  • These are amazing. I first discovered Cinemassacre clips because of Godzillathon. Now I'm watching these classic movies getting reviewed, and I am hypnotized. Awesome uploads.

  • The mummy looks kinda like Mr Bean.

  • I know the 1932 Mummy is critically superior, but I much prefer watching the "Kharis" series from the 40s--they're just more fun.

  • keep pressing 9... your ass

  • This movie (or, more specifically it's remake) is the only reason that numbnuts Stephen Sommers has a carreer. Or at least had. I hope had.

  • I'M SORRY I STOLE YOUR PROZAC

  • i prefer the 1932 mummy to the 1999 version

  • fun fact: this was the basis for the 1999 movie The Mummy and the princess has the same name

  • Just saw this for the first time, and I didn't really care for it.

  • THAT'S A RAP!

  • @ultimatesharpzilla I see what you did there.

  • Have you ever heard of Jonny Quest? Watch the episode curse of anubis, it has a big resemblence to the mummy

  • Anyone else think that the mummy looks kind of like House?

  • I'm using the extremely long arm of my Freddy Krueger figure to scratch my back. Aaahhh. Thanks Freddy. :)

  • Do you have to open graves to find girls to fall in love with?

  • stay away from mummies TWILIGHT!!!!!

  • @ken01ization

Sorry to bother you whats the twilight refrence?

i just like refrences and i would like to know :)

  • i like how a mummy with half the speed of a regular human kills people with his bare hands.

  • We don't see many mummies these days. It's all about vampires, werewolves, and zombies.

  • love this one and the remake

  • I got a big laugh @ 1:23.

  • They remade this movie.... ALSO by Universal.

    1999.

  • James has the most soothing voice of all time. Seriously, I could go to sleep just listening to the audio of his non-AVGN videos. :P

  • @stbeecher I feel the same way, he should be a audiobook narrator if he wasn't doing AVGN, he has such a great voice.

  • @stbeecher That happened to me once! I had this playing in a playlist and ended up falling asleep.

  • @stbeecher I don't think it's that soothing :P But that's just my opinion.

  • i kinda lost the plot somewhere, so the mummy was already revived through over half the movie, but he is in bandages only some of the time? showing the clips he seemed full of life and everything at the time, how did that happen?

  • OMG A MUMMY! LETS JUST STAND HERE AND BE SCARED AND LET HIM KILL ME!!

  • i don't get in some movies when a monster or somewone is chasing a person the person stops and lets himself DIE!!!!

  • QUICK C'MON, MAN- AH too late :/

  • i dont get how they never get away is it out of fear or what i mean seriously run like the fucking wind man hes dead already

  • Does anyone know who's face that is at the very end of these reviews?

  • 0:25 best reaction to a monster

  • I only got the remake of The Mummy.

  • That girl almost suffers "fall out"! LOL.

  • UYYYYYY! QUE MELLO.......

  • can someone pleeeeeeeeeeze post all of "THE SPIDER WOMAN STRIKES BACK" from 1946 ?

  • I actually took a trip with my family to universal studios Orlando recently and we decided to relax and watch the show they had there called "The Horror Make Up Show" it was very amusing for someone like me to see how my favorite genre comes to life I suggest everyone to check that out somehow

  • duh nvm haha you are the avgn

  • very good review and movie :)

you sound like the angry video game nerd lol

  • @KanonStrife he is the angry video game nerd

  • 0:45. reminds me of my cat. he gives the same look. love you Mr. Boris Karloff. thank you for video...

  • 2000's The Mummy with Brendan Fraiser is actually a loosely based remake.

  • @jinpayne wrong century man :P it is from the 1900´s (1999 to be precise)

  • 2000's The Mummy with Brendan Fraiser is actually a loosely based remake. It still has the sorta the same premise

  • 21 people didn't move their asses

  • @alcibiade666 Dont start that here.

  • The more recent version of this movie seems to be rather well followed upon this version...'cept the speaking thing...

  • i wish he had stated his opinons on the Mummy and the Mummy returns remakes.

  • Damn People stop repeating

  • i like this movie, but its not historically accurate. im doing research on this in my 7th grade class, and its completely different.

  • i ant tell which i like better the re make or this movie

  • First empalement ever in cinema ?

Why did it have to be a black skinned man ?

  • For anybody who's a fan of this film, watch "Svengali", from 1931. It's an old school movie and very creepy gothic love story. The title character is deliciously evil. It's a very well done film. Check it out.

  • The first Mummy movie was not much of a horror film. It was more like a supernatural love story.

  • I admit I have a hard time deciding which is the best Mummy movie? The Karloff definitely works because of its star, Lee's version has that same terrifying feel, and the modern ones with Brendan Fraser are more fun action-packed films. I guess that the Mummy is not one of my favorite movie monsters, but the films are still entertaining to watch.

  • It's kinda sad how mummy films though often successful on release never seem to generate as much fame as werewolf, vampire, Frankenstein, or haunted house films. I guess it's the lack of them that has something to do with it or the fact you can easily see them in a museum, but still. This combines all the best elements, themes, and hypnotic tones of Universal horror though. The Hammer version with Kharis is great too. The new one is okay but the sequels are bland and it lacks the horror tone.

