One of which is that, even if there were a divine creator, there is no more or less proof of it being the Judeo-Christian deity than there is for any other mythical creator ever conjured by man. Many things which man *has* been able to undoubtedly discover have been in direct conflict with 'facts' promulgated within the texts of various theological doctrine. I was Christian for 20 years, and upon learning of some of these, I couldn't do it.

The idea that we are in control of our own lives, and that this life is limited, means that we may have quality over quantity, if you will. For any of you non Christians who don't believe in the miracles of Jesus, i wish you could understand spanish and watch "enlace tv" and watch miracles done by Jesus through Christian pastures like Cash Luna on a daily basis exactly like it says in the bible. It's amazing I just met one of them recently . I'm new to Christianity and every week I learn new things about God and how the spiritual world works. This reminds me of some of my friends who are baptists and who they "prove" that their God exist simply by naming some miracles they've been told by their manipulating pastor.They actually say that a book(Bible) represents proof that God exists.I still remain baffled how people in the 21st century can believe in such crap.It's no wonder that we are not contacted by alien beings.If they see the thinking behind the Christian faith they would back away disgusted and in disbelief.

@luyben12 The thing i have come to realize over the past few months is that about 93% of earth is theist because a very long time ago, People turned to religion for answers to questions they couldn't answer on their own. They also used religion as a set government power. Now we have science to explain EVERYTHING. At least don't be so close minded and consider the possibility of everything being explained through modern science, not a fictional story book written a long time ago.

For arguments sake, let us say that I am wrong when I say that all living creatures are connected. If I use that thought as a reason to have compassion for all creatures, and to strive for humans to just work together for the betterment of all regardless; does that mean I deserve hell just because I can't believe?

@luyben12 I have read the entire bible cover to cover, and if Satan is death than God is Death^3 (and I am being generous with that one, it is probably more like DEATHx10^100). Also, my niece wasn't here proofreading my comment so she was not exposed to the word FUCKING. Even if she was, our family does not make a big deal about words whether they be FLOPPY TITS or RAINBOW since they are just words. I too believe in miracles. But I do not believe in the same miracles people believed in 500 years ago. Why? Cause science has revealed many answers which explain many miracles. However, science also reveal many new questions which we have no idea how to answer.

@getabible I admire your resolve, but I must respectfully inquire as to what thoughts you must have on all of the men and women who have managed to live quite devout, disciplined lives, and who have personally attested to having had transcendental experiences while being a member of a faith other than your own. Barring atheism, what would you have to say regarding their experiences? Presumably, you would say that there is only one way to the father, and that is through Jesus Christ?

@getabible The reasons we reject it are numerous. One of which is that, even if there were a divine creator, there is no more or less proof of it being the Judeo-Christian deity than there is for any other mythical creator ever conjured by man. Many things which man *has* been able to undoubtedly discover have been in direct conflict with 'facts' promulgated within the texts of various theological doctrine. I was Christian for 20 years, and upon learning of some of these, I couldn't do it.

@getabible And with all due respect, Mr. Bible, that is simply where people on your side of the fence and people who subscribe to secular philosophy differ. The idea that we are in control of our own lives, and that this life is limited, means that we may have quality over quantity, if you will. To us, the idea that we should worship on earth now, so that we might make it to heaven, where we can worship forever, is more akin to slavery. It would be denial if that's why we rejected it, though.

@getabible Based on this definition of atheism, there really is no 'dogma' to learn, no tenets to adhere to. It's 'how' we think, not 'what' we think. The idea that an atheist might not 'know what he believes' seems obscure to me. It's rather that an atheist knows what he doesn't believe, I feel. It's more reductionist than anything. Very simple. If you have specific examples to give me which support the statement of "didn't know what they believe," I would appreciate the elucidation.
