Matt Freeman is a hell of a bassist and this song doesn't show it. Playing fast is not hard, playing fast does not make you a good player (at any instrument). Knowing how to play stuff that fits into a song well, and is musically interesting makes you a good player. For best bassist, by which I mean "my favorite bassist" I'd go with James Jamerson.

The hardest part about the solo isn't the notes, but the speed. He uses a lot of open 1st and 2nd strings, making transitions between notes easier, so it's not entirely unbelievable that it can be learned fast. Still impressive.
