@MovieMentality As far as I am aware, you are able to install this with Lion. I was looking on Ebay and found a pretty cheap one (opposed to the $900 set that is) that a guy was selling and I myself have Lion so I asked him if you can install it and he did confirm that you can. You might want to contact Apple just to be 100% sure.

Technically, you can install it on as many macs as you like, but you can't run the software onto same network.

Hey, I have Final Cut Studio 2, but I do not have the discs to FCS2, just the programs on my Macbook Pro 17". I have 2 questions. 1, can I get the upgrade version still? and 2. will my Final Cut Pro 6.0 files be able to open in FCP 7.0?

This is a great option. This is pretty much the only way to get Final Cut Studio, which has to be on a Mac.

The MacBook Pro is the perfect computer for it.

I think you have have got some of your specs wrong.

Eg, no such thing as DDR4, yet (2012).

Yes, it will, but Color will NOT run, because you have the integrated 9400M graphics. Color requires a discrete GPU.

It is not Final cut studio 3 it is final cut pro 7 and Apple has made some changes to most of the studio, one very good change is in FCP 7 when you use slow motion below 50% it now does the frame blending in FCP 7, you no longer have to send you clip to Motion to frame blend, and YES it will and does run on an iMac, I run it on a 24" 2.8 duel core with 4gig of ram. You can also and curve at the start and end of the slow motion, I have just uploaded a demo of this feel free to have a look

visiobeer32, I actually just purchased a 2.93 dual 24" imac this past weekend. I am ordering Final Cut Studio 3 tomorrow. Mine also has 4 gig of ram. How does it run on the imac? I do HD video editing with the DVC-Pro HD codec. Just interested to see if I need to return my computer before the 30 days if final cut wont work really well. Let me know what you think.

I edit SD and HDV and my iMac 2.8 duel core has no problems, obviously if you add a lot of FX you will have a bit of render time, I have not used the DVC-PRO codec so I can not comment on that, What edit program are you use to?

I have Final Cut Pro 6 and never had to send my clips to Motion when slowing down more than 50%. I've slowed it down to 1% in Final Cut and it worked GREAT.

The new final cut studio 3 is a disappointment (i had the fcs2 full version and went for the 300 dollar upgrade). 300 dollars down the drain. This is a horrible upgrade it should have been free for final cut studio 2 users. There are almost no new things in motion, and the final cut basically only added some new pro res formats. Not worth it at all.

yes they will i am going to run final cut studio on my imac 24 inch i just maters how much ram you have because final cut is like a 60 gb's app so it takes some space up so i think you'll be fine.

Uhhhh NOOO. Well motion and color will not install (and if you hack it to install) it will run like shit. I have fcs3 on my 8 core mac pro and with motion (with lots of layers) sometimes crashes when working with hd. On my macbook motion will open and then crash (same with color). Plus exporting a 7 minute hd piece on a mac pro takes about 9 minutes and takes my macbook 2hrs 15 minutes.
