Dear Kiribula.. no Vicky Pollard here. Tis a shame that you think I am some uneducated idiot just because of my views. I am not saying its not 'pretty' but the amount of bullsh@t that accompanies it must be HUGE to justify such a 'Wallpaper' being given the Turner prize. To me the Turner Prize celebrates great works of art that are more than 2 dimensional in approach & meaning. Alas, the 'art critics' feel that this is such work..not the opinion of all. Learn how to take and use criticism.
Aninhas1979, The Turner Prize is not meant to bring, use or reproduce Turner's work, it actually only has its name because of being one the most representative collection of a British art in, and as you may know, Tate Britain, plus funds and presents the Turner Prize every year. This prize is for CONTEMPORARY British artists and it wouldn't have any sense to emulate any work from Turner. You should know that.
Are some British forgetting who where the pioneers of their "National/Cultural/Treasure?" , or are them just using their name to make money, "rubbering down" their real importance, everything they did? RESPECT, for God sake!
I know should be a "little bit" difficult for who do not understand about Visual Art I believe...
What do you know about Turner's Life and Art Work?
...AS MY STUCKIST COLLEAGUE CHARLES THOMSON OBSERVED WHEN HE SAW RICHARD WRIGHT WORK IN THE TATE' It's not art; it's wallpaper! AND NOW I ASK? DID TURNER DRAW AT LEASTWALLPAPER PATTERNS IN HIS LIFETIME?
NOW I OBSERVE " The attribution of the Turners Prize to Richard Wright work is pathetic, just if me and Charles are wrong and Turner in really did wall patterns in his lifetime... As an Artist?!
im surprised the stuckists arent in support of wright, considering he's one of the few artists in the running to create something high on visual impact and low on embarrassing pseudo-intellectual waffle. to state that it's not art belies a shamefully regressive ignorance and stubborn insistence to hate anything connected to the turner prize. for once, something has won on the back of its visual merit, thats a good thing!
@yipmaster not sure about the waffle bit, but Wrights work is based on a lot of "intellectual" art theory, what with the temporality of the work being a main feauture of his work and its reaction to space etc.
His work is subtle, beautiful, and often ephemeral because he draws and paints abstract designs directly onto gallery walls. When the show closes, they are painted over
Clearly a major response to Wright's work is the aesthetic experience it evokes... it's a pity that few of the people interviewed could describe that experience in terms more specific than "beautiful" or "nice."
Is that the wallpaper my Nan used to have in her toilet?
Makes my effort and techniques pointless if this is the kind of pointless stuff that wins. Bangs goes all those years at Uni. All I needed was a can of gold paint and a big dollop of bullsh*t. Silly me

He insists that after an appointed viewing time, it must all be painted over again. "This work is not for the future; it's for now," he says
