  • Nostalgia within nostalgia. Nostagliaception?

  • I hate when people are always downing 90s music. It is better than all this pop and rap crap these days. 90s had the most soothing, relaxing, and meaningful music ever created. The modern "trend" is a bunch of completely meaningless songs created in ten minutes and all the singers have to use autotune in order to sound somewhat good while singing. Fastball's singer has a truly amazing voice, something very rare these days.

  • been hearin this for years in stores ,finally found it :)

  • Of course, this YouTube video is not the "original" version. You have go to

[they won't let me give the link]

Anyone can see that the road

they walked on is paved with

    gold

    It's always summer

    They'll never get cold

    They'll never get hungry

They'll never get old and gray

  • Love the words

  • I miss singing this on my rooftop

  • this is not the original and it makes me sad

  • And that last comment was specifically regarding Fastball's "The Way".

OK, Hey, Don't like?--So, go hit the Highway.

Leave it for us all to say, what's the best, or nay.

We can grieve when it seems lost for us -- but we can't allow it to rust....

must keep it all for the magic to go beyond today.

Never give in, never give up; don't leave it to useless puppets, to make the decide...deciding way. Not today, not today...

  • Youn have to know what this song is all about. Go to Google. It was about an old couple that picked up and just drove into a ditch. Story in Texas newspapers.

"Anyone can see that they road they walk on is

    Paved with gold...

    It's always summer

    They'll never get cold

    They'll never get hungry

They'll never get old and gray"

  • When you've got it-you've got it!!!!These dudes wrote one heck of a tune. Love it!

  • Great song

  • Was I out of my head? Was I out of my mind?

  • @scrat4all you rock old man!

  • Hanson032... Me too!! Lol... Facebook makes it a smaller world.. ;)-

  • michelle branch brought me here :)

  • I miss fastball

  • thankyouthankyouthankyou!! i forgot about this song <3

  • 65 people were out of their mind

  • One of my favourite songs in the world. Up there on my list with Kashmir - Lampshade and Radiohead - Polyethylene. I'm such a teen of the 90's.

You all need to chill with the whole TODAS MUSIC IS SHIT arguments. It's not true. There are some great bands about and rising even these days even if you have to dig a little to find it. Just makes it that much more special when you bump into a good band.

  • I logged in just to give Darx94's comment a well earned thumbs up

  • Fastball is one of the greatest bands to ever come from the 90s, if not one of the greatest bands ever!

  • Well scrat4all, i'm right behind you, i love this too!!

  • @MrChuckles1945 Well, Mayer's a bit more mellow than these Austin boys

  • this is a beautiful song.. too bad it only has one verse, with 3x the chorus

  • Music. 'Nuff said.

  • The only problem with this song is that it's too short.

  • i want screamo, don't give me pop shit

  • @gensterize You're quite ignorant of music if you think this is pop. But that was already obvious by your taste for the bullshit that is screamo.

  • @TonySkullz for him no screaming = pop hahaha

  • @gensterize Screamo is shit.

  • @gensterize then why are you here??

  • ruby.....

  • I just realized how much the lead singer of Fastball sounds like the lead singer of Building 429. Listen to this Building 429 song and compare: /watch?v=6TifjgRgs5U

  • Why is there such an anti-Beiber movement? If you don't like don't listen to him. He has just as much right to make music as you have to listen to it. Just be glad we have the freedom to express ourselves and listen to music without restriction.

  • Hey guys! Im ____(insert random age between 11 and 17 here) and i listen to this music cus i hate my generation's music!

  • I'm 15 and this song came on the radio and it made me cry, lol. Is that weird? Yeah it is but whatever.

  • @XXsavieXX It's not weird at all. Don't fight it :) I cry from songs quite often and I'm a 20 year old dude haha. Music is a beautiful thing that can bring emotions out of a person they didn't know they had. In your case, this song most likely reminded you of a fond memory, perhaps subconsciously, and it made you cry either of sadness or of happiness. It's moments like that which remind us we are ALIVE. Music is the single man-made thing that exists in this universe that we can be proud of! :)

  • but it was hard to find...

  • Hey kids,

I've got a brand new record called "These Ghosts Have Bones".

You can find it on i-tunes and Amazon.

