@j3sus2468 First, what gaming system? Second, have you earned them yet? 1. For xbox/ps3, press triangle/Y to switch to your secondary weapon. 2. If you have earned them, go to customise menu and select heatseekers for the jets.

brake in the air, then use after burner to do a reverse of the brake turn. it allows you to do donuts

great tip for the fast turns, I've done it a couple of times without noticing, but I kept being taken out by guys using this and I thougth it to be impossible. Now we will see who the better pilot really is I guess :)

@NathanJuK101 That's the F-35 (?). New to the mappack, it's basically a Harrier (Think it uses the Pegasus engine) so I heard you use the Afterburner key for it (I play XBOX so it could be diffrent). Normal fighters dont do that.

I notice my missiles often fail to hit a lot of pilots. Are they just using airbrake? If so, how can they continuously dodge my missiles after dumping all their speed?

Also, any advice on how to get laser guided missiles to hit more often? It seems like a lot of times they just detonate on the ground. Is it from popping smoke? Or do you need to release right before you pass the target?

Absolutely fantastic tutorial. I found myself falling to these maneuvers -ALL- the time, but couldn't figure out how they were turning so fast...

I would always just brake and keep turning, but this makes a lot more sense. THANKS!

That little "throttle brake throttle" thing is definitely going to help me I mean i'm able to fly enough to stay in the air for long periods of time, but damn I suck when it comes to dogfighting & dodging missiles.

Which is sad because to unlock flares & things you have to at least kill something (or assist in some way) so, i'm going to try that throttle technique out.

Im such a noob, before this, i just kept the throttle on the whole time xD

I don't understand the reason for the first throttle... since jets, like cars, have a better turning cycle when they go slower, so it only makes sense for you to use the "brake" and turn, but whatever :D

@DavySigfusson The first throttle he is reffering to is the throttle you're using to move forward. At least that's how I took it.

You're probably going to hit the throttle to keep up with your opponent, and then to turn, you brake, then when you come out of the turn, you hit the throttle again.

Much like driving a car.

The stingers aren't really overpowered , in reality 1 stinger is enough to shred a aircraft ( im aware games arent realistic always and mostly are not) Just saying perhaps Dice decided to try making it similar. Plus its a very short locking range for the stingers. It takes 3 shots to destroy , 2 to disable , so it's not that bad but this is just my own opinion. For helios Bf3 has totally changed them and stingers vs helios are O.p which ill admit.

@killerdead77 Yes, parachutes are either automatic, or activated by hitting A, depends, haven't used it much in BF3, but yeah, you do have one.

In fact one of the coolest techniques to kill an enemy jet, is to eject, hit the 'chute and lock onto him with a rocket launcher.

Its better to go low and out of line of sight for stingers, I've found. You have to be a really good pilot, but weaving in and out of trees 10 feet from the ground works wonders with losing locks.

I think about 280-300 speed is optimal for turning. and then just boost back up to 400 when you need it.

Nice tips. This is my first game on PC and I was trying to fly with keyboard and mouse but I sucked! I plugged in my wired xbox 360 controller and instantly flew like a pro, love it. Just unlocked the guided missiles which are fun for bombing runs, And quite often I've done that manoeuvre and you hear a bang behind you and a suicide message of the pilot chasing you. Soo fun.

So you are using the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro? I have the same stick, but it is impossible to aim with it. In my game, I experience huge "dead zones" on any axis of the stick. By the time the jet responds to my movement, I'm almost halfway in any direction on the joystick axes, so the plane ends up jerking sharply. Moving the stick 2-3 degrees in any direction does not register any input or movement of the jet whatsoever. It's really frustrating. Do you have the stick set up in a certain way?

@Ryz0n89 Bad Company 2 had this problem with dead zones I believe. They were very large. It wasn't until a month or two after the launch that Dice released a patch that allows for adjusting the dead zones for joysticks to fix this issue.

Jets are geared towards consoles (not being PC fan-fag), the mouse movement is laboured even at high sensitivity. Using my Xbox 360 wireless controller on PC = easy to fly.

I'm not sure you're right about when one should deploy flares; the solid beeping sound indicates that an enemy has successfully locked onto you, but that does not necessarily mean that he has fired his missiles yet. You'll know that missiles are tracking you by a different sound altogether; it's high-pitched and beeps more quickly.

@KiranStevens Yes, very high sensitivity would work. But it would take allot of getting use to. You could try switching from high sensitivity to maneuver and then slow sensitivity to lock onto someone :)

@devsain It's just easier to switch from mouse to the arrow keys when you need to do tighter turns and back to the mouse for aiming. That way you are still able to do tight accurate turns and have precise aiming with the mouse when it is needed.
