before the fires of august 27 this was considered a mega fire that burned about 300000 acres in agio (probably the worst of wildires in aigio and peloponissos even in decades even more dissastrus than the ones of summer 2000 in aigio and kiato) then in 24 of august 7 mega fires hit peloponissos (some of them merged) destroying 1.800.000 acres of forests and olives killing 70 people destroying more than 10 villages around 1500 homes...the forest returns

As a turk I always liked greeks, but after 50,000 people died in the earthquake in 1999 and it was greek people who offered help, I now love greeks and if anyone turkish says something stupid I will be glad to show pictures as a reminder

Romania is along side with you. On Monday 27 august 2007 the Ministery of Interior and Administrative Reform( MIRA) sent a MI 17 helicopter( crew: 9 persons) with modern equipement for the fight against wild fires.According to the press reales of MIRA this aid represents a proof of the good relations between our countryes. According to MIRA the helicopter will stay in Greece until the last fire will be extincted. I'm sorry for the victims. United we will win!

I'm a greek firefighter and since june i've been fighting forestfires every second day! Now,after a day off, i've been fighting fire continously for the last 4 days-nights and now they gave me a day off to rest. I've been crying all morning cause i feel guilty and so sorry i can't do more to help. I almost got burnt twice but i would change my life for those of the mother and her 4 children that got burned.This must be the closest thing to war.We do our best against well organised arsonists.