    Thanks for listening.

    -MIles Zuniga from Fastball.

  • great song, the guitar solo is lovely

  • yeaa :) that neat clean bluesy twang.. sweet. @Intheflesh44

  • Oh please, quit whining about this generation of music sucking, blahblah.

Archies, Bread, Europe, Cinderella, Backstreet Boys. All generations have their shitty music. It's your own damn fault that all you listen to is kiss fm. Especially nowadays with the internet. So much music out there to discover.

  • @electricpastry

Cinderella - Nobody's Fool is an awesome song and The Final Countdown is pretty kickass also.

  • @dynelol Point made.

  • @electricpastry amen! finally someone who gets it!

  • there a bluesy content on the piano? Agree??

  • IF YOU'RE SAD, IT'S TIME YOU SPOKE UP.

  • Very beautiful song.

  • You know how people are always saying their generation's music is better than the current one? I really don't want to see the day when people say "What happened to the good old days of Kesha and Justin Bieber?" I didn't want to use Bieber in this comment, but he really is the best example of this.

  • @Darx94 thanks for depressing me.... you dick

  • @Darx94 you hit it right on the nail. those days are gonna be bad. i wont say that though. even though i am this generation, and kesha and bieber are todays music, I'm not going to say that. despite the fact that i wasnt born then, ill be saying, "What happened to the good old days of the beatles, red hot chili peppers, and coldplay?" I'll raise my kids to do what they want, and not go along with the system :)

  • @Darx94 people dont even say "remember the good old days with justin timberlake and britney spears"

  • @Darx94 If music gets WORSE than kesha and bieber, please kill me.

  • @mayhempk1backup1 Baby Bieber is not much different than little Michael Jackson. Watch for the change, now that BB is 17+ Maybe he will control his own life--see something different than an imitation of Leif Garrett.

  • @scrat4all might even dye his skin black and get plastic surgery to make his nose wider and his hair more bushier. think they call it a negro plasty

  • @Darx94 Good music still exists, the industry just can't find most of it. People don't hitchhike enough nowadays to know anything about good music anyway. Not literally, but, I'm sure someone gets it. lol

  • @Darx94 Yeah, but people may reminisce for bands like Deer Tick, Sleigh Bells, Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem, MGMT... You get the point. Music is still good, I think all this Independent production has just made pop music obsolete to real music lovers.

  • @Darx94 yeah. but i think this generation's justin bieber and kesha are the boybands, britney and other pop acts. There still are good bands out there that produces good music. :D

  • @Darx94 I agree, though hopefully people will look back on the better music- and say things like "What happened to the good days of Radiohead and The Strokes?"

  • @Darx94 Music is one hundred percent preference. Just because you don't like Lady Gaga doesn't mean she isn't talented, and all-though it's hard for me to say this, same goes for Justin Beiber. And as far as who's going to be remembered from this current time, Adele, Mumford and Sons, Eminem, Linkin Park, etc.

  • @Darx94 Well the reason people like to think like that is because time weeds out all the stuff that doesn't hold up after a few years. That's why people remember of Led Zeppelin and not Leif Garrett. That's why people think fondly of Nirvana and not Vanilla Ice. I think 10 years from now, people will think of Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Muse, The Killers etc. while Justin Bieber will just be an afterthought. Hell, the only reason he's still around now is because haters won't shut up about him.

  • i remember this song so much.

  • Hey, kiddos, I'm 65 and I love this stuff. Vietnam Vet.

  • @scrat4all I am 44 and i like it too.

  • @scrat4all GOOD MUSIC HAS NO AGE LIMIT!

  • @scrat4all

yeah well im like 200 and drunk as fuck,.

  • @scrat4all keep being awesome

  • @scrat4all Thank you for serving. And this is great music.

  • Melody and progressive chord changes make a great song like this ...

  • I love this song!

  • good music will never die!one just needs to pick up an instrument and JAM:}

  • damn! I love this song!

  • OMG... I just heard this for the first time in YEARS earlier today. Memories. :D

  • ah, yes. memories. the 90's weren't that bad afterall.

  • This song is good and all, but why didn't they had a second verse? It would be way better, longer, and just sound better imo.

