  • This is how long we will Occupy.

  • Go Madison anti-snott whacker protesters. Brothers and sisters this is history. Keep up the good fight.

  • Elain you are so good... This is Tyler Dalton

  • We can all agree everyone should get a decent wage. If the Unions authority would be left at wages and safety there wouldn't be a problem, however that's not the case. Another example I have is making an independent film, If you want to have real distribution, etc you need to have it all Union, even if you're using nothing but natural light you would still need to have 2 Union electricians, 2 lighting specialists, 1 best boy, etc on the clock for every hour you film. And there's the problem.

  • Is she a member of to ASCAP? If not she was scabbing a Union employees opportunity to perform. And she would have needed:

A union driver to get her there, 1 guy to carry her microphone, 1 guy to take the mike out of its case,1 electrician to set up her microphone, 1 guy for tuning each of her guitar strings,5 total,, 1 guy to carry her guitar from the car to the stage, 1 guy to carry her guitar onto the stage, and don't forget their assistants. Then another set o 'workers' to do it in reverse.

  • @imascab You sound a little bitter about something. You ought to look inside and try to figure out who the heck you're so angry with.

  • @dickidoo123 Bitter? Hardly. The Unions had their time and place in the world and then outlived their usefulness. It's a system that cannot be sustained and created generations of people with massive entitlement issues, look at all the fun they're having in Europe and Greece, look at all the factories that have no choice but to go overseas from the US. If you need me to give you some 1st hand examples of the egregious "work" practices of some Union positions, please respond.

  • @imascab So collective bargaining for fair wages has outlived its usefulness? A society that entitles its members to health care, or does not require them to labor till the day they die is unsustainable? I am aware that some took advantage and were protected by unions, but I am also aware that an inordinate amount of wealth in this country was built by discounting the labor and taking advantage of the workers and their families. As another labor song asks, "Which Side Are You On?"

  • @dickidoo123 I'll give you a personal example, and believe me I have more. At a warehouse in New York the workers have 8 hr shifts. The forklifts loading the trucks have 2 hrs to load each truck even though it takes 40 minutes to load each one. Each operator only has to load 4 trucks a day &the going practice is to load their 4 trucks in 2.5 hours and just hang out the rest of their shift doing nothing. The only thing they can't do is sleep.

    Sound sustainable to you?

  • @imascab Yes, I recall men at the TRUE TEMPER factory in Geneva, Ohio, where I grew up, doing much the same thing during the 60's and 70's. Some of them actually went across the street to a bar while they were on the clock. The same holds true for many who worked for the railroads. There has been and continues to be abuse, but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. What is so wrong about a decent wage ( more than $15/hour plus some benefits)? Corporate profits are high. At whose expense?
