Thtat's odd that people don't get this? Teaching someone how to use a knife is wrong? It's part of the Fillipino culture you moron. Was wrong to teach a sword in a Samurai art? Or a staff in Kung Fu? As far as if it really works I would say yes. Fillipinos are the best with Knives/ sticks. Koreans are the best kickers, kenpo has the best hands, The Japanese are the best grapplers (now BJJ does very well too), all opinion but a pretty common opinion.

instead of pinning the arm against the body where the main arm can still attack with the knife. Grab the arm spin it underneath towards your middle and down then stab at the throat or use a "waki-gatame" variation to pin your opponent to the ground. (you need to block with the other hand for waki)
yes many counters for both guys! It is to train some extra reaction if the guy is good enough to get the trap. It can be useful at times but it is only a drill.
Ummmm...... I think I 'll stick with Folsom style. Nice to see what other people think of knife fighting though. Good luck on your training.

Get foam weapons and actually try the move. This would be very hard to pull off without getting your own ass stabbed.
