  • @C2209w

We are not separated. One day ukraine will have it's own church, and this one will just reunite with Ukrainian Orthodoxy. We cannot be separated If we were never together.

  • WHY ARE WE SEPARATED?

Our ancestors had their reasons or they thought so, but we??

We have neither reason nor justification before the Face of the Almighty!!

His judguement, as a result of this, will be of doubled severity for us, Western and Eastern Churches of the XXI century.

  • The questions on this page are funny to me becuase my father was Ukrainian Greek Catholic and my mother was Irish Roman Catholic and she raised us Irish in the Roman Church. My sisters and I had no inkling that churches could be Catholic and not Romanized when we were much younger. And it just so happened that my father didn't go to communion frequently at our Western rite parish, so my sisters and I would huddle together and say "Dad's not Catholic, he's Orthodox!". LOL

  • Can somebody help me? Is Greek Orthodox different from Greek Catholic? if so, is Greek Catholic Church in communion with the Pope in Rome?

  • Yes indeed. Both Eastern and Western rite catholic are in communion with rome, however orthodoxy doens't recongnize the pope but still has full apostolic succession.:)

  • Greek Catholics are in communion with Roma

  • yes greek orthodox is different from greek catholic, but have simillar liturgies (byzantine style).

  • This is so beautiful! Why doesn't the Latin Church love their traditions like you do? The Greek Catholic Divine Liturgy is more beautiful than the current Latin Church Mass. Thank you!

  • This liturgy looks much like the Traditional Tridentine latin Mass.. I worship in RC SSPX church and i noticed similarities.... Deo Gratia,,

  • Can a Roman Catholic recieve the sacred mysteries in Eastern Catholic Churchs?

  • Yes. Eastern Catholic is still Catholic.

  • which village is this?

  • Excellent.

  • iv only been to the greek catholic masses in greece but this is very simular

  • I belive those are Eastern Orthodox.

  • There are Greek Catholic churhces is Greece. Not many, but there are.

  • My family is Greek Catholic my Grandmother always went to these things

  • I have a friend who is Ukrainian Catholic. This is an Ukrainian Catholic Divine Liturgy. The rite used is Byzantine Rite. There are 5 families of rites in the Catholic Church & about 21-22 sui iuris Churches that make up the Catholic Church. The Roman Catholic Church is only 1 part of Catholic Church. Most of it is Latin Rite, but there is also Ambrosian (Milan) & Mozarabic (Toledo) Rites that make up a part of it.

  • I am also Ukranian Catholic!!!

  • Where are the men?

  • I'm suprised that the camera man (as he would have to be a man) was allowed behind the iconostasis to film.

It is Orthodox because of the way the priest crosses himself.

BTW, that is one loud congregation!

  • The Priest Ihor is a dear friend of mine that Inivted to Video a mass. I was really suprised to go into chamber myself it was a real treat to share this Intergaral Part of Village life you can see more Ukraein Village life at www.bystiv.com

  • I've been to many Ukrainian Catholic masses (Divine Liturgy), and this defiantely looks to be one. I especially like how everything is sung; it makes it so much more beautiful than a regular Roman Catholic Mass

  • Greek Catholic

  • this is an orthodox mass not catholic!

  • Um...your argument is invalid when you use the term "Mass" to describe an Orthodox Divine Liturgy!

P.S. This is definitely a Ukrainian Greek (Byzantine) Liturgy.
