard as they can to block new people from coming into the industry, because they don't want to take the time to train you. If you're unemployed, they will tell you they understand your problem, but at the same time they'll hold your situation against you . They would only understand what a recession really feels like if they too became unemployed in their prime. Rejection is not a big deal.

I have an Accounting and Business Administration degree that I got in 1986 and cannot find a job. I have a plan and it did not work due to the REAL unemployment rate here in Oregon being at least 39%-50% or more because so many people have fallen off the roles here. 322,000 people here are out of work. I never after getting a college degree believed I had to go on welfare. After 120 interviews I cannot get work because I use a walker. There are NO jobs here. I look for a job every day.