  • @silentyp3 2:29 was enough for them to say what they wanted to say. It just means you can hit the replay button more times in a 24-hour period than most other songs

  • i was waiting for an indication

  • sounds just like dear god by avenged sevenfold

  • @guitarplayer89100 they do sound similar but are also very different. But I'd say Dear God by Avenged Sevenfold sounds like Out of my head by fastball not the other way around, since this is older.

  • @biglc03 no shit i was trying to make a point dumb ass everybody knows this song was out first

  • @guitarplayer89100 Yes, it's true. But this song is earlier ...

  • When listened Charene sings 「I've Never Been To Me」 ,reminds this song.

    Which song beautiful melody.

  • this song makes me feel old...incredible song but I just think about the crazy times i had in the 90's when i hear it.

  • one of the most understated songs of music history. "Sometimes I feel like I am drunk behind the wheel. . . the wheel of possibility however it may roll." The imagery, the symbolism, the lyricism! Modern music might contain similar traits but they're all about sex, not about real life. One of the last few songs that relates to teenage angst and the struggle for self-definition.

  • song makes me sad why was i such a bad brother

  • amo questa canzone

  • LOVE Fastball. Got to meet 2 of the guys at a concert they did years ago! Great guys! I have their first cd too, I got it after hearing this song on Dawson's Creek. Good times!

  • No more 60's, no more 70's, no more 80's, no more 90's, welcome to the 21st century...fuck.... I hope music will get better....

  • dear 1990s: we miss you.

  • maybe if we can get back in that same mindset we were in back then we could all feel that amazing meloncholi vibe that the 90s had. if this makes any sense to anyone but i feel like were gonna be back in it some day we were deffinataly on to something back then but it got distorted along with the industry and the government and everything eles that could possibly go wrong but i have a really good feeling that well get it back its almost the same feeling i had back then so... something wil happen

  • @MrLetsdothisthang so true dude...the 90s were amazing..

  • i miss loser :'(

  • This song reminds me of loser :>

  • this song was epic... I was just 11 when I first heard and loved this song... now im 25, whhhoooaa its still is the best and good as new... I would never trade this song with the modern garbage playlist...

  • @zyroyan

Yea man. I was 11 when I first heard this too. Re-found thie little gem again.. memories..

  • sometime I feel,, naon eta anu nyempil...

  • i so love this song.

  • omgggg this is so nostalgic.

  • I haven't heard this song in at least 5 years... And I still remember every word.

  • Am i the only Butthole that thinks the singer looks like a mix between Paul Mccartney and the dude from Plain White Tee's?

  • its 2011 time to quit bitching about mainstream music and what you want to hear not being on the radio. BUY AN IPOD AND LISTEN TO THE MUSIC YOU WANT TO

  • this song is so short, but it's good.

  • This reminds me of the Beatles.

  • Comment removed

  • one of the best songs of the 90's

  • Thanks for the memories of smoking weed and drinking cheap beer singing your song, cruze'n around Marshvagas! Love you losers!

  • There's still good music going around today but nothing mainstream. you gotta dig deep for the good shit.

  • @Cqinz For realz. It's such a shame, the radio is dominated by Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and that skank bitch Kesha. Mainstream is such garbage nowadays.

  • @GrizzlyBeardz Mainstream music has ALWAYS been garbage, remember the 90s? Backstreet boys, Nsync, 98degrees, all of the bands like Mr President, Culture Beat... yeah those were there too. Stop complaining about bad music, and just listen to what you like..

  • 58 people don't love good music

  • I can't believe I got to see this band last night for free in Charleston, WV. Best. Free. Concert. Ever!

  • This song screams "My childhood" in my head

  • modern songs are rubbish xD

  • guy at 0:23 looks like snape

  • This song remind me when I was younger and the band is one of my fav. bands ... Still! :)

  • the sound of this reminds me so much of my childhood. Now 5....lol

  • Fastball gives me some incredible nostalgia. Back in the day when these guys were a big deal I was just a little kid and had my entire youth ahead of me. But an entire lifetime has left me as a bitter, cynical college kid :P

  • This song brings back such great memories - Fastball FTW.

  • @hojiggy hopefully you die

  • @OhFerr Your dumb...

