I think he's WAY better than Karney's slow fat ass. Did you see him catch the ball at the line of scrimage and run in for the TD against Detroit. He looked more like a white beastly halfback than a fullback to me. He's a meathead and will make people wonder who to worry about on our saints #1 offense... Colston, brees, reggie, mike bell, pierre thomas, lance moore, robert meachem, ect, ect
he is whatever you want him to be. He can line up as a tailback and average 4 to 5 yards a carry, or simply just get the short yardage and goal line tough yards. He can be a fullback who is very good blocker, he could line up at tight end and either block or run a route and catch and he can play special teams. He ran a 4.56 out of college which is the average time for rb's out of college last year. Beanie ran a 4.58 and moreno a 4.62, except Evans is 250 pounds which makes him bigger and faster
Holy Jeepers, Batman!!! This dude is friggin' awesome!
I gotta say that I didn't know anything about him before he signed with the Saints. I couldn't believe they would cut Karney, but now I see why! This guy is a thoroughbred stud!
great vid i didnt kno he was a good fb i jus thought he was unheard of and that he was gonna be a crappy player but thanks for putting up dis vid know i know our running game only got stronger!
Evans isn't quite as good as Peyton Hillis though, Hillis is shifty as hell for a 250lbs RB. Hillis ran for 5 YPC last year and was only getting better running for 5.9 and 7.3 YPC in his last 2 games out of 3 1/2 games started last year. If the NFL would only allow smaller non-FB white RBs we would see the same results as w/ Hillis. It would be just like the old integrated NFL where whites showed they measured up fine as ball carriers before the FBS stopped recruiting them.
Evans ran his 4.56 at the NFL combine at 250 lbs. Only 7 tailbacks out of 32 ran below a 4.55 at the combine this yr and all that did weighed at least 15 lbs less than Evans. Last year the electronic average 40 time for tailbacks at the NFL Combine was exactly 4.56; the same as Evans. It is a complete myth that most tailbacks in the NFL run 4.3s and 4.4s. I would say even for the ones that "start" the median 40 time is about 4.5.
a two back set with reggie and evans would be unstoppable espescially with with either Henderson or Moore lined up as the number 2 receiver and Colston as the #1 and jeremy shockey at TE. It would be hard to stop, You dont know whether it would be a run or pass, whether heath or reggie will get the ball rushing, or if its a pass both can burn you with a pass in the flat
and it clears up that whole "we need a big back" thing, because heath evans has shown he can run with the ball. At 4.56 he is faster than Wells and Moreno.
he was just talking about his potential. Pierre Thomas cant go a whole season with 15+ carries every game, his body would not hold up, at least so far he has shown it will not hold up for a whole season with a bulk of the carries. I think carries should be split evenly between all 3, a 3 headed monster just like they had in new york. But the passing game favors Bush and Evans out of the backfield
BTW: Evans one game started in his career at tailback for the Pats he ran for 4.5 yards per carry. He can indeed be used as a one cut and go power-back in the NFL and could compliment Bush well in New Orleans if Sean Payton will actually dare to be unconventional to shake things up to use Evans this way. Give Mr. Evans 10-15 carries a game and Bush 12-20 a game coach Payton!
That run at 3:00 shows he has the agility to be a cutback power back in the NFL or at least a big part of a teams offense as a running FB. Evans ran a 4.56 at the NFL combine. Le'ron McClain had almost 1,000 rushing yards last year as a running FB for the Ravens and ran a 4.88 at the NFL combine. The NFL is indeed ridiculous by how they stereotype players. Basically all these runs were mop up carries at the end of games when the D knew it would be a running play making this fairly impressive.

fast for a halfback. He ran a 4.5 out of college, faster than some of the halfbacks that came out this year, Moreno, Wells etc.
