Where the ohmmeter is being set to the 'beep' setting, is this simply testing continuity? My multimeter doesn't have any 'beep' settings for the ohmmeter, but it sounds like what's being tested here is simply continuity (which my multimeter has a separate setting for, which _does_ beep).
Great videos, thanks. But I've still got a Kenmore 90 dryer which turns but no heat. I checked for 220v (good) and checked: the heateing element (good);hi limit thermostat (good), the i limit fuse (bad), cycling thermostat (good) , thermal resistor (good). I replaced the bad fuse and w/in minutes it had gone out again. What am I missing?
I have tested all the elements you suggested for continuity and they all check good. I double checked my house breaker panel and it is good. I still have NO HEAT!
This is an excellent video. This keeps you from blindly replacing parts. With the help of this video, and a test meter, I was able to determine that my high limit thermal fuse was the cause of my dryer's heat loss. Thank you for making this video.

Great video! But I still have a problem. Before I fork out a wad of cash to my friendly neighborhood appliance repair man, I was hoping you might be able to help me further. I have tested all the elements you suggested for continuity and they all check good. I double checked my house breaker panel and it is good. I still have NO HEAT! the rest of the dryer works well. It is still a pretty young dryer (4 yrs). Can you help me? Thanks, David.
Ok.. this video series is response for a "home-repair-miracle" the dryer is back from the non-heating dead. Superb... thank you for putting the effort in to make the videos, diagnosis was dead thermistor and dead heating coil. thermistor perhaps in the end was good after pulling off the lint! .... thanks again!

i know this is an old vid but i have an ignorant question - what's the purpose of removing one of the terminal leads before checking for continuity ?

so how long does it take to learn how to repair appliances? and with the more advance technology on the newer models, is it more difficult to repair?

Great video.I have a whirlpool and it keeps tripping at the multiplug. If i plug strait into the wall socket the plug gets extremely hot.
I also noted a wire that runs to the timer switch has a kind of ceramic thing, that gets very hot.
Could the thermal fuse be the problem.