  • there is a remake which has sequals

  • "Come On Move Your Ass, Can't Get Away From That Mummy?" LMAO

  • whats the two-deaded thing in the intro?

  • I only saw the MGM films with Brandon Fraiser. Then I saw this one, I saw resemblances between the two. I am kinda surprised you didn't mention them.

  • The original Mummy with Karloff as Imhotep is terrific, but I have to say that the Mummy's Hand with Tim Tyler as Karis is a firecracker of a horror/comedy as well. Its sequels with Chaney as Karis are uniformly awful, but "Hand" is every bit the classic that the first Mummy is.

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94 I think is from Army Of Darkness but still thts what I think

  • The Mummy is my favorite Classic Monster.

  • What did he say his name was in the movie "Horyce Bane" or something like that.

  • I thought he sounded fimiliar. It's the angry video games nerd!!

  • The 1999 Mummy was a great movie, but it's not really a remake. The 1931 version was a horror film and the newer one was much more of a action/adventure film. It's hard to compare the two. But, both of them are great viewing, for sure.

  • the people just stay their and die, they dont run they just die... da hell

  • I personally prefer the original Mummy and Wolfman to their remakes. Not that there wasn't originality or style in them or anything, but I found the style, suspense, acting, and tone just felt a bit stronger. What I love about them in the original is that they can just intimidate you by looking at you and being real quiet. They could show how powerful they are, but don't need to in order to be scary. The remake ones are just too open about how tough they are. Still I love the classic monsters.

  • Excellent video and narration! The best!

  • Mummies gross me out and give me disturbing thoughts.

  • This is my top Mymmy actor list:

    Boris Karloff (The Mummy 1932)

    Tom Tyler (The Mummys Hand)

    Christopher Lee (The Mummy 1959)

    Michael Mackay (The Monster Squad)

Arnold Vosloo (The Mummy 1999, The Mummy Returns)

    The Rock (The Mummy Returns)

Jet Li (The Mummy: Tomb of The Dragon Emperor)

Lon Chaney Jr. (The Mummys Tomb, Ghost, Curse)

  • @freddy3911

    2 more mummy actors:

Edwin Parker (Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy)

    Bob Ivy (Bubba Ho-Tep)

  • have the movie :D:P

  • James... you are a FUCKING genius, I love you men!

  • yeah, James knows fucking everything you need to know about video games & movies, I get half of my knowledge from him!

  • @BobaFettRules321 same here bro i got my interest for old games and shit from this man right here. half of the stuff he reviews i had no idea that they even existed. thanks james dude!

  • @ghostmex men huh...........

  • @ghostmex I'm sure you love men.

  • destroyah!!! will kill the mummy....

    destroyah!!!!!!

  • Karloff is still the best Mummy

  • @danielmkubacki For sure. The remake is way too long, but still ok.

  • 0:18

reminds me of the mystery science theatre 3000 title card

  • @SonicSnail95 actually, it reminds me of "The Flinstones" title screen. :D

  • wait. if the guys who buried the mummy were killed so to keep the location a secret ... wouldn't they have to kill the people who killed those people and so on and so on and so on ... ?

  • ROTFLOL!!!

its like you just see an ever expanding mountain of bodiesin the middle of egypt....

    XD

  • I'm sure what happened is that the soldiers who killed the diggers at Imhotep's grave were killed later on back at the palace.

  • no they wouldnt

  • ::Brain melts::

  • Yeah I get you're meaning. Although the Lee mummy was still named Kharis although he used a scroll in the movie while the Kharis Lon Chaney Jr. played was always looking for his tana leaves and after his love Ananka while Imhotep was after Anuk-su-namun in the remake and original. Yeah when it came to bandages Lee and Chaney were more mummy-like but something about the idea of a mummy being able to run around in public without being notioced is kinda creepy too. All are great though.

  • Lee's cool, but there was always something about Karloff I loved. He just had this atmosphere around him and he came on to me as an ancient undead figure (at least as well as an English actor could do with an ancient Egyptian accent). I think he, Lee, Lon Chaney Jr. and Vosloo all make great mummies for their times. If anything no one plays a better Frankenstein Monster than him. An inaccurate one from Shelley's novel, but he was still superb.

  • C'mon, move your ass, can't get away from that mummy? C'mon man! ...Aw, too bad...

XD That was exactly what I was thinking.

  • So this was the origanl mummy to the ones with brendin farser and the rock right? Sorry i can't spell shit right.

  • No you fool

  • the mummy has no sequals but it has a remake with 2 sequals

  • Nice vid

  • is the 199 movie a remake of this one?

  • in 1994 yes

  • the new ones blow horrendously.the new ones mean the ones with brendan fraser.

  • The first remake is pretty good, when you don't see it as a remake, the other 2 do suck

  • mummy remake kicks ass and ties this amazing horror classic

  • the first impalement was in "Intolerance" I guess.