  • @OhFerr Hey, where did your stupid comment go? awwww shoot it's gone, such a shame (but not really)

  • 58 viewers mean to do bad things to you.

  • 1:09 to 1:11 is now the official dance to this track.

  • amazing song... i love when my ol man sings this to me... melts my heart =)))

  • amazing song... i love when my ol man sings this to me... melts my heart =)))

  • im in love with music from the 90s 80s and i wasnt even born yet, times changed

  • So this is how it feels like when older people used to say they miss the 70's or 80's... except i'am missin the 90's..

  • @Lannd84 Lol don't say that it makes me feel OLD!

  • @Unknowntruth84 RIGHT!!!!

  • Each time I hear this I recall the week long cross country trip my family took when I was ten. It was the best and longest time I ever spent in a ford aerostar.

  • this song is awesome

  • In hindsight, when listening to music from the 90s, it really puts into perspective how much of today's music is just complete garbage.

  • @Sarevok74979 I'm sure that's what people will be saying in the next decade too. haha.

  • @Sarevok74979 theres also alot of music that is great

  • @Sarevok74979 Back in the 90s, we said the same thing when listening to music from the 70s.

  • @JohnMcD19 was just thinking your exact comment while watching this vid!!!!! *goosebumps*

  • @Sarevok74979 dude we were seperated at birth... I feel the exact same way. today music= absolute garbage

  • @Sarevok74979 All music genre's have their up and downs. I couldn't listen to this before football game like I could today's music. I do love this song, but there's no need to troll every other kind of music.

  • @Sarevok74979 lol we're getting old....

  • @Sarevok74979 People like you bother me, there is tons of good and talented artists making good music right now. You just don't look further than pop or the radio and label music today as garbage.

Also a lot of people thought 90's music was garbage in the 90's but all of sudden 10 years after the 90's they like it.

Give it 10 years, this decades music will be a part of history whether you like it or not.

    Good day.

  • @Sarevok74979 HELL YEA MAN

  • @Sarevok74979 good music died the day layne staley died

  • @Sarevok74979 listening to music from the 70's and 80's made people say the same thing back in the 90's. Fun to see things revolving.

  • @Vinomadd I'm 24, was only three when the 80s ended... and I ab-so-LUTELY agree with you. It's been the same way since the 50s... well, probably forever to be honest. Every previous generation believes the next generation's music is garbage. Me? I like Diana Ross just as much as I like Depeche Mode just as much as I like Dave Mathews just as much as I like The Darkness. Music is my passion... doesn't matter what year the damn song came from...

    ... :^)

    Peace.

    - $hane

  • @shanomacbry

im glad your so open but i half disagree with you. im 40 and when i was 12 i loved music from the 50's thru 70's.

grew up in the 80's and i have to say todays music is filled with hate and a me generation that feels the world owes them everything. once ina blue moon a ray of hope will shine thru but other than that i feel this generation lost out and so did i.

  • @Sarevok74979 It seems it gets worst every decade :-)

  • Love that drum.

  • I still can't believe I searched for the name of this so long, but the memories it brings back are worth it.

  • @peaveysteve: It's funny, because whenever I hear the song, it reminds me of Elvis Costello.

  • @tazcivic me too! In fact, I happen to hear the song on an internet radio station back in the day (!!), and totally thought it was Elvis!

  • The melody in this song always reminds me of Peter Frampton. Everytime.

  • a can of beer and this song....brings me back in time!!!!cheerzzz

  • fuck the only Fastball song I used to know was the Way........now I am looking up all their other songs..and realised I MISSED OUT

  • Really lovely song,,,

  • back to days where i loved music... thx for the wonderful upload

  • still good in 2011 :)

  • @milsum88 better comment than askin if you're listening to it in 2011.

  • @milsum88 They sure are.

  • Damn this came out when I was in 2nd grade lol

  • i was born in '96 but yet i knew this song for so long that it brings back memories

  • 26/03/1988 thats my birthday!

  • This is one of the best songs of the 90's and it rarely gets played or even remembered. Sirius/XM 90's on 9 only plays The Way, they never play this song even though I love this song.

  • Raped the replay button ;3

  • 90's music was the shit of any genre #real.talk.ya.pricks
