the police/fire/hospital service vehicles in my city are not allowed to use sirens unless 10 metres from a busy intersection because some old people passed a law to get there beauty sleep, so they are not to be disturbed by emergency vehicles trying to save lives.

Sounds like a possible job hazard. Imagine what it must sound like inside the police cars. Are there any precautions being taken to protect the hearing of the officer? Low frequencies are more damaging to the ears than high frequencies. Sounds disastrous.

I think this is a great idea especially for some of those idiots on sport bikes who put ear buds in so they can't hear anything, those are the guys who need to get pulled over for giving the rest of us bikers a bad name. as for the guy hating the police... I wonder where you would be if police weren't around... maybe 6 feet under something but who knows :P

Its a good idea. Considering how many people dont pay attention when they are fooling around with all the cool crap in their car. Phones, DVDs, Navigation Systems, Ipods, and all kinds of junk.