  • damn these were good...............the remake fucking rox

  • "Come on, move your ass!" Always makes me laugh!

  • Never got to see the 50's remake, but I hope it's good. Alot of people seemed angry with Stephen Sommers for the latest remake. I don't think he was going for horror as muc has action based off horror. My problem with Sommers is he uses way too much CGI instead of trying more creative methods and should have left it with 1 and 2 only instead of the later films. It was good though. This was a classic however. Boris Karloff really cannot be equaled when it comes monster portrayals.

  • The description of this film as "a love story that has lasted a thousand years) is adequate. The plot of this film is an adaption (modernized, of course) of the Late Kingdom Egyptian fable, The Romance of Setna Khaemuas and the Mummies.

  • is also the newer mummy-film (with brandon fraser) a remake from this movie.

  • Yeah

  • what is that wierd 2 headed thing at the intro

    looks awesome

  • It's from one of the Evil Dead movies, Army of Darkness.

    XD

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94 that's ash from army of darkness when splits up into two different people:P

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94

    a 2 headed zombie?

  • It is from Army of Darkness, directed by Sam Rami.

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94 Im pretty sure it is ash from "Army of Darkness" where he ironicly doesn't speak the phrase, "Krato Verrada Nacto" correctly and has an evil half of himself literaly split from himself. cool movie. you should watch it. it is technicaly "Evil Dead 3".

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94, I think its the Manster. A half man half monster. One head is the man the other is the monster.

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94

thats from the movie army of darkness. its bruce cambell lol.

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94 Evil Dead 3

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94

its from evil dead 3 ^^

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94 its ash from the evil dead 3 army of darkness

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94 that a scene from a movie caled the army of darkness starring bruce campbell that scene he gets an evil clone that at first is connected to him like a siames twin

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94

its ash from army of darkness, the best movie ever lol

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94 in "Army of Darkness" one of ash's evil tiny clones get's inside of him and split's into evil ash. it's just evil ash splitting apart from him.

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94 Comedic horror movie Army of Darkness starring Bruce Campbell

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94 That's Ash Williams, the protagonist of the "Evil Dead" series, that escene is from the third movie of the series "Army of Darkness" when Ash is split in two, a good Ash and an evil Ash, and like you said the escene looks awesome.

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94 Ash in Army of Darkness (Evil Dead saga)

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94 SERIOUSLY!!!??? it's Ash and his evil twin from Army of Darkness (even though I'm sure enough people have told you that over the year :P)

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94 It´s a scene from "Evil dead 3 army of darkness"

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94

that's a scene from the movie, Army of Darkness. That's Bruce's character Ash, and the other head is Evil Ash

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94 its ash from army of darkness, he ended up swallowing a small evil version of himself and comes back out full size by coming out the side of his body

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94

    That's Army of Darkness :P

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94 ash and evil ash from army of darkness

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94 its army of darkness!!! the third part of evil dead !!!!!

  • @AngryMusicalSloths94 I think it's from Evil Dead.

  • wait a minute I didnt no the mummy 1999 was a remake, damn it still was a good movie

  • It wasn't exactly a remake. There were some similarities, such as the Mummy being Imhotep (who, incidentally, was not really a Pharaoh; he was the architect credited with inventing the pyramid), but this film focuses more on the Mummy's quest to revive his wife, wheras Fraser's is closer to Indiana Jones.

  • move your ass

  • yeah thats it, the director is now doing the G.I joe movie

well the suits gettign original idea aint gonan happen, they are now doing movies bassed on board games now

  • Board games? Seriously?

  • while ill liek to convince myself that im just pulling your leg, sadly im not, the suits of that place whos name i forget because it sucks but ends with wood have done a contract for 6 years of film hell to make films based on board games, startign with battle ship oh and monopoly is on that list

  • i do admit i like that lates take on the mummy film, cant remember who directed it or the main actors name thought but i think everyone knows the one i mean

  • You're talking about the 1999 movie with Brendan Fraser, right? It was pretty good back when I saw it in theaters, but I believe it's more of an action/adventure movie rather than a horror movie. With that said, these remakes are getting out of hand today. Hollywood needs to come up with some original ideas for once.

  • lol "move your ass, can't get away from that mummy?"

  • 1:23 "You're not so fast for a youngster!"

  • and of course you can't forget the 1999 remake, sure it was really CGI heavy but i thought Stephen Sommers upped the story pretty well...

  • that movie was bullshit

  • i remember watching the first one with my dad, it was sorta interesting, watching the black and white even though as a kid i had low interest on those

  • don't for get about Imoteph in 1999 "the mummy"

  • That was a remake, only an Action/Adventure, not a horror.

  • @GameSpoofer2 it did scared me when i was a little kid

  • Comment removed

  • I wish the remake had more horror.

  • yeah the remake was more of a thriller and action

  • where the f**k was the thriller? It was just an adventure flick.

  • This is a great list of horror movies! I do miss King Kong and The Invisible Man, which were released the same year. Maybe they'll make this years list.
