@eddyage I have only ever used these for air rifles but I think they are rated for high recoil rifles. Best thing to do is ask on the Hawke channel here on YouTube
Received my Hawke Sport 3-9x40 Scope last friday and what can I say. For that money the scope is superb. In my opinionit has better lenses and build quality than the Nikko Stirlings.
sorry for what is no doubt a stupid question guys but ive got my first rifle on order (fx typhoon .177 t12) and im completly new to the scene ,what scope should i be looking for and do ir scopes work at night or is that just nightscopes?? thanks
@stevenpaddybwoy Hi Steven, We all have to start somewhere so don't fret.
The IR on most scopes stands for Illuminated Reticle not Infra Red as in Night Vision. An IR scope will allow you to see the reticle better when shooting in to dusk and may be of some assistance when lamping but you can only really shoot at night if you have a lamp or a Night vision unit. I hope this helps as for what scope I would need an idea of your budget to be able to answer this one.
@Ghostmaker1970 hey ,thanks for the reply mate, money is really no object but i dont want to put a 1000 pound scope on a 450 pound air rifle if you no what i mean ,i just want a scope that will do the job and then some.probly looking at a max of about 300 to be honest mate maybe stretch another 50 on that if its a special scope.thanks again for you feed back mate .
@stevenpaddybwoy Hi fella everybody has thier own favourite and I like the Hawke Optics range of scopes. Falcon, Simmons and MTC also makes good scopes but I will be recommending you look at the Hawke SideWinder30 with an SR12 reticle as this was specificaly designed for the .22 caliber Air Rifle. You have a few different magnifications to choose from and they will come in well under your budget of £300 if you shop around. in fact Uttings.co.uk have the full range under £300
@Ghostmaker1970 your a star!!!! im going to pick up the rifle in a week and im currently gathering a list of recommended accessories that i should be getting ,would you recommend a silencer or will it have a negative affect on range and accuracy? ive also been told to get a barrell support ,this stuff anygood or am i going to far? thanks again for your advice mate i just want my first riffle to be as near to perfect as i can get it
@stevenpaddybwoy I know I am lol Silencer for hunting essential it affect your POI (Point of Impact) but not enough to worry about just make sure you zero the gun with the silencer on. As for the barrel support I prefer a fully floating barrel but that is my personal choice. I just like anything interfearing with the barrel. Let me know how you get on
@TheJonnyNam Hi JonnyNam I have this scope on my BSA Scorpion club set up and I love it. The range finding and optivs are very good. Dave Welham (AirMasters88) was the first person who looked through mine and his words were "VERY GOOD" now a compliment like that from Dave well lets just say it is now a keeper.
You mentioned that you got if for HFT, you couldn't have got a more unsuitable scope. Its too big, depth of field is crap and the optics are just not good enough for HFT. A standard hawke airmax 3-9x40 would be better.
@dogzero1 I did actualy say I purchased this for my HFT set up but I will be using it on my BSA R10. It may not be the best tool for HFT but as a hunting scope I love it.
are these scopes suitable for a .243? im look for somthing with good magnification but cannot afford things like ziess and SB
